Chapter 3: The Tale of the Fisherman and the Devil

Once upon a time, there was an elderly fisherman on the Red Sea who made a living by fishing every day. In addition to his wife, the old fisherman had three children who depended on him for support, so his family was very poor and had a difficult life. Although he fished for a living, he had a strange habit of catching only four nets a day, and never wanted to catch more nets. The reason is that when the old fisherman was still a young fisherman, such an incident happened. On that day, when he rowed a small boat out to sea to fish, and when he cast his first net, he was full of faith, blessed Allah and prayed that Allah would bless him with a full load.

But the first net found nothing. The fisherman was not discouraged, and cast a second net full of hope, and was eager to catch a big fish, but still could not catch a single fish. When the third net was cast, the fisherman felt a little uneasy, and he kept calling Allah's name but still to no avail. When the fourth net was cast, the fisherman prayed to Allah in frustration that he could bring a few small fish in the net, but he was disappointed.

The young fisherman was furious and swore an oath: "If only this net will allow me to catch even one fish, even if I will repay the devil's favor!" As he spoke, he cast the fifth net down. This time, there was a big net full of fish on the net. While the fisherman was rejoicing, the sky suddenly changed and the waves of the sea were turbulent. The fisherman was frightened, wondering if his oath in the fifth net had angered the gods, and he rowed home. After that, nothing happened, but the fisherman never dared to cast a fifth net again, and only caught four nets a day. It wasn't until decades later that he became an old fisherman, and he never made an exception.

At noon on this day, the old fisherman came to the beach again, laid down the fish cage, rolled up his sleeves, went into the water to arrange it, and then cast his net into the sea. After waiting for a while, he began to close the net. The net was so heavy that he couldn't pull it up no matter how hard he tried. He had no choice but to go back to shore, lay a stake on the shore, tie the net to the stake, then take off his clothes, dive to the bottom of the sea, and try his best, until finally the net was put away. Then he returned to shore with joy, got dressed, and looked carefully into the net. But there was only one dead donkey in the net, and the net was broken by the dead donkey. Seeing this, he was very depressed and sighed: "There is no choice but to hope that Allah, the God Almighty, will save him." It's weird to get this kind of thing online!"

After that, he said to himself in a depressed mood: "Let's play another net." For Allah's blessings, I may be rewarded. The fisherman sorted things out, wrung out his nets, and brought them to the water, saying, "In the name of Allah." "While casting the net into the sea. After the net has fallen to the bottom of the sea for a while, the net is closed. This time, the net was heavier, as if a big fish had been caught. He tied up the net, took off his clothes, dived to the bottom of the sea, and took great pains to get the net ashore.

However, inside it is just a clay jar filled with sediment. The fisherman was not reconciled, threw away the clay pot, prayed to the heavens, and then went down into the water again, cast his net, and pulled the rope tightly. It had been a long time before he began to retract the net, but this time it was all broken bones, broken glass, and all sorts of shells. This made the old fisherman angry and sad, and he looked up at the sky and said: "O Allah! I only catch four nets a day, and today I have hit three nets, and I still haven't caught a single fish. Give me food and clothing, O Allah, for this is my last net. ”

Reciting the name of Allah, the God Almighty, he threw his net into the sea, and after a while he began to collect it, but it could not be pulled, as if it were one with the bottom of the sea. The fisherman had no choice but to dive into the water again, and after some fumbling and hard work, he finally got the net out of the sea. When I opened it, it was a gall-shaped brass bottle. The mouth of the bottle is sealed with tin, and the seal of Suliman bin Dawood (note: son of David, famous god of Solomon) is bought. Looking at the bottle, the fisherman smiled and said to himself: "This bottle can be sold for ten gold coins when it is brought to the market!"

He picked up the bottle and shook it, it was heavy and seemed to be full of things. He said to himself: "What is in this bottle - I swear by Allah that I will open it and see it before I sell it on the market." The knife on his body slowly peeled off the tin from the mouth of the bottle, then turned the bottle upside down, holding the bottleneck and shaking it a few times. so that the contents can be poured out. But there was nothing, and the fisherman was very strange. After waiting for a while, a puff of green smoke came out of the bottle, fluttered into the air, then filled the earth, and gradually shrunk into a ball, and this green smoke finally condensed into a devil.

He stood in front of a fisherman with a man-like head and an iron fork-like arm, a mast like a cave, a mouth like a cave, teeth like a stone, nostrils like a trumpet, eyes like a lantern, strange shapes, fierce and ugly.

The fisherman was so frightened by the devil's strange appearance that his whole body trembled, and he shook his teeth, trembling, and did not know what to do. After a while, he heard the devil say: "Allah is the only Lord and Suliman is his follower." O Messenger of Allah, I will no longer dare to disobey you, forgive me!" You said...... Suliman—" said the fisherman tremblingly, "but Suliman has been dead for 1,800 years, and it is now the last century after Suliman. How could you strange devil get into a bottle—tell me. The devil ignored the fisherman's question and said: "Allah is the only one!" O fisherman, let me give you good tidings. "What good news are you going to give me-" "What good news-I'm going to kill you right away!"

