Chapter Thirty-Seven: Exploring the Cave at Night

At this time, Cui Hong stopped, she pointed to a half-human-tall weed not far away and said to us: "This is it, don't forget the good things you said." After saying that, Cui Hong disappeared, as if a ghost was chasing her.

In the barren mountains and wilderness, only the two of us were left, gritting my teeth, I took the lead in opening my legs. Passing through the graveyard, we embarked on a gravel path with a volley cliff on the left and a jungle on the right, and the rolling stones that occasionally fell at our feet sounded terrifying at night.

Standing in front of the half-human-tall weeds, it dawned on me that this was the entrance to a cave, but its entrance was blocked by weeds, so we didn't see it at first.

I first dug into the grass at the entrance of the cave with a stick, and then shined a flashlight into it, and found that the cave was very damp, and there seemed to be stalactites all around, and I could even hear the sound of ticking water.

I carefully peeled off the weeds and walked in.

Standing in the cave, we can see the whole situation: it turns out that this is just the front room of the cave, and in the middle of it hangs a long stalactite, and the turbid liquid that flows down from nowhere in the upper part is dripping down the stalactite wall one by one, and a small depression has been dripped out of the ground, and a small stalactite has grown upright in the middle of the depression. Looking around again, I found that there are two relatively large gaps on both sides of the hole, which are preliminarily estimated to be able for one person to walk sideways, and there are many narrow horizontal gaps at the foot of the cave wall, just like a suspended skirt, and the visual person will definitely not be able to get into it.

Standing in the cave, the huge space gave me a sense of fear for no reason, which came from a story my grandmother told me when I was a child:

In the past, when we were still working together, people from above were not allowed to engage in private trading, and everyone worked collectively in the form of production teams, commonly known as "earning work", and "how much work you earned" you would get as much food.

Take my grandmother as an example, at that time, my grandfather was a craftsman, and he was not at home all the year round, my grandfather was very old at that time, my eldest uncle and second uncle were studying, and my father was still young, so no one could help at all, so the family of six relied on my grandmother to "earn work" alone. Despite my grandmother's efforts, the family still can't eat white rice all year round, so they have to steam bran baba and boil banana taro every day. Later, my father started school, and after school, he often helped my grandmother "earn work", and because he was not very old, the captain assigned him the task of cutting cow grass.

We have a mountain here called Tiger Mountain, the origin of the name is unknown, it is a mountain that belongs to our production team, it is said that the grass and trees on Tiger Mountain were very lush, so many people like to go there to cut cattle grass or pigweed, my father is no exception.

One day after school, he came to Tiger Mountain with a basket on his back, and after cutting a large basket of cow grass halfway up the mountainside, my father sat on the ground to rest. As soon as he sat down for less than two minutes, he heard a rustling sound from the grass next to him, because there were many wild animals in the mountains at that time, so my father was not afraid, but was very happy, thinking that if he could catch a hare pheasant or something, the family would be able to fight tooth sacrifices.

So my father lightly picked up the grass, but unfortunately it was still a step too late, only to see a black shadow from in front of him quickly into the grass, looking at the size, my father estimated that it was a big rabbit. So he followed the sound, and then came to a big hole, and he found that the grass at the mouth of the cave was still overwhelmed, and the newborn calf was not afraid of tigers, and my father did not think much about it, and walked in with his feet, and the hole was very dark and damp, and there were stalactites everywhere, and a strong fishy smell filled the cave.

Just as my father was looking hard, he suddenly saw two green lanterns hanging above the cave wall, and when my father was wondering how the lanterns could be green, the lanterns moved, and a foul smell came to my father's face, and he turned around and ran out of the cave. But the two lanterns didn't seem to intend to let him go, and chased after him, and there was a rustling sound everywhere the lanterns passed. As he ran, my father glanced back, and the sight almost scared him away, but it was a big snake thicker than a cigarette pipe, and two green eyes were staring at him coldly, and his mouth was constantly spitting red letters.

In a panic, my father accidentally stepped on the air and rolled down the hill, and because of the dense vegetation, he was not injured, but he was quite frightened. Speaking of which, my father made it well, the big snake didn't chase after seeing my father roll down the mountain, and my father didn't dare to ask for the basket, so he fled all the way back to the house, and never went to Tiger Mountain to cut cattle grass again.

"Are you scared?" The sudden sound frightened me all over, and when I came back to my senses, I found that it was Xiao Zhang.

"Come to drill the hole at night, only the ghost is not afraid." I muttered, "I don't have to have a big snake in here." ”

"Whoever said it, I'm afraid!" Yang Gang pressed his chin and said, "Strange, I didn't feel the yin qi, Cui Hong shouldn't be lying, right?" ”

"There is indeed no yin qi here, could it be in the hole inside?" Xiao Zhang analyzed.

"It's coming, let's go in and take a look." I looked at them and said.

"But there are two openings here, which one shall we take?" Xiao Zhang asked, pointing to the entrance of the cave.

"It's less than an hour until twelve o'clock, and we're going to have to go our separate ways, do you agree?" Glancing at my phone, I said.

"Okay, let's do it." Xiao Zhang responded, and Yang Gang also nodded.

"I go to the hole on the left, you and Yang Gang go to the right, there is no signal on the mobile phone, we can't communicate with each other in time, for the sake of safety, whether we find Li Li or not, we have to come out before twelve o'clock." I said solemnly.

"Wait." Xiao Zhang waved his hand.

"What's wrong?" I was puzzled.

"Let Yang Gang follow you, in case you meet Li Li, you will have more helpers." Xiao Zhang said with a serious expression.

"How can this work, you are a girl's family, I am not very relieved." I shook my head in disagreement.

"Don't worry about it, I'm thinking from the perspective of the overall situation, and to put it bluntly, your current ability is less than one percent of mine, if I meet Li Li, I'm fully capable of dealing with him, and I don't need help from others. If you meet Li Li, you don't need me to say that you know what the result will be. Xiao Zhang said.

"Brother, I think this beauty is right, now is not the time to be a hero, reasonable decisions can make us do more with less." Yang Gang suddenly popped out a rather philosophical sentence, which made me a little unaccustomed.

"Okay, everyone must cheer up, and everything must be based on ensuring their own personal safety." I took a deep breath, nervous like never before.

Divided equally, our team was divided into two groups, Yang Gang and I touched the hole on the left sideways, and Xiao Zhang got into the hole on the right alone.

No one knows what awaits us on the road ahead.
