This is a couplet inscribed by Zhu Xi, a master of science in the Southern Song Dynasty, for the Dolomites Academy when he was serving as Zhizhou in Zhangzhou, Fujian. The couplet is neat, beautifully written, full of poetry and picturesqueness, with rich connotations and profound meanings. Shanglian said that Confucianism shoulders social morality, and the breeze on his sleeves can show the sun and the moon; The next link says that Confucianism reads thousands of volumes, tastes all things, knows the current situation, is in the study, and cares about the world. In just a few words, the responsibilities of ancient intellectuals and the qualities they should possess are clearly explained, giving people profound enlightenment. In fact, Zhu Xi's couplet borrowed the couplet of Tang Xuanzong Li Chen's Seven Laws "Baizhang Mountain". The full poem is: "Nobita's true works are dangerous, and Fanyu is towering." Li Chen (reigned 847-859) was known as "Little Taizong". This is a poem he wrote when he traveled to the Daxiong Peak of Baizhang Mountain in Fengxin County, Jiangxi Province as the King of Light. Because of Tang Wuzong's jealousy, Li Chen often traveled in obscurity, but chanted the poem "Every time the sun and moon pass over his shoulder, the mountains and rivers are long in the palm of his hand", revealing his ambition to reign over the world.
