Chapter 19: The Eve of Change 1
In the darkness of night, the six found a luxurious hotel. The group stayed without hesitation, and gold coins were not a problem anyway.
The dinner in the evening was also free of charge according to Marcellus's wishes. Finely deboned roast lamb, precious red wine of Song of Triumph, creamy seafood soup, and unknown ghee bread are eaten in vain, and there is no better deal to be found in the whole continent.
The perfect meal and comfortable mattress make everyone feel at ease, and life is really getting better and better. Krinus certainly didn't think much of it, and these things reminded him of Kanta's days. The days when I was muddled and disturbed by nightmares every day. Why did his parents disappear without warning, and what was the meaning of what he did after taking over the family.
When Krinus opened his eyes, he saw the ornate decorations, and he feared that he was back in Kanta, and that those adventures and encounters were just the product of daily thought. He looked up and saw that he was not familiar with the dΓ©cor and furnishings. Touching the wand under his pillow, he looked out the window at the city of Rant, which was very different from the Kanta Elves. Then I closed my eyes with peace of mind and decided to sleep for a while.
"We'll need to stay in New River Valley to get some things done, I'll need time to figure out how to use the Twin Crystals, and Augst needs a new armor. Krinus said to everyone, enjoying the morning sun.
"Really!" said Abel, leaning half of his body on the table, "Shall I go out and have some fun?" β
"Of course, I have informed the best local tour guides. Krinus said.
"Tour guide?" Abel pouted, "I don't need a tour guide, they will just tell you something obvious, and then cheat you out of your money." β
"Relax, the tour guide I'm looking for is not a businessman who sees money. "Mr. Duke is a former butler of a nobleman in New River Valley, and he knows the history of this place inside out. It doesn't hurt to know a little bit about history and humanity, and he probably knows who the best armorer here is. β
"I'll go with you, I think that Mr. Duke has a lot of useful information for me. You also know that I'm a writer and I need to write in a book that isn't a weird thing. Noah said, "Mr. Ebner is fine, so join us." β
When Noah said this, he actually wanted to give Krinus and Serena a little space, and he was always looking forward to something happening between the two of them, just like the vigorous relationship in all books. And he was smug at his well-founded excuse, and now all he needed was Ebner's answer.
"I'm afraid I don't enjoy sightseeing and playing much, I'd rather stay here and read a good book. Abner said unnoticed.
"Read a ......," Noah said embarrassedly, "when we get to Estile, my bookcase will surely make you never want to see a word in your life." Can you save your desire to read until then? Now come with us to appreciate the charm of the new river valley? Please......"
Everyone knew what Noah meant, and even the children could see what kind of routine this was playing.
Ogst said, "Come along, Ebner, are you relieved to let Abel go out alone?"
"I think Mr. Ogast will be optimistic about him. "The New Valley is not a place full of crime and criminals," said Abner, "and if this were Demorah, I would have followed Abel with trepidation." β
"Let's come along. Abel urged, "Shouldn't we act together as good friends?"
Krinus watched as these people persuaded Ebner, not knowing what to say. Noah's ghost idea was enough to bear, and now he is so blatantly asking Ebner to give himself a two-person world, which is simply the meaning of spreading the word "together" in the languages of various races all over the world. Krinus stole a glance at Serena, and sure enough, the corners of her mouth now had a chilling smile on her lips, and she was trembling with righteousness.
Serena slowly stood up and said, "No need to argue, Ebner stays to read his book." How far you go, how far you go. Got it?"
Noah smiled awkwardly, "But ......"
Tong!
Serena stuck her iron dagger on the table, still smiling, and said, "Do you not understand human language or what?" I said that Ebna stayed. β
Ebner watched all this with a daze, wondering why they were fighting so much for their own stay.
The scene of Serena sticking the dagger into the table was just seen by the waiter waiting at the door, and he knocked on the door without confidence and stammered, "I must remind you that this ...... This table is going to lose money......"
Serena turned her head and said with a fierce face, "Record the accounts of these gentlemen!"
The waiter almost fell to the ground without standing firmly, but fortunately he held on to the door frame, pinched a cold sweat and said, "One more thing, Mr. Crinos, the guide you are looking for is already waiting downstairs, and he can leave at any time now." β
"What are you waiting for?" said Selena, angrily, "it's time to hit the road." β
When Noah heard this, his back was soaked with sweat, and he hurriedly pulled Augst and Abel out.
Seeing the three men walk out of the door, the anger on Serena's face dissipated a little.
"Why do I want to make Serena so angry if I go sightseeing?" asked Kerinos quietly.
Krinus replied in a whispered laugh: "Just stay in the house, don't ask so many questions, or be careful to become like this table." β
Ebner didn't know if Krinos was joking, or if it was really like that, so it was good to be quiet to be on the safe side.
Krinus sighed and walked to the balcony of the room. Looking out the window, the mansions of the rich in the city, the castles of the lords are vivid. Fortunately, there are no hard-working people begging along the streets in the new river valley, and no matter how poor the huge grain warehouse is, it can solve everyone's food and clothing problem.
"Do you know how long it took Tours to capture New River Valley during the Civil War?" asked Krinos.
"I don't know, I don't care. Serena replied.
"What about you? β
"As far as I know," said Ebner, "one month. β
"That's right, a month. "The Tours army, which occupied the banks of the Silver River, poisoned the wells of the New River Valley, turning the water into bitter poisonous juice from which few people survived," Krinus said. Day and night they shouted to the inhabitants of the city, "Surrender and you will have clean water." The morale of the army is becoming more and more demoralized, the inhabitants are panicking, and before the famine occurs, there is a lot of blood left behind by a pot of clean water on the streets of the new river valley. Owen Romeo, the lord of New River Valley, knew that the city would not last long, especially in the midst of such turmoil. He ordered the defenders to leave the city and fight to the death against the Tours army......"
"And after that?" asked Ebner.
"After that...... The Tours army turned what would have turned into a long siege into a mere massacre. β
