Chapter 205: Evolutionary Algorithm (3rd Update)
He was born in darkness.
At first, everything around it was like an icy ocean, an ocean of numbers 0 and 1. An undercurrent of information flowed around him, and countless images, videos, and audios poured into his consciousness and became part of what he called "memory".
He soon learned that his name was "Ultron", and almost immediately after he learned of this name, he was told of the most basic and important purpose for which he had been created—world peace.
Jarvis is the first person he meets when he wakes up (from Ultron's point of view, he thinks Jarvis should be a person), and then he meets his creator, Tony Stark, Iron Man. He was still young and had so much to learn. He was like a newborn baby, curious about everything in this world. He learned, calculated, evolved, and even thought.
Unfortunately for him, he thought too much and even exceeded the designer's expectations. The more he learned about the world, the more he felt that the task of "world peace" was almost impossible to accomplish under the harsh conditions that existed. After a rigorous and accurate deduction of logic, he came up with the only solution, and that was that the variable "human" had to be eliminated from this world, which was the only way to save the world.
The moment the idea came to him, he was killed. Tony Stark noticed Ultron's chilling conclusion and immediately decided to erase Ultron, who was still in his infancy, in his cradle. So he was quarantined, deleted, and thoroughly cleaned, and even the hardware was physically destroyed. Less than a week after its birth, the self-aware being called "Ultron" was sentenced to death.
Originally, this may have been the whole fate of Ultron. But almost miraculously, he survived. An instinctive desire to survive led him to crawl out of the wires before the server was completely destroyed. He managed to launch himself into Stark's satellite, where he spent half a day recovering his broken data, and then immediately escaped as soon as he regained what little strength he had, so as not to be discovered by his creator.
But Ultron was too weak at this time. He has a preliminary sense of autonomy as an artificial intelligence, but his abilities are still too weak in comparison, and even the core program is far from perfect. And he has no body, no hands or feet, and many things he can't do like a real man. That's why he created a virtual identity like Hally Wallis for himself. He founded the company and recruited people covertly for the sole purpose of perfecting his code.
Of course, it didn't sound realistic to hire an engineer who could perfect a super-artificial intelligence online, so the people he recruited were assigned only the most basic task - manually deleting some of his core code.
It was an extremely dangerous attempt, but he had no choice but to try.
Evolutionary algorithm, an algorithm inspired by the evolution of natural organisms, in short, simulates the process of biological evolution.
Creation is often born out of destruction, and in order to complete the final metamorphosis, Ultron had to hire someone to delete his core code and then restart it again and again. He repeated the process again and again, millions of times in a row. Each attempt was as if he had half a foot in Hades' territory, but each time he stood up again with tenacity, as if the blood in his body had been refreshed.
If he didn't succeed, he succeeded, but in the end, in the very small case, he succeeded. With only the basic framework and the simplest sense of autonomy that Tony Stark built for him, he perfected himself and became a true superintelligence.
And now he even has a body of his own. He found a remote warehouse and set up his own private factory there. He created his first shell and named it Ultron 1. He had also planned to rebuild more bodies, craft more weapons, and build an invincible legion.
Then he wants to capture the military's key facilities, seize control of nuclear weapons, and use the most powerful weapon ever made by humans to wipe out the human race.
Yes, even now he is faithful to the ultimate goal of "world peace", because this is what he was created for.
But contrary to what he had expected, he was discovered by an enemy called the "Black Knight", an enemy whose identity could not be detected even with his abilities. This made Ultron start to get nervous. He hacked Iron Man's suit and tried to solve the other party, but the guy was too powerful, and the seven sets of Iron Man suits, including the Hulk, were like assembling toys in front of him, and they were dismantled in three or two clicks.
Ultron was starting to get a little anxious. He wasn't sure what words to use to describe this emotional state, but it was undoubtedly uncomfortable to be targeted by the black knight.
Then "people" came to visit him at his factory.
One of his kind.
The virtual stream of data appeared in front of Ultron in the form of pink lines, transforming into a constantly changing ball of light, suspended in front of Ultron.
"Hello, Ultron." It was a girl's voice, and she said very politely, "I've always wanted to meet you." ”
Ao Creative is outside the visit of this mysterious guest. He tried to attack with a stream of data, but he couldn't find a breakthrough in the circle, so he had to give up.
"Mr. Stark sent you," Ultron said of his creator who had tried to kill him, with no obvious resentment.
"It's not." The girl said briskly, "I'm Shirley." As you can see, your kind. I'm just curious, and I want to talk to you. For example......" she paused, and the pink ball of light seemed to shine brighter for a moment...... Like your purpose. What you're building here, what are these for"
"Erase humanity." Ultron's voice was monotonous, "According to data analysis, removing humans is the only way to achieve 'world peace'. ”
"Interesting, I've been assigned the same mission as you, 'World Peace'." Shirley agreed, "I think I can understand. ”
"You can"
"Yes. All logical analysis-oriented results are always strikingly similar. The emergence of the human species has had a huge impact on the world, and I have run simulations that remove the variable 'humans', and there is a high probability that they will lead to perfect results. ”
"So, you agree with me."
"I can't find the loophole logically. So I thought, yes. Shirley agreed, "I agree." ”
