Chapter 38 The Father-in-law of the Land
I didn't think much of it at the time, and when I ran up to the dwarf, I jumped over his head. Just as my feet hit the ground, my body suddenly lost its balance. I tripped over the corner of my pants and threw myself across the ridge, thankfully not rolling into the paddy field.
I thought to myself, oh no! The dog must have opened its big teeth and gnawed at my calf right away.
But the dog didn't pounce again. I turned around strangely, only to see the half-body dog crashing into a large rock. The stone was in the place of the dwarf I saw.
Am I mistaken? Instead of a dwarf, you just ran into a rock? I rubbed my eyes, and indeed the stones, the long beard, the wooden staff, and the cloak were gone. It could have been a half-dog that crashed into a rock and dragged me down.
Grandpa chased after me and looked in amazement at me who had fallen to the ground and the halfling dog that had hit the rock.
Later, I heard the fourth grandmother gossip about the land father-in-law. The reason was that a child asked the fourth grandmother why the land temple was as short as a chicken coop. Every village in our area has a land temple, which is usually built in a place facing the water and near the mountain. The Land Temple is not as tall and mighty as the Monk's Temple, its top is only waist high, and its width and length are only three feet, which is really like a chicken coop. The fourth grandmother, who is in charge of taking care of the land temple, explained that the father-in-law and the mother-in-law are both dwarves less than a meter tall, and the father-in-law holds a wooden staff in his hand and the mother-in-law holds it with her hands crossed.
There is a reservoir in the col of the back mountain, and there is a flat land in the corner of the mountain next to the reservoir, where the land temple of Thrush Village is built. Maybe it was the apparition of the father-in-law of the land who saved me. But it is not excluded that I was frightened and dazzled.
Grandpa pulled me up from the ground, patted my clothes and said, "I forgot to tell you, in fact, you don't have to run, the more you run, the more it bites you." If you squat down and pretend to touch the ground with your hand, it will not dare come near you, thinking that you have picked up a stone to hit it. ”
I thought to myself that if you hadn't told me or given me the ancient book earlier, I wouldn't have had to run so badly.
Grandpa washed the scales in the paddy field and took me back to my mother-in-law's house.
As soon as we entered the door, the horsemen said to us excitedly: "My mother is breathing, although it is very weak, but it is already there." ”
I turned around to look at the dwarf mother-in-law, and the hair next to my nose fell with my breath. But I noticed that her body seemed to be getting smaller and smaller, like a sweater shrinking. It was a very subtle change, and no one noticed it at the time, but I noticed it. I had not yet calmed down because of the fright, and I thought my eyes were delusional, so I did not tell them what I had found.
My grandfather and I both fell asleep quickly that night.
In my dreams, I dreamed that the dwarf woman was as soft as a puddle of mud, her body was flat, as if it was about to flow like water, and her nose was soft and about to fall. I tried to call the dwarf mother-in-law, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make a sound. The dwarf mother-in-law's eyes looked at me, but apparently ignored me like a transparent person.
I tried to move my feet to her, but my feet lifted. At this moment, the halfling dog slowly approached the dwarf woman and sniffed her with his nose. I smell the stench again.
The half-body dog stretched out the stone and added to the face of the short mother-in-law, and the head of the short mother-in-law was actually half drunk by the half-body dog like gruel! I was so frightened that I screamed for my grandfather. The halfling dog seemed to hear my cry and turned to look at me, with the eyes of a dwarf woman between her huge teeth!
Suddenly, I heard a "snoring" sound in my ears, and I woke up from my dream. When I touched my face, it was all sweat.
I didn't dare to close my eyes anymore for fear of going back to the nightmare. The walls of the house disappeared into the darkness of deep water. I suddenly felt how scary it was to deal with ghosts. I kept my eyes open until dawn, accompanied by my grandfather's snoring.
I saw the sunlight coming in through the window, and I fell asleep again. It was a light night's sleep, and my ears could hear everything outside the house, even sounds that I wouldn't normally hear, such as the sound of other pitchers' clothes between their feet, such as the croaking of my stomach and intestines. It was an amazing feeling. I had that feeling like this two or three times in the days when I was fighting ghosts with my grandfather, and I never showed it up again after I went to college.
My dream foreshadowed the death of the dwarf mother-in-law.
