Chapter 11 "The Abyss Collection" Part 1
"How can there be ice!?"
The distorted object slid past the side of the ship with a "whoosh" and fell towards the sea: "Ha! yes, stupid human, have you forgotten my tentacles!?"
"Bang!"
Salian Quarksol slammed into the water, but several of its tentacles hurried out and grabbed at the guardrails on either side.
"Got it!"
"It's the touch of my tentacles grabbing the guardrail on the side of the boat!" I didn't have time to see it, but I was sure that I caught it, like a cat loves cardboard boxes!"
Salian Quarksol slammed into the sea, while the two tentacles curled up with vipers and reptiles clung to the guardrails farther away, and strained themselves while saying strange metaphors: "Wait for me, human, I'll come up and eat you!" β
"Your next sentence is: This kind of trick, this kind of trick is meaningless in the face of ultimate power!" As soon as he finished speaking, Griffith raised his hand, and an icy condensed throwing spear came out of his hand.
"This kind of ruse, this kind of ruse is meaningless in the face of ultimate power!" shouted Quarkthall.
Hey, how did he know?
Salian Quarksol caught a glimpse of Griffith throwing an ice spear diagonally above him, stabbing him straight into the head.
A thought flashed through its rotten brainβdanger, but as long as I unleashed the Shield of Destruction, it would be fine.
Griffith's ice spear flew in a very short flight in front of Salian Quarksol's head, which was about to emerge from the water, and the scorching light flashed.
Also at the same time, an earth-shattering explosion occurred.
The extreme heat caused the instantaneous vaporization of seawater, resulting in a huge blast energy released directly around Salian Quarksol.
"Boom!"
The explosion kicked up a dozen meters of seawater and threw it into the sky mixed with the tentacle monsters that had exploded into pieces. The heavy seven-masted galleon was also pushed to the other side by the shock wave.
Hanging high on the side of the ship, Griffith was nearly knocked overboard by a huge shock wave, and was doused in the face by the hot sea water that fell from the sky.
He hung on the side of the ship, and sighed as he looked at the pieces of minced meat that covered the sea below:
"Water vapor explosion, please find out. β
......
The breath of the insect aberrations dissipated in the tumbling waters. The sea turned from boiling to calm. Numerous small or slender pieces of flesh were scattered across the sea, and when Griffith looked at it with the Insight Crystal, he could see dense lines of green, red, and black.
"Hurry down!" Minos's will suddenly appeared, "Quick!"
Griffith hurriedly jumped into the sea, immediately sensing that some essentia nearby was being absorbed by Minos. The carcasses of flesh that covered the surface of the sea rose and fell through the waves, and soon sank to the bottom of the sea.
The wreckage of Salian Quarksol was swallowed by the sea in the blink of an eye. His intrigues, secrets, and the money and magical items he had with him also sank to the bottom of the murky sea.
Unfortunately, only some essentia was collected. The extraordinary traits are gone, and there should be a lot of good things in Salian Quarksol, but they are gone. His money and property are estimated to be officially seized, and a few of the gold coins may become my bounty~ Griffith regretfully thought about the loot that sank to the bottom of the sea.
But that's what he expected. Once the power of the runes has been used in battle, Griffith cannot leave witnesses behind. Galadia and Sonia are in a special situation, leaving aside the fact that others need to hide as much as possible that they can use spells.
If you really can't hide it, you can explain it by having a seal or holy artifact in your possession. However, in case it is still difficult to explain in official detail, it is still possible that the investigation will detect his bone ring.
In the library of Holmonwards, there is no way to find the mechanism and record of the operation of the runes provided by Minos, which means that the rune energy is highly classified, if not forbidden knowledge.
Even more troubling was that if Griffith was to be closely investigated and questioned as a result, he was not sure that he would be able to hide the fact that he had been contaminated by the extraordinary properties of the Corrupted Bloodline. If things get to this point, Griffith will have no choice but to run away if he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life as an experiment, become a bounty hunter on a far-flung frontier, or open a bar there for the rest of his life.
Griffith shook his head at once, banished the ominous thought, swam back to the side of the boat, grabbed the rope net hanging from the side of the ship, climbed up, pulled out the nails and pieces of wood that had been pierced into the flesh, and gasped for breath.
"Griffith!" Amber, who had broken free from his state of fear, ran over and held the tattered midshipman, "Did you kill it? I can't feel the breath of Salian Quarksol, how did you do it." β
"Oh, it's just luck," the midshipman gasped slowly, quietly watching the girl's reaction, "it stumbled and fell into the sea, detonating its own magic. β
A violent and brief battle between Griffith and the Zermin mutants tore apart several of the Equinox's cabins and a large swath of deck. However, within a few minutes of the start of the battle, Quarksol fell into the sea and exploded. In the midst of this brief chaos, Amber, the crew, and the passengers, who were in a state of confusion and fear outside the heavy cabin barriers, could not have noticed Griffith's secrecy.
