Chapter 50: Why the Creation of "Wenxin Carving Dragon"

Previous Chapter

What exactly is "Wenxin"? To put it simply: it is the intention of writing an article; If you talk about it in detail, it refers to all the thoughts, ideas, intentions and purposes of the author when writing an article. Lu Ji said in "Wenfu": "Every time you look at the works of talented people, you steal them to get their intentions." The meaning of this phrase is, "When I read someone else's work, I can read the writer's mind and intention." In addition, among the scholars under the Qin and Han dynasties, there was a Juan Zi (whose name is to be determined) who wrote "Qin Xin", and a "Qiao Xin" written by Wang Sun Tzu (whose name is unknown), all of whom put the word "heart" into the title of the book, and expressed the writing wish and the content of the book almost perfectly. Therefore, I directly chose the word "Wenxin" in the title to indicate that this book is related to the content of the written article. As for the word "carved dragon", because the ancients wrote articles, some of them were called "carved into the body", which meant that it was like carving the thick wood into a dragon totem, and this has nothing to do with the meaning of "carving the dragon" that only pays attention to the fine carving, so it is mysterious, and the god is like it.

From ancient times to the present, the universe is vast, time is vast, and in the world alone, it originally belonged to the miscellaneous places such as the wise, the foolish, the virtuous, and the people of all colors, and the level of knowledge is uneven; Among them, the so-called outstanding ones are only those who have a unique point in terms of intellectual talents. Needless to say, everyone's age naturally ends at times, and life is destined to end, and only the tangible artistic masterpieces created in the years of life can survive and benefit future generations. All things in heaven and earth are not only different in shape, but also purple and red, and even more meteorological; Among them, the basis for the so-called conception and metamorphosis is only the change of the five elements and the change of yin and yang. Summing up a person's life, he can write it only by his facial features, just like a thunderous thunderbolt, or a majestic rhyme masterpiece that seems to be changing. Isn't all this beyond the limitations of heaven and earth, time and space! Isn't it that it has surpassed the natural creation of tens of millions of things, which is equivalent to the magical beauty of ingenuity. Therefore, even if the body is as fragile and ephemeral as a moth mustard, the fame and honor of a lifetime will be as lasting and immortal as a treasure of gold and stone. The ancient sages repeatedly preached that "a gentleman should behave in the world and make a moral suggestion." The ideal is not to play with words to deceive people, but to pour out people's true feelings for themselves in the face of limited life, generous lamentations and bloody swan songs.

When I was seven years old, I dreamed that the clouds in the sky were as brilliant as a tapestry, and they were within reach. When I was thirty years old, I dreamed that I was walking south behind Confucius with a red ritual vessel. When I woke up at dawn, I was ecstatic...... It's amazing, and it's so rare to know how rare a saint is! even dreamed of favoring a nobody like me. Because in my mind, since the beginning of human beings, there has been no one who can catch up with the greatness of Sage Confucius. So, I meditated and thought that if I could thank the heavens and the saints for their patronage, and it was worth devoting my life to the cause, there would be no better way to organize the books and annotate the scriptures like the saints of Confucius. However, behind the Confucian saints, great Confucians like Ma Rong and Zheng Xuan have already carried forward the scriptures so broad and profound, even if I work hard, it is impossible to find another way, so as to surpass my predecessors. However, when it comes to the problems in the text, especially its own characteristics and artistic laws as a cultural carrier, although this part of the content is nothing more than a green branch and green leaf as a foil for the flowery and fruitful scriptures. However, in real life, the "Five Rites" (referring to auspicious rites, murder etiquette, protocol etiquette, military etiquette, and Jia Li) that stipulate how everyone interacts are inseparable from him, and the "Six Classics" (that is, governing the rituals, rituals, political codes, criminal codes, and affairs codes) that govern social tranquility are inseparable from him; Even among the emperors and generals, they need to rely on him in order to understand each other, communicate with each other and communicate together, and all the important military and political affairs of the country need to pass through him, so as to be able to relax and achieve peace. Therefore, even if we study, analyze, and explain the genre, rhetoric, content, and other subtleties of the text, we must eventually trace back to the substance of the text. However, with the passage of time, especially with the vastness of the anthology and its renovation, subsequent scholars are not only dazzled, but also hold on to one end, and even have finally been; In addition, since the Han and Jin dynasties, it is obvious that the temperament of literati writers has become more and more fond of curiosity, especially the exaggerated and grotesque, and blindly pursue the flamboyant colors of the form, and more and more concentrate on the extreme well-behaved in the details...... Such a culturally fashionable society will inevitably make the deviant drifter farther and farther away, and the cultural habits that accompany false rumors will be difficult to change, which will eventually lead to the traditional culture going astray and obsessive. "Shangshu, Zhou Shu, Bi Life" has long pointed out: "The words are still decent, not only different." And in the "Analects of Politics", it has been emphasized: "If you attack heresy, you will also be harmed." The purpose of their teachings and teachings is to require that when writing articles, they must be clear about their priorities and never abandon their roots. With this in mind, I began to work on this book.

