Chapter 3 The Temple
Halfway up a large pile of sand, I saw where Hasanna was half-lying and half-lying, her head lying on her right arm in the depths, and her left hand propped up on the ground, Ling Moyu struggled to crawl over. Seeing that there were no external injuries and patting her on the shoulder, Hasanna's head moved slightly and spat out a cloudy breath. Ling Moyu breathed a sigh of relief, he helped Hasanna sit up with his right hand, and helped her tidy up her messy long hair.
"Where is this? Are we dead? Hasanna leaned into Ling Moyu's arms and said with difficulty.
"Fortunately, we didn't die, this should be underground, the artillery fire just now collapsed the ground, this is probably the underground palace of the temple." Ling Moyu shone around with a flashlight, observing the surrounding situation.
It turned out to be a magnificent underground palace, just below the temple, but it had never been discovered! It seems that this underground palace is supposed to be older than the temple.
Ling Moyu's flashlight swept across the sand pile opposite, not good! An extremist was pointing an AK at them, and Ling Moyu's spear was missing, leaving only the pistol for self-defense in the holster of his thigh.
He hurriedly shook off his flashlight, wrapped his left hand around Hazanna's waist, and the two of them rolled down from the sand together, "bang, bang, bang" a string of bullets whistling through sparks.
Ling Moyu reached out to touch the pistol, "Oh no! "The pistol is gone, and all that is left is the dagger on the left leg! Seeing that they did not return fire, the enemy estimated that they were out of weapons, and touched them as they strafed.
With the flash of the shot, there was still a distance of about ten meters away from them, Ling Moyu pulled out the dagger with his left hand and threw it at the enemy in a desperate manner. The other party snorted and didn't get up.
He reached for Hasanna, and to his stab at the wound on his left hand was miraculously healed, and more powerful than before, and when he pulled Hassana to the corpse, he saw that the dagger had pierced into the front door with precision.
He didn't have time to think about it, picked up the gun on the ground, and checked the surroundings to make sure that there was no one else, before taking a closer look at the magnificent underground palace.
It is a circular underground building, supported by a dozen stone pillars, surrounded by four passages that spread out in a symmetrical radial pattern. The place where they landed was a corner of the palace, above which was the location of the stone pillars of the temple, which collapsed because of the age, severe weathering, and the blow of a cannonball.
The place where they came in had been buried by quicksand and rubble, and they couldn't get out, there should be other exits to this palace, Ling Moyu thought.
"Can we still get out?" Hassana asked.
"It's hard to say, I don't know what this place is for, if it's a palace buried in quicksand, there should be an exit. If it's a mausoleum, I'm afraid the exit is sealed. Ling Moyu said.
"This is supposed to be a sacrificial temple, all the major civilizations of the world have a tradition of sun worship, and the ancestors of the Middle East are no exception, this temple is shaped like the sun, a circle and radiating rays. It looks older than the temple on the ground, and the style of the building here is very different from the above, not like it was built by the same people. Hassana said.
"I feel that the style of the architecture here is very similar to that of the Sumo civilization, which was the first group of people to enter the civilization in human history, and other civilizations have been more or less influenced by the Sumo civilization. In 3500 B.C., the Sumo created the first civilization in southern Mesopotamia by digging ditches and relying on complex irrigation networks to successfully harness the turbulent waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Hasanna spoke eloquently and knew the history inside out.
"I can't see that you are very good at history, you can't be a historian, right?" Ling Moyu said.
"If it weren't for the war, I would have studied archaeology at Cambridge, and I would have graduated in two years." Hasanna said with a little regret.
"The war is almost over, you can go back and continue your studies, now is the right time to use your expertise to see if there is an escape route." Ling Moyu said.
"We have an ancient legend here from time immemorial to the present day, that at the beginning of the world, the God of Creation foresaw that humanity would eventually fall and destroy nature and the earth. In order to leave a glimmer of hope for the good people who are still alive, he made a key out of his own flesh and bones, and with this key, he can be reborn when the great destruction comes. Hahannah said.
