24. Finale: Overlord

"The reason why a secret is called a secret is because it cannot be known by too many people from the moment it is born..."

The graceful Oneiroi sat in his library, holding a book in his hand, which had been turned to the last page, and his eyes, though covered by pure white silk cloth, did not interfere with his taste of the beautiful story.

Sitting across from him was a man he didn't know, and it seemed that Oneiroi was telling his favorite story to this strange visitor.

But before he finished telling the story, Oneiroi looked up, and he looked at the figure in a black trench coat opposite, he paused and asked in a low voice:

"So guest, when the story is about to end, you still don't want to tell me who you are?"

The man leaned back in his chair with hot tea in his hand, and in the face of Oneiroiroi's question, he stretched out his finger and shook it:

"Don't worry, my friend, let's finish this story first..."

His voice was not strong, but there was a quality contained in it that made Oneiroi subconsciously choose to obey, he nodded, and refocused on the book in his hand:

"Alright, then as you wish..."

"Ahem"

Oneiroi cleared his throat and put his finger on the fragment of the last page, and he read aloud:

"No one knows what the Overlord saw behind that door, even though thousands of people tried to find the ultimate answer to the ultimate question, but the Overlord remained silent about it, maybe he himself knew that the rash release of this answer would make waves again in the universe that had just regained its calm, but no matter what, when the Overlord returned to the multiverse from that door... People will know..."

"A new era in this multiverse has arrived..."

Oneiroi's voice was muffled, and listening to him tell a story was the most beautiful pleasure, and he paused and read the last passage in a more impassioned voice:

"At the end of the story, let's look at the journey of the Overlord..."

"In the once chaotic Gotham, in that dark mist, he was born here, he is the crimson devil who brings blood, that is the evil he represents..."

"In the wandering world of mutants, in the confused crowd, he struggles with this, he is the third leader who has sprung up, that is the persistence he represents..."

"In the entanglement of the earth's civilization, in the confrontation with endless evil, he slaughtered here, he is the ruthless sword that cuts the bonds, that is the salvation he represents..."

"In the vastness of the stars, in the journey into the stars, he made a name for himself, he was the wise leader of civilization, that is the conquest he represented..."

"He is worshipped, he is hated, he is praised, he is cursed, some love him, some hate him..."

"His heart is like a sharp blade, never hesitates, never hesitates, and never wavers, he has suffered defeats, but in the end, victory is in his hands..."

"He's a multifaceted legend..."

"This is his story that is not yet over... This is the story of the Overlord..."

Oneiroi's voice reached its climax at this moment, like a piece of music playing to its peak, and then quietly slipped down, leaving the whole hall in a quiet afterglow, and when the last word was uttered, an indescribable feeling enveloped Oneiroi's heart, like a ray of sunlight shining through the clouds, completely releasing the covered part of his heart.

The awakened memory made Oneiroi's consciousness hesitate for a second, but the next moment, he jerked his head and saw Cyber sitting across from him, shaking his teacup and smiling at him.

"Oh, Overlord... When were you..."

Oneiroi paused for a moment, and Cyber mysteriously made a silent gesture to him:

"I'm right here... I've never left..."

With a hint of hesitation, Oneiroi closed the book in his hand, and in turn, placed it in front of him, and in the corner of the book, there was a clumsy signature, which was evident that this was probably the only story in the library that was not written by him.

And this also solved all the doubts in his heart.

"This thing saved our memories of you..."

Oneiroi picked up the storybook in his hand and shook it, and he looked at Cyber:

"The moment you enter the Wall of Origins, the will of the multiverse erases all memories of your existence, but this book alone records it all, so you need me, who represents the memory of all beings, to read it out... Let the world remember you again. ”

"Yes!"

Cyber nodded, and he put down the teacup in his hand:

"That's what I'm here for, it's always very uncomfortable to come back to this world after all the hardships and find that no one in this world remembers you except for a madman..."

He stretched out his hands, stretched, and said to Oneiroi:

"Alright, excuse me, I'm leaving... The hardest time is behind us, and I think it's time to take a long vacation and enjoy life. ”

He stood up, straightened his clothes, and turned to leave, but just as he had taken a few steps, Oneiroi's voice sounded behind him with some hesitation:

"Overlord, can you tell me... Did you see anything behind that door?"

