Name: Curvature Driven

Foreword: Curvature drive is a driving method that uses the curvature of the front and rear space as a driving force for movement, and it is also a concept that became popular due to the science fiction movie Star Trek. Ships designed using this concept can travel 10 times the speed of light.

Definition: The space of the universe is not flat, but there is curvature (curvature is the reciprocal of the radius, the greater the curvature, the smaller the radius), if you imagine the universe as a whole, the surface of this membrane is curved, and the whole membrane may even be a closed soap bubble. Research progress: In 2012, physicist Harold White changed the ring structure around the spacecraft from a flat shape in the original design to a "cylindrical" shape like a doughnut, and calculated that the energy required to drive such a device was only equivalent to the energy value of the mass-energy equation converted from the mass of the Voyager probe launched by NASA in 1977. In addition, White found that if the strength of the curvature of space could fluctuate over time, the energy required to realize the device would be further reduced.

White and his colleagues experimented with their small curvature drive device in the lab and built a device called the White-Judy Curvature Field Interferometer at the Johnson Space Flight Center.
