Chapter 1 Two Strange Rules

Next Chapter

My name is Chen Feng, and I was born in a small mountain village called Shangshui Village in Bashu.

As the saying goes, poor mountains and bad waters come out of the people, but in the same way, there are also strange things, and there is no shortage of strange stories in the mountains and countryside throughout the ages.

I grew up listening to ghost stories told by the villagers, and my grandfather was the one they talked about the most.

My grandfather was a Taoist priest when he was young, and he was famous for his fortune-telling and feng shui all day long, and he made a lot of money in his village.

But the good times didn't last long, my family hasn't been beautiful for a few years, the whole country has risen to break the four olds, my grandfather, a famous Taoist priest, was the first to be deducted the hat of feudal superstition, and was dragged to the street all day long, closed the cowshed, did not give food, others did not like to beat him up, no one dared to say anything to help, almost did not toss to death.

At that time, the whole country happened to open up the wasteland, and the village also responded to the call, and the village chief led people to focus on a hill behind the village, planning to open up the wasteland to farm.

My grandfather knew about it at the time, and found the village chief, saying that this mountain is the feng shui of the village, and the whole mountain range stretches out and half envelops the village, forming a feng shui bureau where the green dragon is lying down, and the people who live in the village will definitely get ahead in the future, even if the prince and general may come out. But if this back mountain is cleared, it will be equivalent to breaking the waist of the green dragon and breaking the feng shui bureau, and at that time, the village will have to suffer a catastrophe.

At that time, the village chief scolded my grandfather for preaching feudal superstition, and led a few people to beat my grandfather and throw him into the cowshed, and then led the villagers up the mountain to clear the wasteland.

The first three days were normal, but at noon on the fourth day, the villagers dug up a pile of dry bones on the back mountain, and these dry bones were not contained in coffins or pottery urns, so they dug a pit and buried them inside.

At that time, the villagers didn't care, so they put the dry bones aside and continued to dig up, but in the next three days, more and more dry bones were dug up, and a three-meter-high mountain of bones was piled up.

At this time, everyone was a little scared, even in that era of not believing in ghosts and gods, digging up a large number of dry bones for four days in a row, this thing was also very strange.

At that time, the village chief asked the villagers to stop digging the land, and planned to report it to the county, so that the county could send someone down to check.

But that night, the village chief died inexplicably, and the death was still very weird, so he knelt in the courtyard of his house, facing the direction of the mountain behind him, his whole body was full of green muscles and blood vessels, his eyes were round, and his mouth kept spitting black blood.

At that time, some people remembered what my grandfather said, saying that it was haunted because of the wind and water in the back mountains. But seven young people in the village didn't believe it, scolded the man, and angrily found my grandfather and beat him.

But the next morning, the seven men who beat my grandfather also died, and the death was as horrible, just like the village chief.

At that time, the people in the village began to panic, and the feng shui that my grandfather said quietly spread in the village, but because of the call to believe in science at that time to defeat all cows, ghosts, snakes and gods, although the people in the village were afraid, no one dared to go to my grandfather.

But in the next three days, there were no more deaths in the village, and the deaths were all the same as the previous village chief and seven young people, and the villagers were completely panicked.

At that time, some people wondered why the people sent by the village chief to report to the county had not returned, so they organized people to go to the county to look for them, but as soon as they walked to the mountain road, they saw the person who went to report was kneeling on the ground, and the death was still the same as that of the village chief.

At this moment, the people in the village couldn't care about anything else, and all the people went to the cowshed to find my grandfather, and served them with delicious food and drink.

My grandfather is also a straightforward person, after eating and drinking, he looked at the people in the village and sighed and said, if you had listened to me, you would not have appeared in this matter at all.

At that time, everyone knelt and begged my grandfather to find a way, and it was time to die, and no one cared about anything else.

My grandfather sighed at the time and asked the villagers to lead a black dog and ten roosters at night and bring ten catties of glutinous rice to the cowshed to find him.

When the villagers saw that my grandfather had agreed to make a move, they hurried home and began to show up, and in the evening, they brought all their things to the cowshed to find my grandfather.

After my grandfather took the things at that time, he asked the villagers to go back to their homes and close the doors and windows, sprinkle glutinous rice at the gate of the yard, and they couldn't come out at night no matter what they heard, and then they took the black dog rooster and glutinous rice up the back mountain.

That night, no one knew what was happening on the back mountain, only that the back mountain rumbled like an earthquake all night, and from time to time there were banging explosions, and the livestock in the village howled all night until dawn, when all of them subsided.

At that time, some brave villagers were curious, and when they looked out through the crack in the door, they saw that my grandfather had returned home in tatters, and at the same time seemed to be carrying something back, but at that time it was foggy, and I didn't see it clearly.

After dawn, the villagers came to my grandfather and asked what happened in the back mountain last night, but my grandfather kept silent, and some people asked me what my grandfather had brought back, and my grandfather also shook his head and said nothing.

In the end, the villagers could only give up and asked my grandfather what to do behind, my grandfather sighed and said, what is the original situation, it will be restored to what it is, the feng shui bureau is not there, but the ancestors in feng shui always have to let them into the earth for peace.

After the villagers experienced this incident, they were also in awe of my grandfather, and no one refuted it, so they all went out on the same day and went up the mountain to start backfilling the cultivated land, but when the villagers went up the mountain, they were shocked to find that the ground that had been excavated before was painted with blood-colored patterns, just like charms, all over the excavated places.

At that time, some people lamented that it was my grandfather who saved the whole village, and then everyone began to backfill the land, and all the dry bones that were dug up were buried back, and the soil was refilled, and according to my grandfather, trees were replanted on top of the soil.

Since then, the situation of dead people in the village has ended, but because there were too many dead people and the matter was too big, the county still sent people down to investigate, and even brought my grandfather back to the county for review, and then I don't know what happened, and released my grandfather back.

I listened to the villagers talk about these things, but what did my grandfather do in the mountains that night besides drawing talismans? What did you bring back? What happened to you after you were called to the prefecture? No one knows.

I also asked my grandfather about this, but he never talked about it, sometimes he thought I was annoyed by asking, and he was beaten up with me.

It's been a lot of beatings, so I won't ask anymore, anyway, I never take these things seriously, thinking that it is probably a story deliberately made up by those old people in the village.

Even my grandfather's identity as a Taoist priest, I have doubted that although since I can remember, my grandfather has opened a paper shop in the county seat that sells dead people's things, but he has no compulsion of a Taoist person except for drinking and being abducted and deceived by a big health care pit.

However, there are indeed two strange rules in my family, one is that I must go home before dark every year for my birthday, and the other is that there is always an ownerless spiritual seat enshrined in my home, and I have to have three incense sticks in the morning and evening, and it has never stopped.

But on my seventeenth birthday, I broke the first rule and it changed my life.
