Chapter 7: The Assassination of the Lion of Nemia

It was another hot morning, and Hera was walking through the city. She stopped to buy breakfast, and learned from others that the Nimian army had not attempted to attack since that night, and that many were grateful to her father for the victory, believing that he had brought about the victory, even though people did not know him in person or his character.

When Hera arrived at Shimin's hut, she found Shimin sitting outside, waiting. As she approached, he looked up at the sun and said, "You're late, the morning sun has risen." ”

"I need to rest."

"Don't worry, Nemia will give you plenty of time to rest, he'll put sweetness on you, and then nail you to the ground and let you be killed by the bear and the lion," he mocked, "but before that he has to treat you to his ......"

"Enough!" Hera roared.

"Enough?" Shi Min turned around, "You think Nimia ......"

"Enough!" Hera shouted again, "Do you think I don't know what Nemi will do? Do you think I haven't heard of those? Do you think those are important to me? ”

"So what's important?"

Hera squinted, her anger and disgust, "Don't taunt me, old fellow. ”

"I'm not mocking you." Shi Min got up and staggered over to her, "What's important?" ”

Hera took a step towards him, and then she smelled a fishy smell, "Honor to my father." ”

"What else?"

"And?" Hera was a little puzzled, "But that's all I care about now." ”

Shi Min shook his head, "That's where you went wrong, when you let go of the thirst for revenge in your heart, then you will be ready." ”

"It's not up to you to decide." Hera said.

"Oh, but you're wrong, that's all I can decide." "Your father, like you, put his personal honor and disgrace above his sanity, and he lost his life for this," he continued, "I told him the night before I went to the city to fight that it was not the place he was supposed to go, but he went anyway and looked at what was happening!" The impact of his death was insignificant. ”

Alice felt Hera's anger explode and she lunged at the old man, but before she could attack, his cane struck the side of her head, knocking her to the ground. She tasted the dust, and her brain was dizzy.

"You're more impulsive than he used to be." Shi Min said, barely moving, "Your training has just begun, and before that, you have to learn to be in control." ”

Hera squinted, shook her head, and stroked the wound, where a bag had already risen, but no matter how much it hurt, she also knew that Shimin was wrong, "His death was not in vain!" Hera said, almost out of breath.

"I think that's true. He may have won the war, everyone said, but he could have won the whole war. ”

Hera didn't want to stay any longer, listening to others belittle her father, especially since he was the one she once believed in. She struggled to get up, her head still dizzy, and Alice in her own body feeling dizzy.

For the environment of her birth, Hera always felt that glory was paramount, because of honor, she felt that revenge was more important than anything else, and only revenge could truly inherit her father's mantle.

Shi Min couldn't stop her, and realizing that she didn't need his permission at all, she was ready to turn away.

"Think about what I'm talking to you." Shi Min said.

Hera ignored him.

"Tomorrow at sunrise!" Shi Min shouted, "Don't be late! ”

But she never wanted to come back.

That night, when the besieged city was tossing and turning, Hera put on the black scale armor that her father had made for her, took out her masked cloak, put an iron bracer in her hand, and put her father's bracer on the other, and then she waited for it to get dark.

When night had fallen, and it was not yet time, Hera took a nap, and before dawn she straddled her horn bow and took her father's sword and lantern. Open the secret passage of the room and sneak into the tunnel leading to the outside of the city. Inside the tunnel, the bats are only chasing their prey, not caring about them.

A stone staircase leads down from the entrance, and Hera descends it.

The sides are very steep, and there is a stream flowing below, so the sound of water can be heard in the cave. Plunged into complete darkness, Hera lit a lantern that reflected the dark shadows of the rocks and insects scattered around her. She smelled the smell of earth, it was very humid and the air was slightly cool.

This cave has always been off-limits to all children who grow here, including her, and I heard that a giant python lives in it. On the way down, Hera did not see the python, and eventually the stone steps became flat. This natural path had long been widened, and there were many secret passages that allowed soldiers and messengers to enter and exit the city secretly, and Hera's family was just one of them.

