Chapter 536: Demon Refinery
"Webb, where did you take us here?" Li Fatzi looked at the huge factory in the distance in disbelief.
"Wait! Why isn't this factory on the map? Inoue checked the map several times, but he couldn't find the factory, which was not too far from them.
Inoue suddenly thought of something, and immediately checked the printing date of the map.
This is a map of the city of Norween in 2014.
"Could it be that this factory was built recently?"
Kazuya Inoue seemed to have found the right answer, but Webster shook his head.
"Building a factory like this would be enough to be in the Guardian, the Times, and the BBC."
Webster said as he led the way towards the factory.
"Have you heard such exciting news in Nort City in the past two years? Of course not, because"
"Because of what?"
"Because this factory was built as early as 1960." Webster answered the questions of Li Fatzi and Inoue without looking back.
"1960? Isn't it half a century ago? Li Fatzi was a little surprised by the factory's existence.
"Then why isn't it mapped? You know, it's almost even a roadside shop. "Inoue is getting more and more confused by Webster.
When Inoue was part of Matilda's team, they couldn't do without a map. Especially after the map provided them with a lot of resources, almost everyone developed a blind trust in them.
When leaving the base, Inoue naturally took a map with him.
Pity. Webster doesn't use it much. The reason is that what he's looking for isn't on this map.
"The refinery was shut down by the government back in 2000. It's probably zero eight, or zero nine. I do not know. So, this 2014 map doesn't include a factory that has been abandoned for many years. I'm not too surprised. β
Webster solves the confusion of Inoue and Fatty, but more problems follow.
"Refineries? What does that do? Inoue was very unfamiliar with this word that he had never heard before.
"A crude oil refinery, simply put, is a plant that processes crude oil. OK, I guess I still need to explain the relationship between crude oil and gasoline first, right? β
Seeing the blank faces of Inoue and Li Fatzi, Webster had to explain in detail.
"Crude oil is natural oil that is extracted from the ground. It is a liquid mineral with hydrocarbons as the main component. The refinery is responsible for processing the crude oil, which is classified into three grades according to the octane number: 90, 93 and 97, which produces the gasoline sold at the gas station. β
Hear here. Inoue and Li Fatzi finally figured out what a crude oil refinery does, but they still have a lot of problems.
"OK, I guessed what you thought."
Li Fat Man grabbed Webster and asked puzzled.
"But as you said earlier, this refinery has been abandoned for six or seven years, so what are we doing here? Do you think there's still gasoline left? In other words, why was this factory shut down by the government, this is too wasteful, right? Li Fatzi looked at such a huge factory area and was puzzled by the British government's decision.
"Environmental concerns?" Inoue tried to guess.
βBingoγ That's right. This factory is a product of the 60s of the last century, and it causes more pollution every day than you can imagine. The townspeople even named it the Demon Refinery, but its original name had been completely forgotten. Just a few years ago, under pressure from the population. The government had no choice but to shut it down. β
Webster said, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"The Demon Refinery isn't really dead, though. It's just fake animation. β
"Fake death? What do you mean? β
"In the first two years of its closure, the Demon Refinery was truly dead. The side effects of this decision are quite significant. Many of the shops that depend on the factory for their livelihoods have moved out of the area. β
Webster began to set off towards the refinery again.
"For example, food stores. Supermarkets, bars, apartments, guesthouses and much more. The location here is remote, and without the consumption of those workers in the factory, these shops naturally cannot sustain themselves. Within two years, seeing that there was no hope of reopening the factory, the shopkeepers fled. β
"Then why doesn't the government upgrade this demon factory? Is such a factory, land and equipment wasted like this? Li Fatzi asked puzzled.
"It's a demon refinery, not a demon factory. You call it a sweatshop in the Third World. β
As a typical British, Webster is still very tsundere.
"It is said that the cost of renovating such a refinery is far more than rebuilding a modern, low-polluting, high-efficiency new refinery, so no one wants to take on such a mess. Of course, whether this involves the interests of some high-level leaders, as well as the struggle for rights, we **** don't know. β
Webster said with some self-deprecation.
