Chapter 496: Lao Hong, the Insider
Dr. Hall's face was gloomy as he swept away all the shattered instruments.
These things are not precious instruments, there is nothing to worry about, and Brooke will find them again in the future anyway. Alexia has been gone for a while. Hall took advantage of the sweeping effort to carefully reflect on what had happened.
Brooke must have planned the whole thing a long time ago. It was probably something that happened during the meeting that ignited the fuse of this plan. Later, Brooke came here and smoked a cigarette, and by that time he was probably already mildly depressed.
Then he devised a ploy to successfully seize his weakness and force himself to help him kill together. After his own refusal, his bipolar disorder exploded.
Brooke threatens Hall with a gun pointed at Alexia, who eventually compromises and gives N-dimethylnitrosamine to Brooke. Hall doesn't know much about the inside of their police force, and he doesn't know who Brooke is trying to kill, and maybe even Chief Pierre.
But no matter who he kills, he is his accomplice. Hall knows this very well.
The things had been given to Brooke, and Hall could only hope that he would listen to him and go back to sleep first. Wait until he is in good spirits and try to persuade him.
Hall doesn't have much hope for himself, though.
He is a surgeon, not a psychiatrist. He can cure the physical disease, but the mental illness may not be more serious.
Hall emptied the things into the trash and sat back in his chair. After a moment's pause, Hall took a sip of his coffee, which was cold.
Something like this happens. Hall should have reported it to Pierre. And just now, he has been thinking about whether to do this.
For the sake of the professional ethics of doctors. Holben should not have disclosed the patient's condition to other unrelated people. But Brooke's state is really worrying, and indulging him is not only hurting him. It will also hurt other people.
In fact, Hall could have stayed out of it, as if it had never happened, and Brooke couldn't have poisoned himself anyway.
He can also go and report it to Pierre. When the time comes, everyone will be stolen, but Van Pierre has a slight suspicion that Brooke wants to harm him, and Brooke will never survive.
Unfortunately, Hall didn't want Brooke to die, nor did anyone else die. Of course, the two contradict each other, and someone will always die. That's why Hall is so entangled.
Even more worrying. When someone I know is sent to my operating table, I believe that it will be a hundred or a thousand times more entangled than now. It's ironic that he helped Brooke kill someone, and that person had to be sent to him for treatment!
In a frustrated mood, Hall drained all the cold coffee in one gulp.
Uncovered, Brooke died. Forbearance, others die.
Fuck! Hall felt that if he continued to think like this, he would be the one who died!
Annoying.
Hall pulled the drawer open. I pulled out a box of cigarettes from inside. In Alexia's presence, Hall never smokes.
Although he used to be an old smoker, he has long since quit. Only when I am depressed will I draw a few to relieve my sorrows.
He now regretted giving N-dimethylnitrosamine to Brooke. From the onset of symptoms to death, the poisoned person has several days to live. When the time comes, he will lie in the infirmary and moan non-stop. And he has to face his miserable situation every day
Just thinking about it, Hall felt his hairs stand on end.
He regretted it, he regretted why he hadn't given Brooke ****** or ****** just now. That doesn't take an hour to trigger death!
Hall threw the cigarette butt away and shook his head violently. Drove the idea out of the head.
Hall, Hall, what the hell are you thinking!??
*****************
Lao Hong sent Alexia out of the door. Looking at the figure that was gradually moving away, there was no longer any mood for small talk. Looking down at the white medicine bottle in his hand, Lao Hong's expression was solemn, not knowing what he was thinking.
It turned out that Alexia hesitated after picking up the medicine bottle that Brooke had thrown away, and finally came to Lao Hong.
As a female doctor, although her status in the manor is not low, she has few friends. Jian Dun, Dave, Yuan Shiqi, Lao Hong, Ning Dongqing. That's how many people can be called 'friends'.
Dr. Hall was more like her teacher, and the cops who flattered her were unlikely to be worthy of the word friend.
Suddenly encountering such a strange thing, Alexia didn't know how to deal with it at all. After thinking about it, she still decided to discuss it with Lao Hong.
Although Janeton is smart, he is still too young. Compared with Lao Hong, he is not so reliable after all. And Lao Hong's English is much better, and it is no longer a problem to communicate.
After dismissing Yuan Shiqi, Alexia told Lao Hong everything that had just happened.
It's not that she doesn't trust Jian Dun, Yuan Shiqi and them, the main thing is that this matter hasn't been sorted out yet, and there are too many people who know it, and there is no benefit at all. If the news leaks, Brooke will not be sorry to die, but it will be bad if Dr. Hall is harmed.
After listening to what happened in the infirmary just now, Lao Hong pondered for a while, and did not rush to speculate.
Of course he knew what Brooke was, and Martin didn't usually mention him. Since Brooke now wants to kill the person who threatens his position, it certainly won't be Director Pierre. Otherwise, it is called a usurpation of power.
And no one else in the manor could possibly pose a threat to him. In this case, the problem must be within the police force.
As for who the unlucky guy was, due to the lack of clues, Lao Hong couldn't guess it for the time being. One thing is for sure, that guy Martin is safe.
Police officer Martin has no ambitions, and he thinks about getting a few more cigarettes every day, how can such a person pose a threat to Brooke. But you can wait for Martin to come back and knock on the side to see if you can find out anything.
It stands to reason that Brooke had already left the infirmary, and Martin should have returned. But I haven't seen him until now, so it seems that he must be happy with the other policemen.
Lao Hong comforted Alexia and told her not to reveal the matter to others for the time being. When he has a clue, he will definitely inform Alexia as soon as possible.
Alexia is now completely out of the driver's seat, and can only obey Lao Hong's arrangement. Before she left, Lao Hong also asked for the white medicine bottle containing Valium.
It was useless for Alexia to keep this thing, so she left it to Lao Hong without thinking too much.
Lao Hong stared at the medicine bottle and pondered for a while, and was finally awakened by the sound of footsteps in the distance.
Looking up, Martin was back.
