Chapter 42: The Last Lunch
Lifus and Peregrine Falcon walk the streets of Lhasa, where daytime temperatures can still reach above zero during the season, so there is no snow on the streets.
Occasionally, a mouse or two would sneak around the streets, looking for something, and they weren't too scared to see humans.
The peregrine falcon didn't know what Lifuss had for bringing him here, so he didn't ask, and after finding the team leader, he didn't bother to worry about it now.
According to the pre-war map kept in the hard drive of his brain and the geographical location in the monkey table, Lifus soon found the largest underground cold storage in Lhasa.
The cold storage is about fifty meters underground, and the entrance is blocked by the floor slabs and debris that have collapsed from a high-rise building.
Lifus found a small forklift in a sloping warehouse that could be driven, which was used to load and unload goods.
Heavy large floor slabs and boulders were pushed away by forklifts, and the two of them cleaned up for a long time and finally let the underground entrance of the cold storage be exposed.
"I finally know what you're going to do now." Peregrine said with a smile that this way of doing things was in Livers's usual style.
"Isn't that a tradition of our Group of Seven?" Lifus said with a smile.
"Is there anything I need to do?" The peregrine falcon is clearly relying on his body to be ill and want to be lazy.
"You go and clean up there." Lifus pointed to the rows of benches next to the street for passers-by to rest, and said to the peregrine falcon, turning and walking into the entrance of the underground cold storage.
Peregrine falcon found a worn-out iron plate and set it on top of the two rows of benches in the middle to make a simple table, and watched as Lifus kept tinkering with things from the cold storage exit.
Two pressure cookers, an induction cooker, a large vat of ice-water mixture, a bundle of cables with sockets, a large pile of ingredients, and a couple of stainless steel basins.
The pressure cooker and the induction cooker are all electrified, the pressure cooker cooks sausages, bacon and ham, and the stainless steel basin on top of the cooker is filled with clean water for slices of meat, mushrooms, vermicelli and vegetables.
"What do you see I found in the pantry?" Livers came out of the cold storage once more, carrying two crates of red wine.
Cracking the code for the security door of the underground cold storage was as easy as unlocking a Rubik's cube for Lifus, and it was obviously not the first time they had done such a thing, but it was the first time for the two of them.
Lifus bit the cork of the bottle with his teeth, threw a bottle to the peregrine falcon, and then opened the bottle himself and took a big sip, the mellow liquid stimulating the taste buds and relieving the bitterness in his heart.
"The best Turpan grapes are made from the best Turpan grapes, which were all drunk by the leading cadres of the state in the past, how can we be qualified to enjoy them." Lifus sighed, "This is also a kind of borrowing someone else's wine glass to pour a block in my chest." ”
The peregrine falcon took out a piece of chopsticks from the boiling water and ate it eagerly.
"We're on the plateau now." Lifus did not forget to remind him.
"It's okay, these meats have been frozen for more than 20 years, and even if there is brucella, they will die a long time ago." I haven't touched meat for more than a month, and the peregrine falcon now wants to go up and nibble on raw meat when it sees it.
Lifus fished a sausage out of the pressure cooker and cut it in two with a dagger, he reclined on a bench with his legs on the table, slowly eating the sausage and drinking the red wine, the food was not important to him now, it was important to enjoy the feeling.
"We're the Last Supper, aren't we?" The peregrine falcon kept stuffing its mouth with food, and finally felt half full.
"It's just the last lunch." Lifus lay on the bench, his feet stretched higher than his head, "Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch?" When I catch this man, I'm going to have to whip him. ”
"People say that there is no feast in the world that will not be dispersed, how good it is! Don't you see that a dozen of us also said that we would disperse? The peregrine falcon remembered the time when his comrades-in-arms had dinner together in the past, and he was a little emotional.
"That's right, there is no feast in the world, which philosopher said this? That's the truth! For the sake of the truth, I have to pay homage to this philosopher. Lifus raised his head and took a big sip of wine, thinking that he and Lin Xuexi were also separated.
But what if it doesn't disperse? Can we be together forever? Birth, old age, sickness and death, no one can avoid it, so when facing life and death in the future, won't it be even more painful?
Separation is inevitable unless eternal life is possible.