Throughout the history of the development of Chinese culture, it is only in modern times that professional works similar to commentary articles have gradually increased. For example, Cao Pi's "Classics and Treatises", Cao Zhi's "Book with Yang Dezu", Yingchang's "Literary Treatise", Lu Ji's "Wenfu", Zhiyu's "Essay on the Flow of Articles", Li Chong (birth and death year unknown, Hongfan, Eastern Jin Dynasty writer, literary theorist, bibliographer) "Hanlin Treatise" and so on. However, as critical literature, their argumentative and evaluative horizons are as narrow as hiding in the corners, rather than standing in the middle of a road that extends in all directions, not only with a far-sighted vision, but also with the ability to carry forward the past and forge ahead into the future. Therefore, some of their existing commentaries only praise and disparage the popular masterpieces of the time, some limit themselves to commenting on the masterpieces of the previous generation, some simply criticize the elegance and vulgarity of ancient and modern works, and some summarize the gains and losses of the articles and texts...... If we evaluate the gains and losses of such critical works, such as Cao Pi's "Classics and Essays", although detailed and specific, is not comprehensive, while Cao Zhi's "Book with Yang Dezu", although well-reasoned, is not fair; Ying Ling's "Literary Theory" is gorgeous and concise, quite empty, while Lu Ji's "Wenfu" is subtle in wording and feels trivial; Zhiyu's "Essay on the Flow of Articles" is profound and unique, and the language is not refined enough, while Li Chong's "Treatise on Hanlin" is simple and generalized, and the speculation is thin. In addition, there are Huan Tan, Liu Zhen, Ying Zhen, Lu Yun and others, who occasionally evaluate and comment in their articles, and their words are amazing, even if the judgment conclusion is accurate, they lack to trace the source, let alone explore the value and significance of literary criticism. In fact, if any cultural issue cannot be truly comprehensively and incisively narrated, demonstrated and judged like the sages and sages, then no matter whether there have been gains and losses in the past achievements, it will certainly not become an experience or lesson in the sense of cultural inheritance! Therefore, how can they become cultural contributions that "promote their strengths and avoid their weaknesses, benefit the present generation, and benefit the future generations"?

In terms of the overall design and text structure of "Wenxin Carving Dragon", in short, it is "the Tao, the teacher is sacred, the body is the scriptures, the weft is considered, and the changes are complacent"; Specifically, it is to take the natural morality of the universe as the purpose, openly respect the sages and sages as teachers, take the classics as a stylistic benchmark for reading and learning, refer to the study methods and methods of Weishu, follow the artistic laws that have evolved into a style like the "Book of Songs", and try to explain and analyze many key issues in the writing of articles through examples and inspections.

