Chapter 4: Masks

"Brother Ran, what do you mean by saying that there is a yellow rune paper on this door?" Lin Ran walked to the room with the door closed and put down the camera in his hand, just as he was about to go in, suddenly a voice sounded behind him.

The sudden voice frightened Lin Ran, Lin Ran looked back and saw that it was his roommate Fan Beixiao who was in the same dormitory of the police academy, Lin Ran really couldn't understand what his father thought, so he gave him such a name. If you can't be a hero, you have to be a hero, but now it's good, the hero didn't do it and came here to be a policeman.

"Maybe this family is more superstitious!" Lin Ran gave an ambiguous answer.

"I don't think so! Brother Ran, do you think it has anything to do with this villa? I've heard about the haunting of this villa! Fan Beixiao whispered in Lin Ran's ear, for fear of being heard by others.

"Go to the side, Comrade Fan Beixiao, you are now a member of the Communist Party!" Lin Ran glared at Fan Beixiao.

"Gotta get it, look at you, you're still doing it! Don't you don't believe that there are ghosts in this world? Then why don't you go in and have a look? What to hesitate about here! Fan Beixiao looked at Lin Ran with disdain, and the expression on his face seemed to be mocking Lin Ran for being a coward.

"Don't provoke me! I can't see that little bit of caution with your kid! Lin Ran glanced at Fan Beixiao and stuffed the camera into his arms.

Lin Ran walked to the front of the room and pushed the door, but found that it couldn't be opened, and Lin Ran twisted the doorknob a few times before finding that it was locked.

"Did you find the key when you collected evidence?" Lin Ran turned his head to look at Fan Beixiao and asked.

"Nope!" Fan Beixiao shook his head.

Lin Ran frowned, and the moment he turned his head, he suddenly remembered something and looked for it on the ground. Fan Beixiao looked at Lin Ran, who was a little nervous, and didn't understand what he was looking for, so he didn't care if he was looking for the key, so he took pictures around with the camera.

After looking for a long time, Lin Ran didn't find it, Lin Ran didn't look for the key to this room, he looked for the same runic paper as the other two doors, because he found that there was no yellow talisman on the door of this room, which surprised him.

"Brother Ran, Brother Ran, look here!" Fan Beixiao, who was holding the camera, suddenly took a picture of Lin Ran, who was looking for something.

"What are you doing? Don't shoot randomly! You have time to shoot more evidence! Lin Ran looked back at Fan Beixiao holding the camera lens and scolded him, he still had the leisure to mess around with such a big case.

"Aren't I filming evidence!" Fan retorted.

Lin Ran was not in the mood to mess around with him and turned around to ignore him, after looking for a long time Lin Ran didn't find anything, Lin Ran decided to break open the door and take a look to see what was in it.

Just as Lin Ran was about to slam the door open with his body, he didn't expect to see a shiny thing under the door, like a key. Lin Ran was overjoyed in his heart, and hurriedly took out the key from the crack under the door, inserted it on the doorknob, and found that it was opened.

Lin Ran pushed the door open, and a smell of burning incense came, and the whole room was pitch black and nothing could be seen. Could it be that this is a place to enshrine the remains of the deceased's family? Lin Ran guessed in his heart that he felt the switch of the light on the wall behind the door and turned it on.

Lin Ran looked at the layout of the house, but he didn't expect that this could really be a place to enshrine the remains of the deceased's family, and in the middle of the room hung several yellow flags hanging from the roof, with dense charms written on them. There were a few yellow talismans on the perimeter of the house wall, and there were a lot of talisman papers scattered on the ground, and there was a wooden sword on the ground.

Inside the room was a large altar with two thick white candles on either side of the altar and a bowl of incense burners piled with ashes in the middle. But what puzzled Lin Ran was that there were no portraits of the deceased's family members hanging on the wall, not even an urn.

"Brother Ran, why are there so many talismans in this house?" Fan Beixiao walked in with a camera and looked at the runic paper pasted on the walls around him with a puzzled expression.

"I don't know! It's strange to look at the furnishings of this house! Lin Ran shook his head, burning incense is to pay tribute to the dead family, but what is the purpose of sticking the talisman? Is it to prevent anyone from going out?

Lin Ran walked to the front of the offering table and found that there was nothing left on the offering table except for two candles and an incense burner bowl, not even the fruit used as a sacrifice, Lin Ran frowned and looked at the strange furnishings in the room. After thinking about it for a long time, Lin Ran didn't figure it out, he moved the table away, wanting to see if there was something under the table, because this table was not so much a table as a wooden box, a sealed wooden box.

Just as Lin Ran was moving the table, he suddenly heard an empty sound, which was the sound of the table colliding with the wall. Lin Ran thought of something, this wall was empty. Lin Ran knocked on the wall, and found that the top of the table, that is, the place where the statue should be placed, was nearly half a meter wide and high, and it was empty.

"There's something in there! Bei, go find me a hammer! Lin Ran said to Fan Beixiao, who took the photo.

"Hammers? What do you want a hammer for? Are you going to tear down the wall? Fan Beixiao looked at Lin Ran and didn't understand why he was using a hammer.

"Why do you ask so much! If you go, you'll go! Lin Ran glanced at Fan Beixiao impatiently.

"Oh, it's just you! If you don't look for it yourself, let me find it, lazy ghost! Fan Beixiao walked outside unhappily, muttering in his mouth,

Lin Ran ignored him, but knocked on the walls of the entire room, not finding anything empty. After a while, Fan Beixiao didn't know where to find a military iron pickaxe and came back.
