55. Utility room

When I pushed open the wooden door and saw through the light from the living room, I felt like it was dazzling. What he calls the "utility room" is, to me, an antique gallery. It is divided into three rows of mahogany shelves, and each row of shelves is made into three layers, with objects about 20 centimeters apart from each other, and they are arranged very neatly.

If you look closely, you will find that the seemingly messy display has its classification, for example, the innermost row is fragile porcelain, the middle row is metal collections, the closest to the door is the disc he auctioned at the auction, and the outermost row of shelves is equipped with long cloth boxes, according to my experience, most of them are calligraphy and paintings.

An easel, a drawing board, and a set of tools lay haphazardly on the ground in front of the shelf. I couldn't help but open a plush box as I walked over, and sure enough, as I expected, I looked back at the door, thinking that since he let me in, I should not be allowed to touch it. I took out the scroll and opened it carefully, my eyes quickly flickered, and I was surprised to open another box, and after looking at three or four boxes in a row, I was already speechless.

If I was surprised to see Zhang Daqian's "Songshan Wonderland" in the main hall of the mansion in front of me, then the collection here is not Qi Baishi's "Shrimp", or Zheng Xie's (Banqiao) bamboo, and even Tang Bohu's "Kuanglu Map"!

I didn't dare to think about how many of these treasures were hidden in the whole three rows, and these random ones would be offered to the museum, but they just lay here quietly.

After sighing, I feel emotional, many people may think that these paintings that represent the rings of history are hidden in such a way that they are dusty, and they should be displayed in front of people, so that more people can enjoy them. But in my opinion, painting is just a tool used by the painter to sketch what he sees, and the object in the painting is what the painter sees from his own perspective, it is single, not yours, nor mine. I believe that the mood of the vast majority of painters at that time was to be able to understand its meaning, rather than to be admired and appreciated by future generations.

But in the world of materialism, with the passage of time and the name that has been wantonly promoted, the best paintings have been designated as priceless, and they will lie in the museum forever. However, among the thousands of people who walked by it, how many of them could truly understand the mood of the painter at that time, and how many of them really understood the value of its existence? Rather than that, it's better to leave it to those who really understand it.

I returned to the hall with the easel tools, but my mind had not yet returned from that room, so that Gu Xi said something to me and did not hear anything clearly. When I realized that the atmosphere was not right, I came back to my senses and saw that he had stopped what he was doing and was looking at me quietly.

His eyes flashed, and there was a mockery in his eyes: "Flashed by those paintings?" How unproductive! If you like it, you can pick one of them when you fix it for me. ”

The uncontrollable acceleration of the heartbeat is a huge temptation. But I immediately shook my head and refused: "No need." ”

"What? Are you afraid that the painting will bite you, or are you afraid that I will be reluctant to give it back? Gu Xi asked with interest.

I shook my head, "I can't afford to keep that painting." He scoffed unceremoniously. But I'll be honest, paper may not corrode as easily as copper, but it has a certain focus on the humidity of the air.

The weather in the south in June was so humid that I was afraid that within a month of taking that painting, there would be mildew, and it would really be a pearl falling into the dust and ruined by my hands. And the room that Gu Xi called the utility room, I have carefully observed, is specially treated, the wall paint and floor are moisture-proof, and the space should be dehumidified from time to time. And those collections must be managed and protected by special personnel.

Therefore, people don't want to take it for themselves because of its preciousness, but they don't know that when this thing becomes yours, it will depreciate with the conditions that do not allow it and you don't cherish it.