Whenever an article is evaluated, or it is said to be literary criticism and literary criticism, the first step is to properly classify it, just like the popular discourse of "rhyme for the text, no rhyme for the pen"; Then, it is to get to the root of the problem; Further, establish the concept of name and definition; Subsequently, select representative example sentences, that is, illustrate with examples; Finally, the characteristics are summarized and the value and significance of the existence of various categories are clarified. In the first half of the book, the first chapters belong to the outline, and the main ideas of the whole book, as well as the above-mentioned classification principles and writing ideas, are basically explained clearly. As for the specific issues of how to distinguish between content and form when writing articles, as well as how to express "sentiments" under different genres, or what characteristics should be used for "literary style", the general arrangement of the content of the chapters is as follows: "Divine Thought" and "Body" are the methods, methods and scales for the expression of feelings and aspirations, "Wind and Bone" and "Stereotype" are to depict the interaction between personality and temperament and the style of the article, "Attached" and "General Change" are to explore the inheritance and development of literary creation, and "Sound Rhythm" and "Practicing Characters" It is to trace the origin trend of rhyme and words from the perspective of reading; In the last part of the book, "Chronology" discusses the close relationship between the rise and fall of literature and the times, "Cai Luo" traces the major writers and their representative works of the past dynasties, "Bosom Friend" explains the difficulty of literary appreciation and evaluation of works, and "Cheng Qi" discusses the relationship between writers' personality and social achievements. Finally, the "Preface" of this chapter not only explains the creative intention and framework structure of the book, but also serves as a preface to the book. In fact, through the later chapters of the second half of the book, the outline of the whole book is also at a glance. As for why there are 50 articles in the whole book, it is based on the mathematics of the Book of Changes, that is, the "Zhou Yi Zhi Ci Shang": "The number of Dayan is fifty, and its use is nine out of forty." So, only 49 of the 50 articles in this book can be used as an artistic guide for the usual article writing.

Needless to say, if it is only for a certain article, it is relatively easy to evaluate it or use it as a preface; If the aim is to sort out and summarize the pros and cons of many articles, it is definitely not an easy task. In fact, it is not difficult to understand the reason in this, that is, just like observing and collecting the feather and skin color of birds and beasts, although it seems to be only a colorful difference in appearance, the texture is fundamentally derived from the breeding and nurturing of individual bones and blood. That is to say, in the face of simple facts that seem to be obvious at a glance, if we deliberately use words and sentences to describe the truth clearly and accurately, then it is often not only extremely difficult to reach such a level and level, but the most difficult thing is the fetters and shortcomings that do not reach the meaning of the words. It is for this reason that if this book is divided into categories, especially the comments and discussions during the audit examples, if it is similar or similar to others, it is by no means the same as everyone else, but it should be so. If it is different or contrary to others, it is not a matter of being innovative, but a matter of course. As for the specific reasons for the similarities or differences, it is by no means whether these evaluations originate from the ancients or the present, but mainly the more fair and fair judgment conclusions that can be obtained through specific analysis.

Based on the present, look around the literary scene of the past and present, and try to see all the famous figures and all their masterpieces as much as possible. Although this is the height of the realm that I once tried to achieve at the beginning of the intention of this book. However, in "Zhou Yi Zhi Ci Shang", since Confucius Sage also issued "The book is not exhaustive, and the words are not exhaustive." And like me, how can I fully measure the literary world that needs to be the criterion? Alack! In the long river of past culture, the scriptures are full of books, and the literature is vast, my insights and comments, if I can be among them, it will be a drop in the ocean at most! Looking forward to the slimness of the afterlife, my "Wenxin Carving Dragon" may sink like a stone into the sea, and will eventually be covered with dust.

All in all: life will eventually have a shore at the age of 100, and the ocean of knowledge is boundless; One step to the sky is child's play, and you will be calm when you climb the stairs. It has never been fun to float, and the lonely Dan book is like a face-to-face interview; How can ancient bosom friends meet, and their hearts are clear.