Hera walked down the steps, and when she reached the stone with the word warning engraved on it, indicating that she was approaching the exit, she extinguished the lantern and crept down the next path. Her boots touched the current, causing ripples slightly.

The stream falls into a ditch in front of it and flows in the other direction so that the hole is not exposed. She groped her hands together for the smooth stone wall until a silvery moonlight appeared in front of her.

The moonlight was faint, only a little brighter than the pitch-black cavern, where she stopped.

It was from here that her mission really began. She hadn't really left the city where her house was yet, but it was almost there. She looked down at her father's bracers, then strode forward.

When she came out, she smelled the ashes of the flames and heard the sound of the forest coming alive. The entrance to the cave was barely visible under the shadow of the rocks, and she was really worried that she wouldn't find it when she returned.

If she can come back.

Of course she would have liked so, but it was not part of the mission.

Mosquitoes, hot, humid, and even more unbearable in the canyon, are enough to prove the resilience of the Nimian army. Hera walked through the charred trees of the last battle, the work of the Nemian army, who had turned the place into a scorched earth.

Hera headed southeast, hiding in the shadows and scurrying through the forest.

Hera could hear Shimin's cane tapping on the city above her, but she shook the thought away and focused on the covert operation to Camp Nimia.

Hera quickly walked miles to the nearest Nemian tent, outside which soldiers patrolled, but it was easier for them to avoid than to kill them, and she wouldn't do her any good by risking the entire camp sounding the alarm.

She stopped, listened, observed, and then she realized that the gang was patrolling a fixed and regular line, which meant that she only needed to be patient enough to get through this sentry.

The tents are all in the same style, with felt leather covering the wooden frame. Horses were everywhere, and Hera had heard that the Nemian army loved their herds very much, but she suspected that the horses did not like their masters taking them to such a hot place infested with mosquitoes.

The scale of this tent is really memorable, and even Alice in her bones sighed that these tents are very magnificent. Thousands of trees had been cut down to build thousands of tents, and Hera glanced at them, believing that she would only need to find the most luxurious of them, and she soon found them.

There is a gate there, guarded by two guards, they guard one of the entrances, and on the other side is a rather large lion, that is, Nemea's big pet lion, it is said that this lion's fur is invulnerable, of course, now Hera is sure, because this lion has few scars, the only scar is given by her father's spear, although I don't know what the name of the gun is, but Hera knows very well that it is a rare holy weapon, but in that battle, the gun was broken.

So Hera's father used the broken head of the spear and entrusted the best weaponsmiths with a lot of money to forge the new sword on Hera's waist.

According to her father's diary, Hera had a wound on the right side of the lion's abdomen, which was done by his father, who had been researching the killing of the Nimian lion for several years, and finally his father made a bold assumption to use the venom of the Hydra against the big cat, for which his father took the risk of cutting off one of the heads of the Hydra and obtained a small jar of venom.

Hera couldn't think of any way to get in, and the only way was to kill them.

In the shadows, Hera took out three arrows, one of which was soaked in the small jar of poison, and the other two were aimed at the two guards on one side, "whooshing" through the air, and the two fell to the ground almost silently at the same time, but who knew that the big cat was alarmed, was it the smell of blood? The big cat took a look at her position, wouldn't it, the brute had found herself?

When Hera reflected again, the big cat appeared under the tree she was on, and then "slammed" into the tree, and Hera did not stand still and fell from the tree.

This is not good, in a hurry, Hera remembered that Shi Min taught her archery when she was a child, she flipped her body in the air, opened her bow and aimed it, and then quickly found the scar on the big cat's abdomen, and released the poisoned arrow.

The poisoned arrow pierced its wound, and the big cat fell to the ground.

Hera slammed her slam to the ground, the pain was no less than Shi Min's slap on her head, and the pain told Hera that Shi Min was right, and she was not calm.

