Chapter 9: The Disgusting New Beach

As I waited for the grain to grow, I seemed to discover a pattern of the "click" sound that came from the depths of the island, so loud and so powerful, that it was not the sound of a tree breaking, and that it seemed to sound only at night, as if it had been knocking into my heart in my ears.

I still have some fear of the sound, and while it doesn't hurt me much, it's obvious that a few irregular rings a night will sooner or later turn me into a nervous breakdown.

Knowing that the sound would only come at night, I began to consider whether I should actively seek its source during the day, not only because of my curiosity, but more importantly, because I always wanted to go outside the territory I knew and visit the whole island.

The idea had been around for a long time, and it had been prepared for it for a long time, and at last I was loaded with two guns, gunpowder, and plenty of ammunition, and a whole bag of jerky wrapped around my waist, and I stepped out of my cave, and the harsh sunlight made me unable to open my eyes, and I put my hand on my forehead and looked west, the small land I had observed before was exceptionally clear, but even with the best visibility, I could only see the corner of that small land, which was too far away, and I didn't know if it was also an island, or the land of my homeland, butEven if it were land, there would be no way I could go to the other side with the equipment I had, and of course, if it was land, then I would be a great tourist destination here, and I wouldn't even have birds that had been exploited for a long time.

But, frankly speaking, the island under my feet is actually much more beautiful than the original city, at least in terms of environment, it is comparable to extinction, whether it is my hometown of Beijing or Zhejiang, where I joined the army. Here the deep forest is secluded and the grass is green, and you can bend down everywhere to pick up a wild flower, which still has a faint fragrance.

I even found a lot of parrots on the side of the woods, the kind of parrot that is not very common in China, the whole body is white, the curved beak is barbed to its own chest, I admit that I seem to have seen a parrot similar to it before, but it is the first time I have seen the same species, but, it is not very large, there is no meat, I do not plan to use this kind of bird as a tooth sacrifice on the table.

With a gun behind his back and another gun in his hand, this is the regular marching posture of my trip, and I decided that the main tone of this operation is "be careful to sail the ship of ten thousand years", one does not make any danger and the other does not commit cheapness, and resolutely takes "being able to live" as the ultimate goal, no matter what I encounter, even if I see a group of female goblins wearing "simple" clothes in the "Lanruo Temple", I will never look at it and turn around and run.

I walked about a kilometer to the other end of the island every day, and then slept in a tree, not because I was too cautious, but because the deeper I went into the forest, the more difficult it became, and there were no gaps for me to get through, but I had to go back and find my way again, but fortunately there were no towering trees here that would allow the sun to penetrate the ground, otherwise I would have become a lost lamb.

Moreover, I also need to stop and wait for the late night, because the "click" sound only appears in the middle of the night, and I need that sound to show me the way, after all, it is one of the reasons for my travels.

But as I walked around, I came to another beach, which made me look up several times and still look confused, until I realized later that the island was irregular in shape and had many small bays.

Seeing my "paradise" and this beach, I was even more determined how unfortunate it was to use the small hill I had chosen as a place to live, it was simply the worst, worst and most barren slum on the island, and the beach in front of me, countless birds were stupidly pacing back and forth on the beach, and the kind of poisonous turtles I had eaten before were also very many here, at least a few hundred at a glance.

Once again, the idea of moving was blocked, after all, no matter how nice it was, no matter how beautiful the "paradise" was, it was no better than the familiarity that the hill brought me, I was used to living there, and here, I always felt that I was just traveling, and I couldn't find that feeling of home.

After walking along the coast for about five days, it was more than 20 kilometers long, but I found that the vast coastline seemed to have no end.

I sat down on a reef in a dejected way, with the seabirds pecking at my back all the time, not heavy, but it also made me realize that this beach was not so welcoming to me, and that it never happened on the other side of the hill.

I decided to go home, go back to my cave, and then change the door, except for the "paradise", Lao Tzu will never step out of the territory again, that "click" sound love knock knock, love sound on the ring, I wish you knock on the old world, I wish you to ring until the sea is dry!

