Chapter 37: The Polar Blizzard (3)

Chen Ying opened her eyes and saw a faint light between the curtains, the sky was still black, but she could see a few shining stars. She noticed another quilt over her coat. Wang Yi was wearing a down jacket with his hands folded in front of his chest. His bag lay crooked on the floor in the corner of the bed. Chen Ying walked over and picked up the schoolbag, it seemed that it was it that woke him up from his dream just now. She walked over lightly and hung the strap of her bag on the post of the bed. Wang Yi was still snoring sweetly on the bed next to him. She walked over to the head of the bed and got a closer look at him sleeping. In Germany he was always the first to get up, and by the time she opened her eyes, he had been busy in the kitchen for half a day. One day he was dangling hot coffee under her nose until he woke her up. It wasn't until today that she had a chance to notice him sleeping soundly with his glasses off, the tip of his nose slightly upturned and his brow slightly furrowed.

She had observed Qin Hong's sleeping appearance before, it was a kind of unrestrained sleeping position, and she liked to open her arms to occupy as much of the bed as possible. Sometimes she was forced to huddle in a corner, or simply move somewhere else. Qin Hong would occasionally talk in her dreams and mumble indistinctly for a while, she didn't hear it many times, but she never understood. Wang Yi slept very quietly, like a silkworm chrysalis waiting to be feathered, and his limbs were constricted. His head sank deep into the pillow and he didn't move.

The silence in the room is broken by the ringing of a cell phone reminding you to wake up. She took three steps and two and rushed over to close the setting that sounded again. Wang Yi rolled over and rubbed his eyes with his hands in a daze.

"What time is it?" He asked. The side of his forehead was rubbed by him with a red mark.

"A quarter past six." "You can sleep a little longer," she said. I don't think breakfast is ready yet. ”

"I don't sleep." He sat up from the bed and blinked vigorously, trying to figure out what was going on. He reached for his glasses from the bedside, hung them behind his ears and asked, "Did you sleep well?" ”

"Very good." She looked at him a little unbearably, "Frozen last night?" ”

"Okay." He paused and said, "I see you've been shivering and falling asleep with the quilt." It's too cold, isn't it? ”

She nodded. Wang Yi was still sleepy-eyed, and his hair was messily stuck to the back of his head. He stood up and walked into the bathroom with his shoes on, and after a while he walked out, still dripping from the roots of his hair behind his ears. He walked around the corner of her bed, trying not to step on the carpet pressed by the pillar at the foot of the bed. He rummaged through his phone, wallet, and passport in his bag, and put them in his pocket, along with his key card.

"It's clear." He said.

At breakfast, a couple sat at the next table. They were carrying a child who was less than a year old. After eating, the wife left, and the husband fed the baby while eating. He skillfully shook the bottle and gently burped the baby after feeding her. Before going out, he pushed the baby into the special toilet for changing diapers, and a few minutes later he walked to the elevator with the stroller with ease. Wang Yi watched all this intently, until the person and the stroller disappeared at the elevator entrance.

"The husband here is really dutiful." He said in admiration.

Chen Ying deliberately sat diagonally opposite him, pretending not to see all this. She carefully studied the timetables of each train and needed to make the international trains, subways and buses more tightly connected so as not to waste too much waiting time along the way. She also had a lecture to attend in a small town not far from Copenhagen, which the school had contacted last week to visit the most famous local beer company. She likes this kind of practical activities, and learning theoretical knowledge without being out of society can give her a deeper understanding of reality.

Wang Yi saw that she didn't answer, so he didn't say any more. After breakfast, they went back to their room to get their luggage, and then returned the same way they had been the same way they had been last night. The sun had not risen as if it had been a sleep, snow was everywhere, and the earth was like a cake covered with frosting.

They walked into the central railway station in the snow that had not reached their feet, and there were many people gathered here, some of whom Chen Ying felt familiar, probably sitting nearby when they were waiting for the train last night. Everyone lingered at the ticket window waiting to exchange tickets, the conductor had not yet gone to work, there was a long queue in front of the stall selling breakfast, and the coffee machine was constantly busy. Chen Ying returned to her seat last night and sat down, intently observing the end of the line. Wang Yi rested his head on the lever of the suitcase, struggling to keep himself from sleeping.

They waited like this, and after eight o'clock the ticket sales began at the window, and the tail of the long line was picked up again, almost extending outside the train station. Three small children frolicking in the neighborhood. They are playing a castle demolition game, where one person builds a castle with blocks, and the other two people try to pull out as many bricks as they can while keeping the castle from collapsing, and whoever has the most bricks in their hands when it collapses wins. They sat on the floor and played with bated breath, laughing and screaming happily as the castle fell, attracting many adults to stop and watch.

From Oslo to Gothenburg to Copenhagen, Wang Yi and Chen Ying can walk together. Once in Denmark he will change trains again and return to his final destination, Berlin. When he got into the car, he found two upside-down seats for them in a daze, sat down with his head resting on the back of the chair, and immediately fell asleep. She pushed his luggage up the overhead rack and quietly picked up the book and sat by the window. He slept with his hands crossed, occasionally pinching his nose as if to drive away an invisible bug. Winter near the Arctic is a long night, especially in the post-snowstorm period like this one.

Chen Ying knows that she can't see the aurora in Oslo because she hasn't reached the Arctic Circle yet, and she can't see the sun that never sets or the stars that can't rise, but she believes that waiting here can achieve the so-called reincarnation. There are too many unsolved mysteries about the limits of geological exploration here. She believes that at the end of this boundless darkness there is some mysterious power that can make destined people meet.