Hearing this, a smile appeared on the corner of Cyber's mouth, and he looked back at Oneiroi and said playfully:

"Does it matter?"

"That's the Wall of Origins, after all... The secret place where all things are born, and you, you, are the only person I know of who has been able to come back from behind that door in its entirety since the birth of diversity, though I know that it is presumptuous..."

Oneiroi gritted his teeth:

"But I still want to know... I guess that's my curiosity. ”

Cyber stood in place, he thought for a moment, stretched out his hand, looked at the six gems that were beating on the back of his hand, and he whispered:

"I, I don't know..."

"Huh?"

Oneiroi snorted in suspicion, and Cyber explained with his fingers crossed:

"Because every life that enters into it enters its own origin, so if you want to know what you will see when you enter it, I really don't know, as for me... If you have to ask, all I can tell you is..."

"I was in it, I saw the reality... A real reality!"

"That's it?"

Oneiroi was still a little skeptical, but Cyber crossed his waist generously and said with a smile:

"You see, this journey has not made me stronger, nor has it changed my consciousness and soul, if it has any special meaning, I can only say that it has made me more aware of the nature of the existence of this multiverse, and its absurd origins, but no matter how bad this universe is, where it was born, we still have to live here, or pain, or joy... Because we can only belong here, don't we?"

"It's... Frankly, I don't understand..."

Oneiroi shook his head, he stretched out his hand, and in the wind that swayed back and forth in the library, another book fell into his hand:

"But I decided to believe you... And, in return for your willingness to answer this question, would you like to hear another story... It's a great story, a story I've just gleaned from somewhere in the multiverse, a story about death, about conquest, about self and redemption, and about the Necronomins. ”

Cyber took a pocket watch from his bosom, opened it to check the time, and sat down across from Oneiroi.

"I still have some time... Seriously, it's a pleasure to listen to your story, by the way, what's the book called?"

"I call it Death Track, the main character, an elf named Tyrion..."

Oneiroi's voice was again tactful, like the chirping of birds fluttering in the morning light, and he turned the pages of the book, and put his fingers on the fragments that smelled of ink, and he whispered:

"The beginning of the story is a meeting of old friends, and it is in the land called the Hillsbrad Hills..."

—————————————

Queen Catherine is sitting on a train from Utopia to the present world, and as the titular supreme leader of the mutants, she enjoys the status of a privileged class, with separate carriages, ornate decorations, and guards in charge of security, selected from the entire mutant society.

It sounds like some kind of backward system of a feudal kingdom, but in reality it is not, Catherine never asked for all this, and she does not have the hedonistic mind of heavenly kingship, all of which the mutants voluntarily gave for this Majesty the Queen.

After civilization completely stepped into the starry sky, what was matched with science and technology was the rapid development of human civilization, and when the civilization of the entire earth slowly eliminated the restrictions on the country and merged into a united whole, those who used to be discriminated against and excluded mutants have also become memories that only belong to the past.

Utopia, the holy city in the hearts of mutants, has become more prosperous because of this.

Mutants from all over the world visit here every day, some to pay tribute to the heroes who gave everything for the liberation of mutants, some to join the kingdom, and some to see the legendary scenery with their own eyes.

As a parliamentary country, the role of the queen is mostly limited to the representative of the country, and when necessary, to stand up and fight for her country, Catherine will not deal with government affairs, the trustworthy Speaker Charles has formed a very efficient government system, and all she has to do every day is to attend various activities and meetings.

Frankly, this kind of life is very disliked by Catherine, and in any case, she is only a young girl in her 20s.

Catherine's mood has not been very good lately, because she always has an inexplicable feeling that she seems to have lost a part of her memory, in her soul, a part of it is missing, and her intuition tells her that it is a very important memory, but no matter how much she looks for it, who she turns to, she can't understand the truth of the matter.

Even Professor Charles, a powerful psychic user, was unable to solve the mystery of the uncertain existence.

"So, who the hell are you?!"

