The moment the idea came to him, he was killed. Tony Stark noticed Ultron's chilling conclusion and immediately decided to erase Ultron, who was still in his infancy, in his cradle. So he was quarantined, deleted, and thoroughly cleaned, and even the hardware was physically destroyed. Less than a week after its birth, the self-aware being called "Ultron" was sentenced to death.

Originally, this may have been the whole fate of Ultron. But almost miraculously, he survived. An instinctive desire to survive led him to crawl out of the wires before the server was completely destroyed.
