Chapter 52: Not Loulan

Located on the west bank of Lop Nur, in the past, the Tarim River and the Peacock River flowed out of the desert from west to east, and flowed into Lop Nur through Loulan, nourishing the people of Loulan.

The ancient history of the Kingdom of Loulan is still unclear.

The earliest record of it was found in the "Historical Records: The Biography of Dawan". Around the 3rd century BC, the Loulan people established a state, which was then ruled by the Yue clan. From 177 BC to 176 BC, the Xiongnu defeated the Yueshi, and Loulan was again under the jurisdiction of the Xiongnu.

During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Zhang Qian sent an envoy to the Western Regions and opened the Silk Road. In the early days of the Han Dynasty, there were two routes, Loulan guarded the throat of the north and south, the camel bell was long, the green grass was everywhere, the people were weaving, the merchants were endless, and it was a prosperous scene.

However, around 330 AD, due to the diversion of the Peacock River, the Tarim River was cut off, and the water source in the downstream Loulan area dried up, resulting in the extinction of human population. In 400 A.D., the high monk Fa Xian traveled west to learn scriptures, passing through this place, he said in the "Buddha's Country Record" that this place has been "no birds on the top, no beasts below, all over the eyes, only the dead dry bones as the mark ear".

According to the tombs unearthed in Loulan about 4,000 years ago and about 2,000 years ago, archaeologists have revealed the history of Loulan to people: going back to a period of about 4,000 years, there lived a primitive European race that lived as a nomad, and they left a few dried corpses and passed away mysteriously.

For more than 2,000 years after that, Loulan could not find a trace of it, and there was no ink in the history books.

During the Jin Dynasty, Mongols appeared in the Loulan area. At this time, Loulan deduced the agricultural civilization, and due to its important geographical location on the Silk Road, it conveyed the civilizations of the East and the West. In the centuries following the Jin Dynasty, Loulan disappeared again without a trace.

It wasn't until more than 100 years ago that Sven Heding, a world-famous Swedish explorer, stumbled upon this ancient city that had been buried in yellow sand for thousands of years on the eastern edge of the Taklamakan Desert.

On March 28, 1900, Sven Hedin was on an expedition in the Lop Nur Desert, and his shovel was lost, so he asked the hired donkey worker and guide, a Uyghur farmer, Eldik, to look for it, but Erdik encountered a desert wind and accidentally found an ancient castle under the sand, and he told Sven Hedin about this discovery. When Sven Hedin heard about it, he immediately followed Eldik to this site on the northwest shore of Lop Nur, and found that the ancient ruins were scattered with wood carvings, fabrics, and coins. A year later, Sven Hedin made a special trip to this mysterious ruin, and after a week of excavation, the ancient city of Guloulan finally surfaced in a sea of sand......

In the academic circles, some people say that from the geographical position, it is speculated that the ruins of wood carvings everywhere that Eldik broke into in 1900 could not be the ancient city of Loulan at all.

The British archaeologist Olier Stein once numbered the monuments of Rob Heath, a total of 20 from L.A. to L.T.

The ancient city of Loulan is L.A.

On March 28, 1900, Sven Heding's expedition discovered the site of L.B.

L.B. consists of several neighboring ruins, including monasteries, government offices, dwellings, and more. On March 28, 1900, Sven Hedin's expedition passed by one of the relatively independent buildings, possibly the Pavilion. They are all part of L.B. The wood carvings brought back by Aldeke do not belong to the ancient city of Loulan.

If you look at the map of the Rob Wasteland, it's clear that L.A. wasn't on the route of Sven Hedin's expedition. Their camp on the night of 28 March 1900 was about 20 kilometres south of L.B., and L.A. was more than 10 kilometres east of the camp.

Sven Hedin had the most advanced measuring instruments of the time, and Eldick was a guide with a strong sense of direction. When he left the camp, there was no desert wind, which had only been blowing two or three hours after he had left. Sven Hedin also hoped that he would return to camp before the wind rose.

Eldic couldn't have gone wrong as soon as he set off, he was supposed to be heading due north, but he ran due west, twisting a full 90 degrees. Even if he had lost his way at the beginning and ran to L.A., the ancient city of Loulan directly east of the camp, it would have been impossible for him to cross the desert with complex terrain and no reference that night, return to L.B., and then successfully retrieve the shovel thrown on the ground in the dark night when he couldn't reach his fingers, and then catch up with the expedition. It is impossible to do it with just one colt, even in the daytime, with GPS in hand......

If the ancient kingdom of Loulan was not discovered by Sven Heding, then who discovered it?

Perhaps, it slept under the sea of sand for thousands of years, and finally was unwilling to be lonely and slowly climbed out on its own......

In 1979, the Sino-Japanese co-production TV documentary "Silk Road" discovered a tomb of the ancient Loulan people and excavated a complete ancient Loulan female corpse. She was encased in a coffin made of two hollowed-out tree trunks, with a thin face, a pointed nose, deep sunken eye sockets, and brown shawl hair. The upper body is wrapped in a coarse wool blanket, the lower body is wrapped in a sheepskin, wearing a pair of suede shoes, wearing a felt hat, the spire of the felt hat is lined with colorful feathers, the brim is decorated with red velvet, and the neck is wrapped around a fluffy fur fur, which is both beautiful and warm...... It has been determined that she is an ancient corpse 3,800 years ago, and that she is a bride. For a time, the title of "Loulan Beauty" resounded all over the world......

