Porco Rosso
Hayao Miyazaki once explained that "Porco Rosso" is actually an animation for adults, and the theme in it is not his usual opinion, it is a work that "should not be done".
I don't know enough about the movie behind the scenes.
The main character in Marco Pagot is an ace pilot of the Italian Air Force in World War I, who had planned to marry Gina, but after the outbreak of the war, as a pilot, he could not marry his enemy country (Gina's Austria). He struggled between Gina and his own country, and then chose his own country without hesitation. It was only later, when he witnessed the death of his comrades, including Gina's husband, that he always recalled the empty clouds, and he began to reflect on what was the constant sacrifice for the sake of the country and flight? These doubts hovered in his mind, and after seeing the rise of fascism, he resolutely left the air force, hoping that the future flight would be completed by his own will.
Feeling hopeless about humanity, he cursed himself as a pig and vowed, "I'd rather be a pig myself than force myself to be a fascist." And changed his name to Porco Rosso.
So in the film with a slightly comedy image, we see a cool pig's head, middle-aged, rude and lazy, and a little dull, but he is an elegant male supremacist Poluk at heart. In my opinion, this just makes us not deeply feel the tragedy of a hero coming to an end.
I was impressed by the pirates, who lived by robbing hostages and collecting ransoms, and coveted Fio's beauty, but their nature was not bad, their personalities were very distinct, innocent and unpretentious, and they loved honor.
Compared to Gus, who is an enemy of Poluk everywhere, competing for women and fame and fortune, the pirates are simply too cute. And to our surprise, in the end, Gus and Poluk became friends with each other. As the saying goes, there are no real bad guys, and there are no real enemies, everything can be converted.
There are very few films that can stand from the perspective of children, and I have to say that the two heroines, Fio and Gina.
As far as I can talk about Poluk's emotions alone, Gina is a past he can never go back to, although he knows that Gina still loves him, although he will still visit her from time to time, but the relationship will not be sublimated if it stays as a friend.
A middle-aged man and his childhood sweetheart once loved each other and can be together now, this relationship is like a spring breeze, and it can't blow the same wind when it blows.
And the young and energetic aircraft designer Fio is also the one who can't be a partner, she designed the plane he liked for Poluk, flew with him to escape from the pursuit of the military, did what Gina couldn't do, and used her positive and optimistic personality to save Poluk from the negative loneliness. also boldly expressed his admiration and dedicated his first kiss to Poluk.
It's just that Poluk can't accept it calmly if she wants to, Fio is still too young, she has been polished by the years to become unadult, such a self is not even satisfied with herself, how can she fall in love with a little girl?
What I see is not everything, so I can't help but feel that although the end does not seem to end, but is left to ourselves to fill up slowly, I don't want to deliberately think about so-and-so, and it is not a bad thing that everything will develop naturally.