"Almost all ancient peoples have creation myths, but generally there is only the Last Judgment, and there is no story of the whole rebirth after destruction." Ling Moyu was curious.
"This is a myth unique to our nation, and legend has it that this magical key is in a temple, maybe where we are now." Hazanne said.
"Wouldn't that be the best way to dominate the world if you got this key? It's like the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, etc., I just want to get out as soon as possible, and not wait for someone to be mummified and discovered. Ling Moyu said.
As he spoke, he took out the kettle from his backpack and prepared to drink water, but he looked at Hazanne and handed her the kettle. When the kettle returned to Ling Moyu's hand, he realized that there was only a bottom left.
"We need to find our way quickly, or we'll all die of thirst!" Ling Moyu gritted his teeth and said.
The center of this circular hall is a circular altar-like layout, with a stone pillar about one and a half meters high and four symmetrical passages in the center.
"Look, what is this!" Ling Moyu pointed to the stone pillar and said.
Hasanna squatted down, looked at the stone pillar, and found that it was densely carved with triangular symbols, as if it was not carved, and when she touched it with her hand, the stone pillar was flat! It was as if it had been typed by a printer, and the hand felt as smooth as a mirror, and the material of the stone pillar was very peculiar, certainly not stone, as if it was metal or porcelain.
"It's very similar to the cuneiform script used by the Sumo, but it doesn't seem to be the same, the grammatical structure is very different, and it may be a much older cuneiform. It's amazing, it's an earth-shattering discovery, and maybe it will change history! "Hassana was very excited.
"You know cuneiform! Let's see if there's a way out! Ling Moyu was also very happy.
"I don't understand either, these words are older than the ones known, although there are so many words, if you bring this back to Cambridge, it is estimated that it will take less than ten years to completely decipher it!" Hassana was immersed in it.
"Ten years! Then we're really mummies! Ling Moyu said with his teeth gritted.
Ling Moyu put down Hasanna, who was concentrating on studying cuneiform characters, and studied this temple by himself. He found that the temple was supported by 12 pillars, which were 4 to 5 meters high and made the same material as the central pillar, which he had never seen before. And each of the temple's four radioactive passages had three pillars connected to it, as if water or something was flowing into it.
The design here is very precise, there is almost no difference with the naked eye, and the production process of many materials here is amazingly advanced, and the most modern technology can hardly be done, is it really made by the ancients? Ling Moyu couldn't help but wonder if this was a secret military base?
As he looked around the pillars, he suddenly noticed that there was a figure shaking behind one of the pillars! I couldn't help but be shocked, and quietly pulled out the pistol I had just retrieved and touched it.
When Ling Moyu suddenly pointed the beam of the flashlight at that person, he shouted, "Stand up, raise your hands!" The man in the dark shadow staggered in fright and almost fell.
"Don't shoot! I'm a good guy, I surrender! He raised his hands in the air and knelt on the ground.
Ling Moyu shone a flashlight on this face, with an East Asian face, and his accent was a bit like that of an Ise person. "Who are you and how did you end up here?" Ling Moyu asked.
"My name is Koichi Yoshida, I'm from Ise, and I'm a journalist who was captured by them." The man replied nervously.
When Ling Moyu was about to set out on the expedition, he heard that there seemed to be an Ise reporter who had been captured by extremists, and his name was indeed Yoshida Koichi, and this matter was true.
"Do you have any proof of identity?" Ling Moyu was very cautious.
"Yes, my passport and identity documents have been confiscated by them, and I entered the country from Ilion only with the visa given to me by the Ilion government!" As he spoke, he took out a stinking visa from his shoe.
Ling Moyu confirmed his identity and returned the visa to him, "How did you come here?" Then he asked.
"When you were fighting, I was held in a Humvee by them, and it was as if a rocket had hit the front door, and the people in front of me were killed. I was in the back seat, narrowly escaped, took advantage of the chaos to escape, and then hid in the rubble, and somehow the ground collapsed and landed here. Hikaru Yoshida said in trepidation.
