16 Purge
By the last rays of the sunset, the thousands of fleeing Haradins and the pursuing orcs had vanished without a trace.
However, the gathering place is still noisy at the moment, and it has even intensified.
More than a hundred dwarf, orc soldiers in leather armor and leather helmets, led by several leaders who straddled the wolves, walked vigorously through the main road of the gathering place.
On either flank, scattered orc soldiers scurried down hill after hill, kicking open the doors of their houses and searching the surroundings for any place where they might be hiding.
If there is any abnormality, dozens of orcs and a half of the large army below will be quickly dispatched to support.
So far, however, they have not found the real attacker. But if it continues like this, it is estimated that it will be found sooner or later.
From the sky, the bright moonlight shrouded them, and less than a mile away from them, a group of less than twenty people was hurrying towards the depths of the gathering place.
Near them, a diminutive figure straddled a galloping wolf, roaming around the group.
From a distance, because of its height, this figure is very similar to that of a half-orc cavalryman.
But if you look closer, you'll see that it's actually a short elf boy.
An elf, with a group of humans.
At first, their escape seemed to have been smooth, but because of the terrain around them, not only did they not find them, but the distance between them and their pursuers in the rear was getting longer and longer.
It wasn't long before the elven boy riding the wolf suddenly turned back, changed his previous appearance of escaping, and rushed towards the rear.
He didn't rush straight forward, but leaned down down the slope to the top of a hill, and then followed the undulating landscape toward the orc army.
It wasn't long before a half-orc cavalry watching from the top of a towering hill spotted the dwarf figure, and let out a deep roar with its head down.
As a result, a large number of orcs who had been moving forward suddenly changed direction and began to speed up the pace towards the warning station!
The cavalry at the head were even more "in the lead", ignoring the large number of soldiers who were left behind, and urging their respective mounts to chase fiercely with all their might, as if they couldn't wait.
After crossing several hills, they finally saw the figure of the young man riding on the wolf, and when they realized that the wolf was familiar, one of them roared with anger!
However, at this moment, an arrow suddenly burst through the air and plunged into its bloody mouth!
The strength of the legs clamping the wolf's body was thus dispersed, and the wolf who was running at great speed found that his back suddenly became light, and he hurriedly leaned over to brake, and then looked sideways and found that his master had fallen to the ground and trembled to death!
The ferocious beast was furious and rushed in the direction of the enemy's flight.
But at the same time, the second arrow that suddenly attacked had already shot a half-orc cavalry down the wolf again!
The falling body was very sudden, and directly tripped the furious beast, its neck and chin fell to the ground, and its body was in mid-air and involuntarily leaned back with inertia, and the wailing voice was terrible and panicked.
It's just that it doesn't cause much attention or affect the other orcs.
I saw the two half-orc cavalrymen who were originally lagging behind pass by at a high speed, and their speed did not decrease at all.
It's just that as fierce as they may seem, the situation is almost settled.
In fact, if it weren't for Charles' desire to "save energy", he would have been able to deal with this group of guys who are still chasing after him.
The orcs who came by surprise were mainly infantry, and most of the relatively scarce cavalry pursued south with the large army.
At the moment, there are only more than a dozen orc cavalry left here, and two of them have been shot dead at the moment, and the remaining ones really can't make any waves.
I saw that the figure running quickly at the forefront kept turning and drawing its bow, and sent one precise and fierce attack after another at the cavalry chasing behind, and the arrows were fatal and rarely missed.
On the contrary, those half-orc cavalry counterattacks seemed scattered and unsystematic, and most of them had already shot crookedly without dodging.
The few who didn't shoot crookedly also told the short guy to deftly lean over and avoid it.
……
Elven eyesight and hand-eye coordination are already strong, even for elven boys who are still in their development stage.
Coupled with diligent practice from the age of four or five, it matches the adult mind and the countless experiences learned from the past.
Charles's archery skills are very accurate at the moment, and basically the target he is targeting does not need to shoot a second arrow at all.
One arrow after another continued to fly from the dim light like lightning meteors, and under successive attacks, the number of cavalry that was already small continued to decrease.
The fierce and angry emotions in their hearts were weakened by this, and finally, they realized that the form was not good, and the remaining two hurriedly turned their heads and fled without looking back!
At this moment, they had left the gathering place of the Haradins, and were in a relatively flat green plain, in this situation, the field of vision was wide, and it was obviously impossible for the panicked orc cavalry to run anywhere.
So under the swishing two arrows, there was no longer any living orc figure nearby!
……
While the Charles were busy flying kites in the distance, a group of Haradin warriors in the gathering place had begun to act on the occasion after a brief rest.
They didn't have the same fierce counterattack as the Charles, but when more than a dozen people gathered, the enemies here were attracted by the Charles, and even a group of pigs could make some noise.
They weren't pigs, so when they noticed that most of the orc soldiers were following the cavalry with a roar, their eyes were fixed on some of the orc soldiers who had stayed where they were, "stealing and cheating".
Compared to the Haradin warriors, the number of those left behind was still very high, and under the moonlight, there were no less than fifty at a cursory glance!
But it's not just because they didn't catch up.
Rather, they were now circling around the same kind of loot that was being pursued.
The trophies ranged from good bacon, to coarse bread, to sacks of wheat, to barrels of ale, and to pots and pans.
The orcs' lair, Angban, has no shortage of food, but in order to keep them fierce and obedient, the Angban higher-ups never let these guys with a big appetite eat and drink.
So it's not hard to imagine why these orcs didn't participate in the initial chase and stayed and plundered, and it's not hard to imagine that they would do something to the loot left behind by their kind at such an opportune opportunity.
Looking at the group of orcs sitting together, eating and drinking in the moonlight, the Haradins hidden in the dark were both resentful and expectant.
Even though they were defenseless now, they didn't attack right away, because they decided to wait until the guys were well fed and drunk before they did so.
This drink means to drink alcohol.
The craft of making sake from the wheat grown in normal life was learned from other Terrans (who learned from the Elves).
Because wheat production has always been low, not all Haradins had the luxury of making wine out of food, only a few relatively wealthy families did.
But the number base is enough to make these less than a hundred orcs drink over, and in fact, the orc race is obviously very fond of drinking.
Now that no one is in charge, they drink so happily!
Secretly observing, the Haradin warriors were expecting the orcs to get drunk, so that they could wipe out the group on the spot.
It didn't take long for the anticipation in their hearts to be replaced by astonishment.
The reason for the astonishment was not because the orcs who ran to chase had begun to turn back piecemeal, but because the orcs who turned back and the group of orcs who stayed in place to take advantage of each other fought each other!