"I'm really ...... It's so useless," Amber bit her lip with a face full of self-reproach, "I would be ...... by that kind of thing"
"It's nothing, it's common for different attributes to suppress each other, and that's why we have to act as a team, did you see the exquisite battle I just had?"
When he was knocked flying, Griffith was wounded on the forehead and was bleeding all over his face. He narrowed his blood-soaked eyes slightly, paying attention to Amber's expression, and asked quietly.
"It's not now that you're going to be handsome," Amber shook his head helplessly, and looked at the wounds all over Knight Xi's body with concern, "I'll take you to bandage it first." I'll have a drink!"
Well, that's good. Griffith didn't see a hint of concern or self-reproach on Amber's face, and he was slightly relieved.
......
The ship's doctor skilfully cleaned Griffith's wounds, pulled out the broken pieces of wood and iron, and sanitized them carefully.
"I suggest that you go ashore and do another heal to prevent infection, though I don't think it will be necessary with your ability to heal yourself," said the ship's doctor, washing his hands, "and I'll prescribe you another medicine once a day for three days." If there are signs of infection, it is important to seek medical attention promptly. β
"Thank you, doctor. Griffith turned to look at himself in the mirror. The wounds all over the body have been closed. In the absence of functional trauma and misalignment of bones, the healing power of the Strength Extraordinary is able to repair injuries and prevent infections and many diseases. Not to mention that Griffith also has a strong ability to heal himself.
"No, thank you, young man!" said the ship's doctor, cheerfully, "I have served at sea all my life, and I have seen war and pirates, but this is the first time I have seen a monster so close in front of me today. It's like a dream, how did we meet it? You didn't expect it. β
That's not it, that's what I'm here for, but I didn't expect the mission to be so much more dangerous than expected, it's definitely more than D-class!" Griffith muttered to himself, shrugging helplessly at the doctor.
"Alright, I'm going to treat the next patient," the doctor handed Griffith's coat over, "have fun." β
Griffith walked out of the exam room while putting on his coat.
"Yo! alright?" Amber stood by the hatch, looking at Griffith, who was not yet dressed, and curled the corners of her mouth, "Good line!"
"Is there any good news or bad news?" said Griffith, slowly buttoning his button.
"There is no serious damage to the hull, we will arrive on Neopolis Island as planned," Amber smiled as he watched Griffith button up his shirt, his gaze moving up from his strong abs to his broad chest and three-dimensional shoulder blades, "When the sailors were cleaning up the wreckage, they found that the Abyss Collection was floating on the surface of the sea, can you buckle it a little slower?"
......
"The Abyss Collection" lies quietly on the table in the captain's room.
According to salvaged sailors, the scroll was wrapped in a layer of dim light, floating on the surface of the sea full of debris as if waiting for someone. The pages were not stained.
This is the seal that Quarksol has plotted on this voyage. In order to fight for the scroll, the wealthy merchants of the West Coast turned themselves into monsters, killing several passengers and sailors.
Judging by Quarksol's ability to devour the crew and the curling vipers on his hands, he was already an aberrant before he got this copy of The Abyss from Councillor Milovan Neville. However, when engaged with Griffith, Quarksol's appearance showed obvious decomposing, swollen features, like a corpse.
Aberrations and necrosis are two very different states, most likely due to different causes.
That is to say-
Perhaps through this scroll, the wielder will be able to wield a powerful flame magic shield that can blow them up, or they may turn themselves into corpse-like monsters.
After realizing this, Griffith's eyes were a little afraid when he threw himself into the "Abyss Collection".
At this time, Mr. Anger, the captain of the Spring Equinox, actually reached out and touched the cover of the ancient scroll: "This thing is invulnerable, it's amazing!"
"Be careful!"
"Don't!"
Griffith jumped with Amber.
"What's wrong?" Captain Anger looked at the two of them quizzically, "don't be nervous, nothing happened when the boys picked up the scroll. β
"Don't be careless, Mr. Captain," Amber shook her head, "the threat of the seal is not limited to the naked eye. I suggest that you and the crew who come into contact with this scroll do a dark magic test upon arrival at the port. β
It's not a suggestion, it's a mandatory...... Griffith mentally made a note for the captain that he would notify the Defence Against the Dark Arts to take action when he arrived.
"We need to physically isolate it first," Griffith added, "Mr. Captain, please find a sturdy crate, and we're going to lock it up, and Amber and I will take turns guarding it until we arrive at Neopolis Island and have the mage stationed there take over." β
"Alright, alright!" Captain Anger found an empty box and locked the scroll inside.
