Chapter 9: Hell's Kitchen

Rorschach had advanced some of Tony's salary, but it wasn't much, and he couldn't buy a good place in a city like New York.

And the salary of S.H.I.E.L.D., hehehe, it will take two months to pay.

Advance? Inexistent.

Hell's Kitchen is located in New York's busiest part of Manhattan, but it's a ghetto-like place, a little out of place with Manhattan luxury, as conspicuous as a shadow in the sun.

"Sir, I can't go any further ahead, you get off here." The taxi driver wasn't discriminating against Rorschach as an Asian, but the tattooed men not far away scared him a little.

How is it impossible for someone who is begging for a living in the vicinity of Manhattan to know the famous place of Hell's Kitchen. A chaotic place that is almost useless except for cheap rent. Of course, if you have the ability to protect yourself, this is a good place. But I also have to endure it, and every few days I see a corpse lying on the side of the road, and I am afraid that I will be forced out of depression if I have poor psychological endurance.

Rorschach didn't embarrass the driver, paid for the car and stepped out of the taxi.

When the tattooed men saw a strange Asian appear, they all smiled maliciously. In this country, even in other more civilized places, Asian men are almost "bullies" of their own, not to mention that this is a chaotic, gang-infested slum.

Rorschach carried his suitcase, and he didn't have any fear of these gangsters, but he didn't want to cause too much trouble. After all, he was already very conspicuous when he followed Tony back from Afghanistan, and if he made some big trouble, he was afraid that he would attract the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is an existence that Rorschach doesn't want to provoke for the time being, at least he doesn't want to have too much contact until he has the ability to protect himself completely.

Fortunately, before the tattooed men could make any moves, a rather rich blonde young man made his way through the crowd to Rorschach's side.

"Hello, I'm Fergue, Fergie Nelson. You're Mr. Rorschach, aren't you? The good-looking fat man said to Rorschach with his right hand.

"Hello, Attorney Nelson." Rorschach shook his hand politely.

"You can call me Fergue." This young man's smile is very friendly, and his temperament is easy to gain people's trust.

"Fergue, I didn't think that renting a room would make the lawyer run for himself." Rorschach was rightly surprised.

In the United States, lawyers are almost as expensive as they are expensive. He just looked it up on the Internet and chose an apartment that he thought was suitable for him to rent.

I never thought that a lawyer would come to meet me and hire a lawyer to draw up a contract for a mere $500 a month? Even if the rent has been lost for several years.

In response to Rorschach's question, the fat lawyer explained: "The person renting out the apartment is an old man, and her English is not very good, and I am only doing a small favor. ”

"Free? This is not the style of a New York lawyer. Rorschach said with emotion.

"It's not completely free, she invited me to a private Brazilian meal." Fergue said with a smile.

"Fauvie, you're a good man." Rorschach praised.

"When I heard this, I remembered the first time I confessed to the girl." Fergue joked.

Rorschach had a crush on the humorous fat lawyer, and Fergue seemed to have a certain status in Hell's Kitchen, at least the tattooed men didn't bother Rorschach when they saw him.

Led by Fergue, Rorschach made his way to a somewhat dilapidated apartment, where he met Mrs. Cardinas, who was from Brazil and did not speak much English.

The apartment is a bit dilapidated on the outside, but it's pretty tidy inside. Mrs. Cardinas was also only a tenant, but she could not afford the expensive rent lately, so she planned to sublet the first floor with the basement.

Rorschach took a look, the place was quite tidy, and the privacy was good, and the basement was also very suitable for Rorschach's requirements.

"Nice place, let's make a contract." Rorschach said to Fergue.

Fergue immediately took out the contract from his briefcase, and Rorschach saw that there was no problem, and quickly signed his name, and paid three months' rent in advance.

Mrs. Cardinas thanked Fergus for her kindness and gratitude when the deal was completed.

Fergue was hugged hard by Mrs. Cardinas and made a helpless "I'm too popular" expression to Rorschach.

"By the way, Rorschach, we're having dinner at Mrs. Cardinas' house tonight, along with a colleague of mine. You're moving in, why don't you celebrate together? Fergue invited.

Rorschach didn't mind building relationships with her neighbors, and seeing Fergie mix like a fish in water in Hell's Kitchen meant that meeting such friends would take a lot of trouble into mind.

"That's great, I just came to the U.S. from Afghanistan and I don't even have many friends." Rorschach agreed.

"You're a soldier?" Fergue asked curiously.

"It used to be, but now it's a different career, and I'm working at Stark Industries." Rorschach introduced himself.

"That's not bad, it's a blessing to be able to come down from the battlefield alive." Fergue said sincerely.

The two talked a little more, and Rorschach made an excuse to tidy up the house, and Fergue and Mrs. Cardinas took their leave, very interestingly.

Closing the door, Rorschach carefully locked the deadbolt before walking inside the basement to open the suitcase he had received from Tony.

The pieces of palladium were encapsulated in a lead box, and Rorschach took out one piece and held it in his hand.

[Palladium elemental block, one of the nuclear raw materials, consumes 1000 ignition source energy and ten equal palladium blocks, which can make an energy activator.] 】

Such a hint appeared directly in Rorschach's mind, and he was slightly surprised.

You must know that any piece of palladium is enough to support the operation of the Ark reactor for a long time, but it takes ten pieces to make an energy activator, which is no longer a money burner, it is simply a bottomless pit.

But no matter how expensive it is, it is impossible for Rorschach to give it up.

There were a total of twelve pieces of palladium in this suitcase, and only one energy activator could be made, but Rorschach did not dislike it and immediately started to do it.

As the energy of the fire source continued to be consumed, the ten palladium element blocks that were caught by Rorschach in his hand all turned blue fluorescent, as if they had been decomposed into pure energy bodies in an instant.

These magnificent blue dots of light swirl and condense into a perfect hexagonal crystal that looks like the purest sapphire in the world, without any metallic components. And all the energy seems to be perfectly confined in this crystal, and no trace of radiant energy escapes.

Rorschach grasped the hexagonal crystal, which looked like a work of art, in his hand, and immediately got the corresponding hint.
