Chapter 1: Nightmares
Pierce walked into another passage, which had gone up for a while and then suddenly began to slope downward, and although he was a little uneasy, he still chose to follow the guidance of the mysterious voice and continue to walk cautiously along the passage.
They were still chanting the strange prayers, and although the words made his head buzz, he could still clearly hear the mysterious voices guiding through his mind, as if the notes melted in an instant after touching the mysterious sound.
The exit of the tunnel is located above the cave, and along the cave wall, there is a path that seems to be a natural spiral, like a thread in a nut, with a gentle slope, so that there are no steps.
At the base of the cave is a stone platform surrounded by a ring of green torches, making the dark rock appear to be an emerald color.
On the stone platform lay a man, dressed in a black robe covering his whole body tightly, with his hands flat at his sides.
He wears a black hood and a mask over his face. The mask was golden, with two large round holes in the eyes, the mask had no nose, it was flanked by two small fangs that curved upwards where it was, and at the bottom of the mask were a jumble of twisted octopus tentacles, which made Pierce feel as if it had a life of its own writhing in the shaking light of the fire.

"I said, don't move, I'll shoot if I take a step further." The policeman roared violently, but the black-robed man ignored him at all, and slowly approached him step by step as if he was walking in the backyard of his own house.
Then the piercing gunshot rang out, and Pierce saw the figure of the black-robed man paused, but did not fall, and the gunshots rang out several times in a row, each time it sounded, the black-robed man could fall backwards for a while, but he would immediately continue to approach as if nothing happened.
With a thud, the black-robed man's mask fell to the ground, and Pierce was horrified to see the ugly and misshapen face beneath his mask - the right side of his face was a normal human face, but the skin on the left side of his face was rough, like scales, and an unnatural red color, and covered with bulges the size of eggs.
A blue eye that did not look like a human shone with a malicious glint in the envelope of these bulging packets.
The most terrifying thing was his chin, the right side of his face was a circle of rough beards, and the distorted left side was covered with small octopus tentacles of different thicknesses and lengths.
They are truly animate, for they are constantly coiling and twisting in the air. Pierce even saw three stout tentacles protruding from his right cuff, as if in advance for the next move.
Pierce speculated if some kind of sea beast had nested here, but if there was such a fish-eating beast, it would have been made up of fish bones in its nest, which was clearly not the case here.
These fish have terrible wounds on their bodies, they are torn, their flesh splattered everywhere, but they don't seem to be abating—if such a giant beast really exists, then these fish should not be for food, it may just be just biting at them for fun.
"No!" The power that had frozen Pierce suddenly disappeared, and a scream came out of his throat that he didn't even notice, and the heads of the monster and the policeman turned to his side, and he was surprised to see that the monster's evil face actually had a strange smile, and the policeman, he had no face, above the collar of the police uniform, below the police hat, Pierce saw the head of a cloth dummy, and the smooth face did not even have the outline of the facial features.
Soon, his eyes were finally able to see clearly, and although the focus was not perfect, it was enough to see what kind of place he was in—a cavern carved out of the sea, surrounded by craggy reefs that grew ugly and haphazardly, and he was in a depression, surrounded by a mess of fish corpses, and on the ground was a layer of rancid slime soaked in seawater.
So Pierce tried to hold his breath to avoid the stench, but every careful breath after holding his breath became a crazy revenge for the stench.
But on the bright side, perhaps stimulated by the stench, his consciousness was rapidly recovering.
"Go this way." He also noticed that there seemed to be an upward stone staircase at the back of the great fish slaughterhouse, and because the faint and strange light of the fire seemed to be getting higher and higher, he did not want to linger in this terrible place for a second, so he cautiously walked through the fish bones, and forced himself not to look at the terrible remains.
Beside him stood a black-robed man, also wearing the same strange mask, raising his hands above his head, chanting loudly in an unknown language.
The fish were all enormous, and looked as if they had been bitten by some giant beast, with flesh, entrails, and bones strewn everywhere, and some of the fish that were still intact were covered in hideous wounds.
