126. The paulownia tree in my hometown

There are many trees in my hometown, and there are many kinds of trees.

There are red, red, green, green, pink, white, white, fruitful, and colorful peach trees, pear trees, plum trees, apricot trees, and cherry trees.

It is a catalpa tree with a mellow aroma, medium height, white flowers, pink flowers, or goose yellow flowers, and a barbarella bean-like pod.

There are acacia tree flowers with elegant taste, thorny branches, round leaves and kidneys, and white and lightly fragrant "pigeon-shaped" that can be used for people to wrap in noodles and steam.

There are also mulberry trees with charming and touching style, sweet and sour taste, and a lot of white and black oil purple and beautiful small fruits.

Of course, there are also accomplished trees, toon trees, elm trees, paulownia trees, maple poplars, pine trees, saponaria trees, and other unknown tree species.

But what makes me most curious is the paulownia tree that stands tall, the flowers sprout before the leaves, and the clusters bloom with fragrant pink.

At the end of March and the beginning of April every year, when the fields are about to bloom with yellow-orange-orange brassica flowers (commonly known as rape flowers), the seemingly shriveled and obscene paulownia trunks also rise up delicate calyxes, and then unscrupulously bloom with buds, like the number of brassica flowers in the same period, but they bloom with pink flowers, white at the tail end and different stamens, the stems are like cracked beads, and the trumpet-shaped flowers with sweet and sweet honey gush in the smell are fragrant, attracting flocks of butterflies and bees.

Of course, it also attracts people who love natural flavors to taste and pick, you can suck the nectar directly (make sure that there are no bees hidden in the heart of the flower to avoid being stung), the taste is clear and sweet, you can also mix noodles or steam or fried, there is also another taste. And from the flower, it is estimated that it will be more than half a month before the emerald green leaves are the size of an adult's palm, and the colorful paulownia blossom scene is also one of the most beautiful natural brilliance in the world in mid-spring, which is charming.

Because the paulownia tree is born with abundant sap, it is like soaking in the pond to absorb enough water, so it is called "paulownia". At the beginning of summer, under the influence of the hot weather, it will naturally attract groups of high-spirited singing cicadas to stop and eat a mouthful of sweet and smooth paulownia sap. It is also for this reason that at this time, after nightfall, you can easily catch a pleasing number of cicada larvae at the foot of the paulownia tree, and you can also pick up a lot of cicadas molting, not to mention how much fun it is.

But when I thought about it, I found that the reason for my curiosity was not "falling flowers" or "picking up cicadas", but the canopy of paulownia trees, especially the trunks of trees where birds nested. Because the paulownia tree sap is abundant, its branches are relatively fragile, easy to break, and can not bear much weight, so it has become one of the dangerous forbidden areas for children who like to dig birds, so basically few children dare to climb the paulownia trunk, let alone dig the bird's nest in advance.

Because of this characteristic, the bird's nest on the paulownia tree can usually only be watched by mischievous children, and it has become a paradise for birds. But there are always exceptions to everything, there are also some silly birds like to build their nests on low branches, only three or four meters above the ground, if a human child with a heart finds a bamboo pole long enough, it only needs to be so easy to pound the nest to bring the nest down: sometimes tragically all the eggs in the nest are broken, sometimes lucky to bring the fluffy fluffy chicks home to raise. It's also a cruel childlike fun.

But more wise birds, like to build in the "dragon's head" branches of the paulownia tree, not only the nest is very hidden, but also exceptionally blessed. What is the "dragon head" of the paulownia tree? To put it simply, it is the area of abnormal growth in the canopy of the paulownia tree, with one or more appearances, like a cage, and its base is mixed with layers of dead branches and leaves that have not yet fallen, at first glance it looks like a nest that has long been abandoned, but it is surrounded by fresh and dwarf branches, which is dense and impermeable, which can be described as very hidden. Because the bottom of the "dragon head" is like a natural bird's nest, it naturally attracts birds with unique eyes to come to hold the nest, which not only reduces the hard work of making a nest, but also has a very safe guarantee. When I was young, it may be because the countryside is a house with gray tiles, white walls and blue bricks, or because people at that time generally treated sparrows as pests, and I was fortunate to observe a group of sparrows occupying the starling's nest in the "dragon's head".

Of course, the most common bird that likes to nest in the "dragon's head" is the turtle dove. Therefore, people often see turtle doves in and out of the "dragon head", and even sometimes look up from the bottom of the tree, and can vaguely see turtle doves nesting in the nest to incubate eggs, only exposing a set of tail feathers. If people observe frequently, the turtledove is aware of it, it will be uneasy in the nest, panicked, if people still do not give up, continue to inch inch, beyond the range of the turtledove's tolerance, will jump up, flee into the distance, until people leave before returning in a hurry, this restrained bird, is too careful.

Of course, not all turtledoves that live in the "dragon head" can die well, and some chicks will be "lost" because people kill and sell trees: they are violently stoned to death by fallen tree trunks, or they are caught and killed by greedy people. It is said that they don't fight the three spring birds, but driven by money, how many tree sellers are willing to be gentle and kind? And how many tree sellers are willing to continue to be simple and kind? It's all the fault of poverty, people are afraid of poverty.

Nowadays, the number of many trees has been drastically reduced, not only are there fewer and fewer paulownia trees in the village, but at the same time, the poplar trees that make the "snow" fall in July have gradually disappeared. But the natural interest they gave me is still unforgettable. I am glad that I am an authentic rural child, and it is a special life experience full of a sense of accomplishment to be able to see so many beautiful flowers and plants and colorful birds, fish and insects. For the rest of my life, though, this kind of lazy time will fade away, leaving only the remnants of my memory to savor, and the burden on me will grow heavier and heavier until it crushes me. But, whatever! If we don't even have a good time yesterday and today, what is the future? It's a blessing to live in the moment.