Hera stood up, she quickly pulled out the saber tied to her ankle, and slashed at the big cat's body a few times, sure enough, the ordinary blade could not hurt its hair at all, which gave Hera a a little headache, time must not be left, in case Nemia woke up, her plan would be revealed.

At that moment, Hera thought that her father's spear could pierce the cat's fur, and although the spear was broken, her father had forged another weapon, which was her father's sword.

Hera didn't have much time to hesitate, she pulled out the saber at her waist, stabbed it into the wound in its chest, and then cut it outward, but she didn't expect it to be cut.

After a few minutes, she stripped the lion of its fur and tied it around her waist.

Hera turned and slipped to the other end, jumping over the bodies of the two guards, and she rushed into the tent and hid to the side. Lanterns hung from a thick wooden frame above her head, incense burned inside the tent, and the smoke was hazy, and the high tent roof was indistinct.

Silk and tapestries hang from the walls, and tall wooden screens inlaid with intricately carved gems and precious metals, like a wall, divide the tent into two parts: the hall and the inner chamber.

Although it only took three minutes to peel the skin, she still had to be fast, and Hera had only a short time to assassinate Nimia before the corpses of the guards outside were found. She hastened to the foot of a large wooden pillar, and climbed up the pillar like a tree, and when she reached the rafters she had chosen a vantage point, probably the highest point in the whole tent, so that she could overlook the inner chamber below.

Soon, from there she could find traces of Nimia.

It wasn't difficult, and she quickly identified his dining room, his throne, and his bedroom. The tent was full of guards, but she could hide on it, and the wooden beams were wide enough for her to crawl on and stay hidden.

When Hera reached the top of Nemia, she stopped and observed her prey from above. Nemia was covered in animal skins, he was tall and strong, and the room was filled with a strong smell of wine, and it seemed that they were still celebrating. Hera bit her lip as she how many lives had died at his hands, including his own father.

Just then, there was a commotion outside the tent, followed by the sound of an alarm.

Hera's eyes widened, she had to hurry, right now!

Hera lifted her father's sword, jumped off the wooden beam, and jumped directly onto Nemia's bed, Nemia woke up, but it was too late, Hera raised her father's sword and pierced the armor around Nimea's neck and into his throat. Nemia's eyes were wide open in an instant, and his mouth was wide open, but he didn't make a sound.

Hera's sword was also coated with the poison of the hydra, and she looked directly at Nemia who was dying and foaming at the mouth with blood until his strength waned with the bleeding, until his body lost its soul and became a corpse.

When Nemia died, Hera pulled the knife from his waist and fled from his bed to climb up to the rafters again.

But Hera must now flee, and she must act quickly, for once Nemia's body is found, there will be no place in the tent.

The commotion outside became louder, and many of the guards in the tent ran to the entrance or to Nemea's bedroom, and Hera fled in the opposite direction.

Hera jumped as close to the exit as she could, and crept to the mouth of the tent, where she clung to the curtain, and she heard two guards outside, and without hesitation, she swooped down and brought them down, one beheaded by the blade, and the other slashed with Nemea's short knife from behind.

This time, the guards at the gate saw it all.

They cried out and pointed at Hera. Then she heard the sound of the sword unsheathed, and she knew that the arrow would come in the next second.

Hera began to turn and run away, hiding in tents on the side, sometimes crawling over the tops, sometimes jumping out of the curtains.

The guards of Nimia gave hot pursuit, which woke up the entire camp.

In Hera's mind, Alice was worried about her, silently begging her to run faster, as in Shimin's training, her only chance of escape was in the forest.

The forest was a few hundred yards away, and running through this huge camp seemed impossible, and Alice forcibly intervened in Hera's consciousness, using her powerful intuition, she sensed the route and sped away.

Although Hera was in control, Alice could still sense that Hera's heart was more than fearful.

She was smiling at every step she ran, and with every breath she exhaled, she laughed inwardly.

At this moment, Hera has avenged the murder of her father, and her father can turn a blind eye, and his sword is used where it should be used.

Even if Nimea's men had caught her, she had succeeded.