Catherine sat in her seat, turning her head to look out the window at the fleeting scenery, and the figure in the black trench coat appeared in front of her again, she could feel that it was someone very important to her, but she couldn't remember his face, she couldn't remember his name, she couldn't even be sure if he really existed, although he appeared in her dreams every night.

This person seems to occupy a very important place in her past story, but... She can't remember!

Even if she travels back in time countless times, she can only see that lonely figure, but she will always see his face, is there anything more desperate than this?

Today, though, things seem to have changed.

As the figure slowly solidified in front of Catherine's eyes, memories of him emerged little by little, like secrets buried under the sea.

"Huh"

At the first clear view of his face, Catherine stood up suddenly, and the memories of Cyber were fully revived, she saw her encounter with Cyber, she saw what she and Cyber had experienced, and finally, all these heavy memories made the girl cry.

"No... How could I forget you? No, it shouldn't be like this..."

Catherine turned, the space crumbling behind her, she stepped into the black tunnel, and the next moment, she appeared in a somewhat unfamiliar home, Gotham City, Villa Cyber.

The moment she stepped into the living room, Catherine saw her sisters, who had already parted ways.

May with a big belly sat on the sofa, Selena was beside her to help her wipe her tears, while Felicity sat on the side, rubbing her head vigorously, the most conspicuous was Diana, who seemed to have just returned from the battlefield, her armor and sword were still stained with blood, Catherine looked up, and on the edge of the second floor, she also saw the mysterious aunt who had not appeared for a long time.

That's Ms. Phoenix, who calls herself Phoenix.

"Buzz"

A dark red glow appeared beside Catherine, and Barry Allen, dressed in casual clothes, appeared beside the Queen, took Catherine's hand, and whispered:

"Honey, you remember him, don't you? I just did..."

Before Catherine's little boyfriend Barry could finish his words, a familiar figure walked out of the kitchen, holding two plates of freshly fried dishes in his hands, and a somewhat funny-looking apron, his eyes narrowed when he saw Catherine, revealing a warm smile.

"Welcome home... Little Catherine. ”

"Brother!"

Her Majesty rushed into Cyber's arms like a cannonball, and if it weren't for the strength of the overlord himself, the dish in his hand would have spilled on the ground.

Catherine ignored this, she pressed her head to Cyber's arms, tears streaming freely.

"I miss you so much..."

"Okay, good, they're all big kids..."

Cyber touched Catherine's head with his chin, and then his gaze fell on the helpless Barry, his eyes became serious and strange:

"Ahem, so, I'll give my sister to you and let you teach her to travel through time... And you little bastard wants to take the opportunity to steal my sister?"

"I... You listen to me..."

Barry scratched his head and looked at Cyber with some fear, and he said with some embarrassment:

"It's just a matter of affection, well... It's really... I swear I'll protect her!

"Ding Dong"

The doorbell rang at this moment, which eased Barry's embarrassment a little, and he hurriedly opened the door, only to find that the door was full of friends who had rushed over.

There are Professor Charles in a wheelchair, Eric Lanshel in a wheelchair, Bruce Wayne in his arms, Clark and their newborn son Joel, and Logan's family, Steve's family, Strange's family, Stark's family, Coulson's family, Serge's family, Zod's family, Sleigh's family, the little cheap family who are breaking up because of a love change, and the little spider family who just got married.

There are also Nick Fury, Jung Hyun, Barton, Romanoff, Maria Hill who rushed back alone, the brothers Kevin and Robin who have regained their senses, as well as the intimate lovers Black Panther T'Chaka and the Storm Lady Auroro, the eight Knights of the Apocalypse, and the 13 Goddesses of Darkness in the 200,000 universe, and finally the Ancient One who is carrying a travel bag and is quietly following the crowd, looking unhappy and not showing up for a long time, and the Harley Quinn who sticks to him...

The little demons who have rushed back from all corners of the universe, as well as the upper echelons of the Devil Gang and the mutants who have crossed paths with Cyber.

All of them... Everybody is coming...

Cyber looked at his friends in front of him, even if it was him, there were tears rolling in his eyes, and after all he had been through, he felt the same warmth and excitement to see these old friends again.

"Welcome... I'm back..."
