Chapter 82: Childhood Sweethearts (Middle)
"Female... Girlfriend? Mary felt that her voice was suddenly unfamiliar, and her usually energetic but soft voice seemed to come from a broken tape recorder, sharp and somewhat distorted. Pen | fun | pavilion www. ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ γ info "Peter, he has a girlfriend?" β
"Oh, I almost forgot!" Aunt May seemed to have something in mind. She tapped her head and answered Mary's question in a tone of sudden realization. "Look at my brain, little Mary, you don't know Gwen, right? She and Peter met during their internships, probably after you went to Boston. She's a smart girl, and Peter has finally found an opponent in this area. β
"Oh... That's rightβ" Mary lowered her head slightly, letting her long fiery red hair cover her face. "They know... It's only been more than half a year? β
Aunt Mei looked a little confused, and after folding her hands and counting them a few times, she let out a surprised exclamation. "That's right, they've only known each other for half a year. I don't know why, but I always feel like they've been dating for a long time... It's good to be young! β
Half.
Half a year, just half a year.
Are you kidding!?
The beautiful face in the shadows has become a little distorted. Half? I've known him for most of my life, but I lost to a woman who's only known each other for six months and doesn't know where she came from!?
There is no doubt that the vile and obscene woman must have used some shameful and lowly means to deceive Peter.
As soon as Mary imagined the scene of the upright but innocent Peter being toyed with by such a person, a nameless fire rose from her heart. This anger blended with countless other emotions, and it made her feel like her heart was going to explode. She clenched her teeth, her fingers subconsciously increased their strength, and by the time she reacted, there were already a few more bruises on her originally white thighs.
However, Aunt May did not notice these tiny details. Seeing that the girl in front of her suddenly fell silent, Aunt Mei looked a little flustered.
"How... What's wrong? Is the cake not to your taste? Is the coffee cold? Need me to make you another drink? Aunt May quickly got up from her seat, but Mary quickly reached out to stop her.
"No, nothing." Mary quickly wiped the corners of her eyes and brushed her hair away, revealing her brightest smile. "The cake is delicious, and Mei's craftsmanship is still so good."
"Ohβ" Aunt May nodded with a puzzled look, relieved at the sight of Mary's seemingly unpretentious smile. Then, a look of embarrassment suddenly appeared on her face. "It's just the only thing I can get my hands on over the years."
"But just those few things, you're already a Master Chef." Mary slapped her ass one by one without blushing, making Aunt May smile and squint.
A strange look flashed through Mary's eyes. After hesitating for a moment, she opened her mouth, but her tone seemed very natural.
"Did Peter say where he would go today?" Mary subconsciously grabbed a strand of her hair and pinched it to her fingertips and played with it. Aside from the slight tremor in her voice at first, she seemed quite relaxed and natural. "I'm going to get some clothes today, maybe I'll run into him on the street."
-----
Mia's mother, this funny-sounding Italian restaurant with no toilet is one of the most popular restaurants in Queens. Although the interior looks rather shabby, their handmade pasta and milkshakes with secret recipes are a must.
After a not-so-romantic feast, Peter and Gwen sat face-to-face in the window seats, enjoying their desserts while chatting casually about some of the things in their recent lives.
"He's finally able to do the job he loves now, but to be honest, I'd rather he wasn't." Gwen sighed and drank the milkshake in her hand. "Now he works more than 80 hours a week, and I can't even see him. He also had an old problem with his waist, and now he couldn't walk, but he still insisted on going to the office every day to deal with those bastards. β
"I'd better advise him to pay attention, but I don't think the success rate is high." Peter replied lazily. After all, he was doing what he liked, and it was difficult for others to stop completely no matter how much others persuaded him. Like Harry, he became completely obsessed with things related to the company as soon as he started working on them. β
Peter sighed and continued. "Besides, the current situation in New York really needs someone like your dad to come to town."
"Of course, you must have said that." Gwen rolled her eyes at him. "You're the same guy as he is, you never listen, you just make people worry. With so many reports about Red Mask in the newspapers, why don't you avoid the limelight when you know the situation is dangerous? β
"Sheltered from the limelight? Even I'm out of the limelight, so who else is there to help the innocents who are caught up in it? β
"Leave it to the professionals!" Gwen tapped on the table. "You're treating the entire New York police officer as an idle eater?"