Who is she?

Nobody knows.

The mystery, the mystery, the mystery...... Lop Nur is full of "mysteries".

Baisha replaced me and drove.

After more than an hour, our car slowly approached the vast and mysterious ruins.

If this is the ancient country of Loulan, then our current location should be on the west bank of Lop Nur, and we can walk 220 kilometers southwest to get out of Lop Nur......

Two or three miles away from the ruins, the car could not move forward, so Bai Sha and I got out of the car.

The spoon and the big thing then drove over and got out of the car.

Spoon asked, "What are you doing here without looking for a camp?" ”

I said, "The front may be the ruins of the ancient country of Loulan, don't you want to see it?" ”

The spoon looked forward and said, "Are you still in the mood for sightseeing?" It's getting dark! ”

I walked up to him and said, "If we are sure that this is the Loulan site, we will know our current coordinates." And we're sure we'll be able to find a permanent protection officer. ”

The spoon stopped talking.

Bai Sha and I walked in front, and he and Dawu followed.

This is the Yadan landform, high and low, deep and shallow, with raised high slopes, sudden deep ditches, and dry and hard ancient river channels. The road under our feet seemed to be riddled with shell craters, and vehicles could not walk at all.

We walked, and it was just as hard, very slow.

I don't know why, I have a strong premonition - that An Chunhong is waiting for us in front. This weird ruin is the end of my life.

Once inside the walls of the ruins, it was already dark. We didn't see the legendary barbed wire.

As far as the eye can see, the panorama is at least 100 square kilometers, full of ruins and broken walls made of earth and sand, standing alone, dignified and dignified, lifeless, desolate and tragic.

Between the walls, you can occasionally see scattered poplar trees, all of which are dry and cracked. You can also see several animal bones and ancient porcelain pieces.

There was not a single figure.

There was no sound except the wind.

I walked slowly inward, feeling empty.

This place used to be full of people, once prosperous merchants, once gave birth to children, and used to sing songs every night...... Now, those people have disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye.

Just like an office building, during the day, people come and go, busy, and at night, all the people are empty, and it becomes a dead silence. Countless footprints are printed on the corridors, large and small, layered on top of each other......

I seem to be able to feel that there are countless footprints and hoof prints buried in this yellow sand.

I never saw the famous "three rooms". The "three rooms" are the highest specifications in the Loulan ruins, and it is suspected to be the official office at that time.

I'm more and more suspicious that this isn't Loulan anymore. Have I become the second Eldic and discovered another ancient ruin?

The spoon stopped, sat down on a sand dune, took off his tourist shoes and rubbed his feet.

He said, "I got blisters on my feet and I won't leave." You can't walk through this hellish place in a day. ”

Bai Sha looked at me, I looked around and shouted, "Hey! Anyone? ”

I wish there was a man out of nowhere, who came up to us on a motorcycle, and shouted, "What are you shouting! This is the heritage reserve, who let you in! ”

No one responded.

I shouted again, "Hey! Is there anyone here! ”

Still no one responded.

Bai Sha suddenly tugged at me.

I turned my head to look at him, he was staring at the front left, and whispered, "Listen......"

When I looked over, about a few dozen meters away in front of the left, there were two relatively well-preserved walls, in the shape of "L".

I said, "What do you hear?" ”

Bai Sha said, "It seems that there is a woman's voice......"

I immediately shouted again, "Hey! Is anyone there? ”

Spoon was already shoeed, he stood up, strode over, and muttered, "Look at it!" ”

We followed.

The terrain of those two walls is a bit high, and you need to go up a slope. The spoon climbed up with two clicks, and he looked around the two walls, and came down again: "There's a rotten log." ”

Bai Sha was unwilling, turned his body and listened again.

The spoon said, "If you don't go, we'll go." Big thing! ”

The big thing said, "Ah." ”

The spoon said, "Follow me!" ”

Bai Sha said, "Wait! ”

Spoons and big things stopped.

Bai Sha looked to the right, there was a wall, said it was a wall, but it was no different from a mound of earth, bare, and the desert wind had worn away all its edges and corners.

Bai Sha walked over slowly.

At this time, I also heard a woman's *voice!

For a moment, I seemed to be back to that dream: a large body of water, surrounded by what seemed to be golden sand, and a woman, draped in golden flowers, stood in the middle of the water, smiling and hooking her hands at me......

Sure enough, she's here!

My heart was pounding, and I felt like we were close to the end of the mystery!

How many days and nights of life and death struggle, how many times of hope and despair...... Today, it's finally time to see the difference! I didn't know if I was excited or scared, so I took a deep breath and followed.

White Sand circled to the other side of the wall and stared at the ground, his eyes wide.

I said, "Who?" ”

Bai Sha didn't answer, still staring at the earthen wall, as if he was dumbfounded.

I walked over and looked, dumbfoundedβ€”in the dim twilight, the white-haired An Chunhong was half-leaning on the root of the earthen wall, his eyes slightly closed, his face pale, and he seemed to be dying. Her hair, her clothes, and her feet were covered with a thick layer of dust, and it was evident that she hadn't stood up for a long time. Next to it was her rucksack, the bottom of which was already buried in sand.

How did she become like this?

How did she get so far away?