Cursed the street to go back, after walking through the beach and looking back, the sound of the sea hitting the rocks was faintly audible, but there was no nostalgia in my heart, so I went home the same way, who knew that after a few days of travel, I returned to the place where I was pecked by birds! I had no choice but to choose another path, thinking that as long as I followed the general appearance of the island and the direction of the sun and stars, I would not get lost, but it turned out that this kind of book learning is really unreliable!

This time the road walked less than five kilometers and I entered a large valley, which was completely surrounded by high mountains, but the bottom of the valley in front of me was densely jungled, and it took me a long time to find the position of the sun, and what was even more tragic was that about four days after stepping into this valley, a thick fog covered me, like a pot lid, and I was so frightened that I almost fell down the mountain stream after hitting the wrong way several times in a row, and then I returned to the beach pecked by birds.

After this toss, I had eaten all the jerky I had with me, and the fresh water had left me ten days earlier, and I had to go back to the valley when I first arrived, crawling like a dog in front of the rotten puddle and sucking in mouthfuls, and the food became coconut meat again, which chewed like wax.

With malaria all over my body, I stumbled back to my little hill half a month later, with four or five rabbits in my arms, which I had picked up on the way back, and their hennies died in the woods, and they seemed unaware, still trying to suck on the still swollen mammary glands under the she-rabbits.

I was worried that they would become breakfast for other animals, so I brought them back and raised them, maybe in the future I could get them domesticated into rabbits, so that I would no longer have to fight with the hares every day.

I knew very well that the malaria was mainly caused by the dirty water and coconut oil in the puddle, but I had no way to avoid it, as long as I was alive, I slouched in the cave for about a week, and the yard outside the cave did not change, and the sparse farmer grew very strong and did not abandon it due to the frequent rain, but there was little left of the original solid dried meat and coconut to replenish.

I kept the rabbits in the cave, but found that the smell of this thing was disgusting, and I had to transfer them to the courtyard of the "paradise" to be free-range, and even set up a low fence for them to prevent them from jumping out and escaping, I looked at the ground in the fence with a very thick grass, at least for a short time I didn't have to worry about their food, but put a pot in the fence that I burned myself and filled it with some water, I really don't know if the rabbits need to drink water, Be prepared.

It wasn't until about ten days after this that I remembered the existence of these little guys, which happened to coincide with a few days of heavy rain, and I was in a hurry to dry the dried meat, so I didn't care about them, and when I returned to the "paradise", these little guys were already lying on the ground and dying, and later I learned that they were too young to eat the whole blades of grass as food, but could only bite off a little tender leaf on the tip of the leaf and swallow it or drink milk directly.

This made me blame myself for a while, although according to the principle of the food chain, they should be my food, but it is never "moral" permissible to trample on their lives until they starve to death, even if this "Tao" is only followed by me, I will never allow myself to do such a thing.

Once again, I took them back to the cave in my arms, carefully picked a lot of tender grass tips and put them in earthen pots to feed them, but found that after they were full, they no longer had to be kept in captivity with fences, and even obediently followed me wherever I went, and they followed wherever I went, completely recognizing the feeling of mother, which moved me for a long time, and even regarded them as family members since then, although I also raised a lot of hares in captivity, but these rabbits I have always been as a breeding rabbit for them to breed offspring and never left me.

In the blink of an eye, it was another rainy season, and according to my time scale, I should have lived on this island for a whole year, September 23rd, the anniversary of my shipwreck!

Like a New Year's sacrifice, I straightened myself upright, shaved off my shoulder-hanging hair with a dagger, and bathed naked in the stream, the water was cold and cold, but I was used to it.

It's been a whole year, and I've been here for a whole year. Looking back on this year, I built my own home and cleaned up a small country estate; I have made clay pottery, and even made grain crops that I can't even name; I made jerky and learned how to squeeze delicate vegetable oil out of coconut; I have gone from panic when I first came to the present when I am not shocked; From the first time I arrived here, I really peed my pants when I heard the "click" sound, and now I don't seem to be sleeping well without this sound; All this is actually just a year of time!

But the "rescue" that I was most looking forward to was nowhere to be found, and since the malaria that almost killed me, I have stopped blaspheming the gods, or I have stopped making jokes about any gods, whether it is Christ, God or Buddhism, because they have given me food, water, sunshine, crops and life.
