Chapter 28: The Diary I
"Brother Captain, the diary I found earlier has been translated, do you want to see it?" Atlas brought up another matter. Pen, fun, and www.biquge.info
"Is it already translated?" Zhou Xin thought for a while, and found that the affairs related to the fleet seemed to have been arranged, so he nodded and said, "Then let's see what is said in that diary first." β
"Okay." The little girl nodded, and then introduced, "Actually, most of the diary is about daily trivial matters, nothing worth noting, but." Atlas said, "After excluding these useless contents, there are a few diary entries that are really worth telling. As he spoke, the diary appeared on the screen. Zhou Xin saw that what appeared on the screen was an ordinary diary, the material of the book looked like ordinary paper, its size was about the same as the notepad that Zhou Xin usually used, the cover was pale yellow, there was not a word on it, only the pattern of the diary cover itself, it looked like an ordinary notebook.
At this time, a robotic arm stretched out from outside the screen, looking at the strange shape of the robotic arm, Zhou Xin recognized it at a glance, this was the arm of the robot controlled by Atlas. The arm opened the first page of the journal, and on the title page of the journal, a few obvious words appeared in the center, but there was nothing else on the page.
"These words seem to be the name of the owner of this diary." Atlas explained, "According to the transliteration, his name seems to be 'Candela Sin'"
"Candela-Sinβ? Zhou Xin repeated, and then he asked, "So what did this Candela, uh--or 'Sin', say in his diary?" β
The mechanical arm moved again, it flipped a few pages on the diary, and in the process of flipping, Zhou Xin saw that the pages that had been turned over were written with words that he couldn't understand, and the words on each page were more or less, the less was only one line, and the more were even full of the whole page, but Atlas did not stop on these pages. After about ten pages, Atlas's movements finally stopped, and on the page where he stopped, Zhou Xin saw an alien text about half a sheet of paper, and he didn't ask, but waited for Atlas to explain what was written on it.
The screen lingers on the paper for a moment, and Atlas speaks, "This page describes the diary's owner who appears to be working on a project called 'Dawn', and his opinion on the project. β
"Dawn?" Zhou Xin asked with a puzzled expression, "What kind of project is this?" β
"Translated as 'Dawn', people who don't find clues about what this project is doing in the diary, but judging from the attitude of mentioning the 'Dawn' project every time the diary mentions, this project should be very important." After a pause, Atlas said to Zhou Xin, "Oops, it's too much trouble to ask and answer like this." Brother Captain, if you don't have to put the translated text on the screen, you can ask questions when you've read them all. β
"It's fine." Zhou Xin nodded, "Then you can release the translated diary contents." β
As soon as Zhou Xin finished saying this, a very familiar text appeared next to the diary on the screen, which was what Atlas had translated.
What follows is what is written in the diary.
May 18, 378 in the war calendar:
"The 'Dawn' project has finally started, my dream is finally coming true, and that thing is exactly what we need, and according to my estimate, if we can work on it, then we won't have to stay on this damn planet and continue to entangle with that group of red-skinned monkeys. I've heard they're already working on a similar project, and we can't afford to be left behind by them, and we have to work on that thing before they do, and it would be bad if the monkeys got a head start. However, although I have a theoretical study of that thing, where do I start in practice? It just so happens that the large equipment has not yet been installed, so let's take this opportunity to discuss it with the rest of the project team. β
May 19, 378 in the war calendar:
"After a whole day of discussions, the rest of the project team still couldn't discuss a feasible way to get started, what a bunch of idiots. I knew I wouldn't have picked so many people to work with me on this project, it would be a complete drag. Forget it, since I came up with the theory, then I'll solve the problem. β
May 23:
"I knew that I had to rely on myself, this method should be theoretically feasible, and now that the equipment has been set up, let's try it first."
May 28:
"How is it possible, it actually failed! That thing wasn't made, so I think this should be possible. Damn, what went wrong? β
May 29:
"It's strange, I've calculated it repeatedly, and there shouldn't be a problem with this method, since there is no problem with my calculation, then the problem must be in the actual operation stage. Damn, I can't trust anyone else, and if I hadn't been able to complete this project alone, I'd have kicked them all out. β
June 5:
"How is it possible, it still doesn't work! They've done what I've asked me step by step, is it really because there's something wrong with the method I'm using? It can't be, it looks like it's time to check out our lab equipment. β
June 12:
"Whew, there are so many devices, and finally the inspection is finished, I didn't expect there to be a reptile in the analysis counter, how did this kind of thing get in, fortunately, it was found early, and if the experiment is done a few more times, the equipment will be dangerous. Now that the problem has been solved, the experiment should be successful if I follow my method. β
June 17:
"It's strange, the various data in the experiment are close to the theoretical value, why is it still not successful? Where the hell did that thing go? What the hell went wrong again. β
June 20:
"What's the problem? What's the problem?! Could it be that an accident occurred during the experiment that caused the failure? No, I'm going to do another experiment to test my idea. β
June 25:
"The data of the experiment is still the same as last time, and it seems that I need to re-check the experimental method to see what is wrong."