"When the shops moved away, it was almost a place where birds don't poop. This also provides a lot of convenience for its resurrection from the dead. β
"You're saying that someone risked breaking the law to get this demon factory back up and running?" Fat Li probably figured out what Weber was talking about fake death.
"It's the Demon Refinery, is that hard to say?" Webster repeated the refinery several times before he went on to explain, "It's not going to be back in action. It would take at least a thousand workers to restore such a factory to its normal state. If that's the case, no one else needs to find out, and the news has leaked long ago. β
"What about them?"
"About three or four years ago, someone saw that the rumors had passed, so they restarted the idea of this demon refinery. You know, these things that we see as discarded garbage, in the hands of those who wield power, they are money printing machines, which can provide them with endless pounds. β
Webster's tone was full of sarcasm.
"It's off the beaten track and not easy to spot. They work at night and rest during the day. As for the number of people, who knows, anyway, there will definitely be enough gasoline to be processed. β
"It's still a gang. Webb, you probably didn't work here, did you? β
Li Fatzi asked Webster with some suspicion. If Weber hadn't been involved, Li Fatzi really couldn't figure out why he knew so much.
"Huh"
Webster stopped, turned around and smiled mysteriously at the fat man.
"I never told you what I did before the disaster, did I?"
Li Fatzi subconsciously shook his head.
it! The smell of gossip! There's got to be some big gossip in there!
"You know, you don't have to be with them to know these things."
Webster said very arrogantly.
"I've looked into them, very deeply."
"! Webb, what the hell did you do before!? Say it! β
Li Fatzi was completely attracted to Webster, he never thought that Weber was also a man with such a background.
"Since that's the case, it doesn't hurt to tell you, I'm"
Webster deliberately lengthened his voice, causing Li Fatzi to urge him.
"I'm a staff member at the UK Government Communications Headquarters."
"Government Communications Headquarters? What does that do? "This institution is a little unfamiliar to Li Fatzi.
"The Government Communications Headquarters, together with MI5, MI6 is known as the three major intelligence agencies of the United Kingdom. Of course, we're not that well-known compared to the two guys in the back. β
Seeing the stunned look on Fat Li's face, Webster smiled with satisfaction.
I haven't heard of any communications headquarters, but the daimyo of MI5 and MI6 is like thunder. I didn't expect that an ordinary person like Webster would have such an amazing background!
Inoue on the side suddenly thought of something, and he stopped talking a little. Seeing the excited appearance of Li Fatzi, Inoue still didn't say anything in the end.
"Webb, do you know why this disaster happened? By the way, why are you investigating this plant? Is there some secret in this?"
Seeing that Li Fatzi asked endlessly, Webster suddenly regretted it.
"Stop. Actually," Webster said with an embarrassed face, "Actually, I'm just joking."
"Huh?"
Li Fatzi didn't react at once, this surprise was really shocking.
"Actually, I wanted to say it just now" Seeing that Li Fat Man finally stopped, Inoue said, "If it is really as Weber said, he has investigated this demon even factory, how can it take more than half a month to find it." β
"Inoue, I didn't expect you guys to be quite sharp-minded. Come, follow me along, it's a refinery, not a factory. β
Webster said, seeing the bewilderment on Fat Li's face, he couldn't bear it.
"Lai, it's just a joke, you didn't take it seriously, did you?"
"You mean, it's all false? What is the Government Communications Headquarters? β
Li Fatzi still thinks a little and is reluctant to believe the facts.
"The information of the Demon Refinery is all true, as for the latter paragraph, yes, how could I be such a big man I'm-sorry."
Unfortunately, the reality is so cruel.
"Webb, you know what?"
Li Fatzi said with a somewhat gloomy face.
Webster smelled danger and immediately turned around and ran.
"Stop! You scammer!! See that I don't hack you to death!! β
Li Fatzi raised the fire axe and immediately chased after it.
Inoue looked at the distant backs of the two, shook his head with a smile, and hurried over.
The Demon Refinery in the distance, what was there to greet them?