"The police in New York don't have the same superpowers as I do." Peter smiled wryly. "It's not just the unarmed citizens who want to help."
"Iβ" Gwen hesitated, but said her words anyway. I just don't want to hear about anything that happened to you or Daddy. β
With this pessimistic remark, the atmosphere between the two suddenly became gloomy. Gwen also realized that she seemed to have said the wrong thing. She lowered her head and began to drink her drink quietly.
"That's right! At this afternoon's amusement park, I actually invited Harry at the beginning. β
Peter hurriedly tried to change the subject, but his method was rather lame. "I gave him the meeting place, but he hasn't answered yet, maybe he's too busy."
"Anyway... On the birthday of his cute girlfriend, he called his good friend. Peter, your words would make one wonder if there's anything unpleasant between you and Harry. Gwen was quite dissatisfied with Peter's words. Pouting, she gently tapped Peter's forehead. And Peter's face was almost green when he heard this.
"Uh.... I don't know why, but suddenly I feel like throwing up. β
"Want to throw up!?" Ge Wen looked frightened, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but leak a wicked smile. "Peter, you've been a few months!?"
"Hey, hey, get the thought of a man having a baby out of your dirty mind! You're not a rotten girl, right? Peter protested loudly, but the more he spoke, the more he felt that something was wrong with what he was complaining about. Wait a minute, why are you big enough to get me and Harry together? β
"Don't you think this story is romantic?." Gwen said as a matter of course. Poor, lonely, but kind-hearted, Cinderella discovers that her table mate is the heir to a large group. They hit it off at first sight with the same interests and hobbies, and as time went on, they began to have that little affection for each other..."
The little stories that Ge Wen made up on the spot became more and more excited, and a trace of abnormal blush appeared on her face, and there seemed to be a few small sparkling stars in her eyes.
And her delusion was interrupted by Peter's righteous hand knife in the next second.
"Romantic!? It's not normal at all, is it!? Peter's face was flushed now, and his raised voice was starting to attract the attention of the rest of the restaurant. Why is my girlfriend looking forward to me going to with other men so much! I'm a pure man who can't be straighter anymore! β
"That's what everybody says before they come out. Andβ" Gwen sneered. "Pure masters..."
"Youβ" Peter found himself seemingly unwittingly drawn into a strange topic, and now he didn't know how to escape from the maelstrom. So he could only hold his head weakly, trying to calm himself down.
"Resign yourself to your fate." Gwen continued to mend the knife towards Peter in a tone of pity. "You and Harry should have been married a long time ago, he's a husband and you're a wife."
"Don't!" Peter finally couldn't help but slap the table. "Why should a man marry a man? Besides, even if I get married, I should be my husband! β
Silence.
"Hey... I can't pretend I didn't hear you. β
A strange and familiar bass voice sounded from behind Peter, and Harry, still dressed in a suit, walked up to Peter, picked up two chairs and placed them next to Peter and Gwen's seats.
"Well, Peter, the wife you want has been delivered. Enjoy," Gwen made a cross-and-cross gesture with a wicked smile, and Peter's face turned green.
"Youβ" he shuddered and pointed at Gwen, who clapped her hands and pressed her chin to her fingertips.
"Of course it's on purpose~" she said with a grin. "I saw him when she was across the street."
"He's....", interrupted, Peter turned his gaze to Harry, who only shrugged his shoulders.
"Gwen is an intern at my dad's company." Harry stretched, a hint of exhaustion on his face. "I asked Gwen directly after you invited me, and she was glad I could come along."
"You trick me...", Peter, who wanted to cry without tears, whispered, his tone full of grievances. But the other two merely laughed gloatingly.
Just then, a fiery red figure squeezed in and took the seat between Harry and Peter. Smelling the familiar smell of her, Peter, unprepared, felt as if his brain was running out of sight.
Gwen and Mary's voices rang out at the same time.
"Harry, why don't you introduce your girlfriend?"
"Peter, it's been a long time."