June 30:
"After so many days of checking, I still don't think there's a problem with my method. Hell, why can't such a perfect method achieve the desired effect in practice? β
July 15:
"The experiment has been suspended for a long time, and I am in a very bad mood, and I can't check which step in the process of the experiment went wrong. After all this time of experimentation and no progress, I started to get a little worried, and the people above seemed to want to cancel the project for this reason. It's going to be a life-changing project for us, and I won't let that happen. β
July 24:
"Finally, I found the problem, it was actually a problem with the container containing the material, which caused the material to be contaminated during transportation in just a few steps, although the contamination was not very serious, but it seriously affected the experimental results, and a large amount of that thing was absorbed by the contaminant. Luckily, I was informed yesterday that if the experiment didn't make the slightest progress within 10 days, they would be aborting the project. Fortunately, there is still enough time left for us to conduct an experiment, and whether or not this project can continue depends on the success or failure of this project. β
July 29:
"Finally, it succeeded, and the instrument finally detected the existence of that substance in the experimental equipment, although the content of that substance is very small now, only just reaching the lower limit of the substance that the instrument can detect, but this at least means that my idea is correct. Now the project will finally not be canceled, all that remains is to improve the process and get more of that substance. β
August 27:
"After a lot of experimentation, we finally optimized the production process of that substance, and other people came up with a lot of useful ideas in the process, which helped me a lot, and my opinion of them began to change, especially Morris and McVis, whose whimsical ideas inspired me a lot. In a recent experiment, we obtained more than ten times as much of the substance we had for the first time. However, although the number has increased so much, the amount of the substance actually produced is still extremely small, far from the amount used in the next experiment, and we have to continue to work hard. β
October 11:
"Although the amount of that substance is still far from enough to support the consumption of the next experiment, the substance we have collected from the first success of the experiment to the present is enough for the next experiment, and I can't wait to analyze that substance."
October 21:
"Violent explosion!! It was my negligence to not think that the properties of that substance were so sensitive that just moving it from the restraint to the lab would cause such a catastrophe. But fortunately, Morris reminded that there were no natural people involved in the process of manipulating that substance, and we only lost a well-equipped test base and a small amount of manipulating equipment, but these losses were acceptable. On top of that, we've lost all the kind of stuff we've collected before, and at the current pace of production, it's going to take at least a month to collect enough stuff for the next experiment. It seems that I will only be able to continue to improve the process of producing that substance for a month. By the way, I still have to think about how to improve the experimental process in a month's time, but I can't have another accident like this, or the people above will kill me. β
20 November:
"Finally, we've collected the substance again, and tomorrow the experiment can finally start again, having learned the lessons of last time, this time I've decided to put the experiment in a restraint device. But even so, judging from the last experiment, this experiment is still very dangerous, and this time you can't just rely on the operating device, originally I wanted to do it myself, but I was forcibly stopped by others, and in the end it was McVis who took over the burden, and he will be in charge of the experiment in the laboratory tomorrow. In order to get him out of the laboratory alive, I have been emphasizing every detail of the experimental process to him during the day today, for fear that any tiny step will go wrong and lead to a serious accident. Just now, McVis and Morris have been simulating what they will do tomorrow in the laboratory, but I am still very worried, I hope that McVis will not make any mistakes because he is too nervous tomorrow, and the experiment must be successful. β
21 November:
"Although there was a little accident in the course of the experiment, fortunately, it was a false alarm, and in the end the experiment was successfully completed, and in this experiment we obtained a lot of information about the properties of that substance, but because the weight of that substance is still too small, we cannot complete a more in-depth analysis, but this is enough. The information we have obtained today will be of great help to us in our future experiments. And this credit belongs to all those who participated in today's experiment regardless of the danger, and I will definitely let them be commended by the above. β
23 November:
"I didn't expect the speed of the people coming up there this time to be quite fast, I made a request yesterday and they came today, but they didn't seem to come to commend all the experimenters, after they came, they kept asking about the experiment the day before yesterday, especially the nature of the substance. When did the people above start to care about this kind of thing, didn't they just need to know if the experiment was successful? β
November 24:
"I didn't expect that something good would happen to the people from above as soon as they returned, and the above actually decided to install four more sets of equipment for the production of that substance, so that the progress of our experiment could be greatly accelerated. I'm glad about that, but why should the above send someone down to join us in the experiment, is this a distrust of us? The man sent was also very secretive, and spent the rest of his day in his room hiding in his room, not knowing what he was doing, except for observing the experimental device and taking a detailed analysis report of the substance. Anyway, this kind of thing is not my concern, and I might as well prepare for the next experiment if I have the spare time to worry about it. It will take a long time to produce and install those equipment, and before the next experiment, these equipment should not be counted on, and the next experiment is estimated to be a month later. β
December 23:
"We've finally collected enough of that substance again, and I'm going to do a second experiment the day after tomorrow, and it's coming up soon as the new year, and hopefully our experiment will be successful, so we can have a good year too......"
