I don't know the true face of Lushan, only because I am in this mountain.

■Interpretation
This is Su Shi's popular poem, the meaning of the words is simple, but the meaning is profound and the meaning is timeless. Because the observer's vision is different, the perspective is different, so the same Lushan also presents the appearance of "looking horizontally as a peak on the side of the ridge, and the height of the distance is different". This is as the Western proverb says, "In the hearts of a thousand readers, there are a thousand Hamlets." How do we get rid of this difference in perception? This requires "jumping out of Lushan" and using more perceptual observation and stronger rational grasp to reveal the essential attributes of complex things. Comrade Xi Jinping quoted this poem in 1990 when he talked about the cultural construction of eastern Fujian. He believes that Mindong people are not necessarily familiar with Mindong, and they may not know the loveliness of their hometown, and if they only know how to envy others, they will lose their self-confidence. At this time, it is necessary to get rid of the mentality of "the authorities are confused", not just to look at it with its own eyes, but to discover the shining points of eastern Fujian from a larger field of vision, and grasp its own characteristics and advantages. Is such a scientific epistemology more than just applicable to eastern Fujian?
■Original text
Looking horizontally into the peaks on the side of the ridge,
There are different heights and distances.
I don't know the true face of Lushan,
It's just because I'm in this mountain.
——(Northern Song Dynasty) Su Shi "Title West Forest Wall"
■Definition
In the seventh year of Yuanfeng (1084), Su Shi passed through Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province when he was demoted from Huangzhou to Ruzhou, and visited Lushan. The magnificent landscape inspired the poet's Yixing and magnificent thoughts, and wrote a number of Lushan travel poems, "Theme West Forest Wall" is one of them.
This is not only a poem with pictures in the poem, but also a philosophical poem with profound meaning. The poet does not discuss abstractly, but closely follows the experience of traveling to the mountains and explains the philosophy in simple terms. The first two sentences "look horizontally as a peak on the side of the ridge, and the height of the distance is different", which is a real description of what you see in the mountain. Lushan Mountain is a criss-crossed, rolling mountain. The large and small peaks are in a variety of shapes, and the scenery that visitors enjoy in the mountains will change according to the different places they are in. The last two sentences "I don't know the true face of Lushan, only because I am in this mountain" is an instant reasoning and talking about the experience of traveling in the mountains. The reason why we can't recognize the true face of Lushan is only because we are in the peaks and peaks of Lushan, and the vision is blocked by the rolling mountains, and the scenery seen must only be a part of Lushan.
Observing the world is like traveling in the mountains, and people's understanding of the same things, understanding and views on the same issues will inevitably be limited by some subjective factors, with a certain degree of one-sidedness. Therefore, in order to understand things comprehensively and objectively, it is necessary to have overall thinking, overall awareness, and overall situation.