The fisherman was so frightened that he was terrified: "I fished you out of the sea to land, released you from the gall bottle, and saved your life, why do you kill me-did I commit any sin in saving you-" "Tell me, what kind of death do you wish to choose--How will I execute you-" "What crime have I committed?" What are you going to do to me—" asked the fisherman pitifully. The devil looked at him and said, "Listen to my story, fisherman, and you will understand." I am an evil and heretical god who does all kinds of evil, and I have angered the great god Suliman ibn Dawood by rebelling against his teachings. He sent the vizier Baruhaya to arrest me and persuade me to convert to his teachings, but I refused. So he commanded that this jar of gall should be brought and that I should be imprisoned, and that my mouth should be sealed with tin, and that I should be sealed, and then he commanded the gods to cast me into the sea, and that I should not come out. ”

"I spent my days in the sea in a dull place. In the first century. I thought to myself, 'Whoever saves me in these hundred years, I will repay him and use my power to make him prosperous and rich all his life.' But a hundred years have passed, and no one has come to save me: in the second century, I thought, 'Whoever rescues me in this century, I will use my power to develop the treasure of the earth for him.'" But still no one came to save me: in the third century, I thought, 'Who saved me in this century?' I will repay him and fulfill his three wishes. In the fourth century I thought, 'Whoever saved me at this time, I would be grateful to him and grant him a wish.' But after 400 years, no one came to my rescue. I was so angry that in the fifth century I swore that 'Whoever comes to my rescue at this time, I will kill him!' However, I can let him choose how to die. You saved me at this time, and therefore I will kill you, but I will let you choose the way you want to die. ”

The fisherman was horrified, and remembered that the incident in his youth had an astonishing coincidence with the devil's encounter, and secretly thought that this was the arrangement of fate in the dark. It was the recklessness and stupidity of his youth that caused this disaster. Fearful and desperate, he pleaded: "Lord Demon God, Allah the Almighty God will forgive you, please forgive me, please don't kill me!" I'm going to kill you! Tell me, how do you want to die-" "I saved your life, can't you spare me for the sake of this affection-" "It's because you saved me that I'm going to kill you." Don't say more, you have to die. In despair, the fisherman thought to himself - he is only a devil, and I am a human being. Allah, the Almighty God, has given me the wisdom of man, and I should use strataggery against him. I will overwhelm his demonic spirit with cunning and reason—and he said to the devil, "Do you really have to kill me?" "I beg you in the name of Allah, the God Almighty, that I ask you one thing and you must tell the truth." When the devil heard Allah's name, he trembled and said: "Okay, ask, let's be simple." ”

"It's strange that you lived in this gut bottle in the first place. This gall bottle can't hold even one of your hands, let alone one of your legs, how does it fit your huge body-" "Don't you believe I was in this bottle in the first place-" "I didn't see it with my own eyes, it's absolutely hard to believe. Then the devil became triumphant, and he turned into green smoke, which gradually shrank into a wisp, and slowly burrowed into the gall bottle. After the fisherman waited for all the green smoke to enter the bottle, he quickly picked up the tin seal with the seal, plugged the mouth of the bottle, and then said loudly: "Tell me, devil, how do you want to die-" The devil's body was imprisoned in the bottle, and he wanted to get out, but he was blocked by Suliman's seal, and could not return outside, only then did he know that he had been deceived by the fisherman, and in his panic, he said: "Fisherman, spare me, let me repay you well." "Damn the devil! Do you still want to deceive me - Allah the Almighty God will forgive you if you do not intend to harm me, but if you are bent on killing me, of course I will put you in a jar of gall and throw you into the sea!" The devil cried: "In the name of Allah, you cannot do this!" I have done something against my conscience, but you are a good human being, and you should forgive me. The ancients said: Evildoers repay virtue with resentment, and their bad deeds will cause him to reap the consequences of his own deeds - I am now fully awake!"

"Don't say it, I must throw you into the sea, so that you will never come out! I rescued you at the beginning, but you had to kill me, which shows that you are very bad. Not only will I throw you into the sea, but I will also build a house and live here, so that no one will ever fish on this sea. I want to tell people that there is a devil here, and whoever wants to get him out of the sea will repay him with a grudge and let that man choose his own way of death, and be killed by him!" The devil trembled with fear in the bottle, and he said as modestly as he could: "Let me out, fisherman!" This is your chance to speak of righteousness. I have made a vow to you that I will not harm you henceforth, and that I will give you one thing, which will make you rich. ”

"Shameless devil! It's ridiculous that you're lying like that. "The fisherman took the jar to the shore and was ready to throw it into the sea." No, I don't dare lie!" The devil pleaded bitterly in the bottle, "I have done all the bad things, but I have sworn that I will keep my word." There was a fisherman who begged me to give him a full load of fish, and I fulfilled his wish, but his promise to repay me never came true—and that is why I was so resentful of mankind that I swore to kill those who rescued me. But you, good fisherman, if you give me another chance, I will repay you by Allah and Allah!"

The fisherman was secretly surprised in his heart - all the causes and conditions were caused by himself. He couldn't help but hesitate. The devil is still crying out. When the fisherman saw that the devil had sworn in Allah's name, he was finally moved by him and accepted the devil's request. They agreed that the fisherman would release the devil, and that the devil would not harm the fisherman, and that he would repay the fisherman with his power.

The fisherman opened the mouth of the bottle, and the puff of green smoke came out of the bottle again, and rose into the air, gradually gathering and becoming the hideous devil. As soon as the devil got out of the gall bottle, he kicked the gall bottle into the sea. The fisherman was astonished when he saw the devil kicking the jar into the sea, and sighed to himself: This is not a good sign—— he plucked up the courage and said: "Allah, O god of the devil, has said: 'You should keep the covenant, for it will be subject to scrutiny.' Thou hast made a covenant with me, and swore not to deceive me. If you do not break the contract, Allah will not punish you. For Allah, though forgiving, is never negligent. ”

The devil stared at the fisherman and burst out laughing. After laughing, he walked forward, and said as he walked: "Fisherman, come with me, and I will take you to a place." ”
