Chapter 123: The End of the Matter
Whether Mo Tie is illiterate or not, it depends on the situation.
To the old monsters like Gandalf and the orc leader who lived for an unknown amount of time, he was utterly illiterate; For a toddler in the town who had been in school for a few years, he was a classmate.
Mo Tie has a super brain and an almighty translator, and after studying for a few months, he can at least understand a picture book with a high popularity rate and simple vocabulary like "Queen of the Wolf's Heart".
But Lawrence didn't know. When he saw the three books at the head of the bed, the food in his hand almost scared off - it's over, this guy is literate!
When Mo Tie walked into the store, Lawrence didn't dare to look at him, but while bowing his head to settle the account, he said, "Mr. Ain, you're back, and the food has been put in the room."
When Mo Tie went upstairs, Lawrence walked around the counter like a pins and needles, and several times the guests called him without paying attention.
As soon as dinner time passed, he finally couldn't help it and knocked on Mo Tie's door.
"Mr. Lawrence, is there anything you can do?"
Mo Tie took the design of the longbow in the afternoon, searching for his memories with great difficulty. Seeing Lawrence come in, the heart said that it was indeed here, and asked.
"Mr. Ain, I'm here to take away the dishes."
Lawrence said incorrectly, his eyes staring at the piece of paper in Mo Tie's hand from the moment he entered the door.
"Is Mr. Lawrence interested in my weapon?"
Mo Tie turned the blueprint to Lawrence and asked him to see it clearly.
Lawrence quickly glanced at it twice, and found that it was indeed some drawings on it, so he secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and asked again, "Did Mr. Ain redesign that bow with Forging Mo today?" β
"Yes, with this new weapon, it will be safer to sweep the orc lair in the future."
Lawrence noticed the word "sweep".
"Mr. Ain, did you kill all the orcs in that underground cavern?"
Mo Tie thought for a moment and said, "Yes, but when I went in, there weren't many orcs there, maybe it was an abandoned lair." β
Lawrence looked at him and said, "May I take the liberty of asking, if you have found any other letters in that cave?" You know, my brother died there, and I care a lot about that. β
Mo Tie suddenly realized and said: "Ah, you are right, other letters may also have been written by your brother, I'll look for them." β
He picked up his backpack and rummaged through it.
Lawrence stood there and swallowed nervously.
"I found it, the name on this one is a woman, I don't think it's likely that your brother wrote it, so I didn't show it to you."
Mo Tie handed Lawrence three pieces of "Elaine" letterhead.
Lawrence took it, and when he saw the beginning, his eyelids jumped. When he finished reading the first two memories of Mikael, his eyes were already slightly red.
He continued to flip through the next one, which read:
ββ¦β¦ Despite all that, Elaine, I'm still worried about you. What would you do if I died? Will your brothers who are not as good as beasts take the opportunity to bully your mother and daughter?
I thought for a long time about how I could make you happy for the rest of your life. There's only one way to do that.
Among my brothers, the one who can give you a stable and happy life the most is not me, but my third brother Lawrence. Although he is timid, he lives a stable and risk-free life, and moreover, he has a crush on you and often peeks at you with infinite love in his eyes.
Now, I'm dying, and I hope you can marry Lawrence so that you can live happily ever after, and maybe your dreams come true.
Assume it was my will, Elaine. β
When Lawrence saw this, tears were dripping down the paper, his shoulders shaking, and his hands trembling.
He sat down on the bed weakly and murmured bitterly, "Mikael, I was wrong, I really was wrong, I shouldn't have left you, and I shouldn't have taken the opportunity to approach Isolda." β
After he cried for a while, Mo Tie asked out loud, "Mr. Lawrence, is this also written by your brother?" β
Lawrence nodded sadly and said, "Yes." It's been three years since this incident, and I thought I wouldn't be sad anymore, but looking at these words from Mikael, I felt that I was wrong, that I was not worthy of Isolda. β
"That is, Mr. Lawrence, you and your brother are fond of Isolda. But she's your brother's fiancΓ©e, and you have to keep your feelings to yourself. After your brother's death, you didn't hesitate to do so when you thought you could take the opportunity to be with Isolda? β
Mo Tie said in conclusion.
"Yes......" Lawrence covered his cheeks with his hands in pain, "I'm a mean person, I have a heart for my brother's woman, I was wrong. β
"Mr. Lawrence, it's been a long time since the incident, didn't your brother persuade Isolda to marry you, everything you are doing now is what he wants to see, you are not wrong, it's just that fate has fooled you."
Mo Tie comforted Lawrence.
Lawrence sobbed silently, silent.
Mo Tie walked out of the room and closed the door.
It all looks like it's over again.
Lawrence didn't ask Mo Tie why he knew the contents of the letter, and Mo Tie didn't ask why he was happy when he first told the story.
Was it after Mikael's death that Lawrence thought of taking advantage of Isolda, or was it the other way around?
These conspiracies and tragedies are but a microcosm of Middle-earth.
If he stays for a few more days, Mo Tie will have to leave this town, so why should he destroy the existing beauty.
The next day, Mo Tie spent the time in the task of sweeping the orcs and handing over the mission, and by the way, he also took a look at how his weapons were built.
Lawrence smiled when he saw Mo Tie going out and coming back, and neither of them chose to tell Isolda about it, even the three pieces of letter paper were left with Mo Tie.
On the last night, Mo Tie packed his things and planned to take his longbow early tomorrow morning and leave.
"Knock knock."
When I opened the door, it was Isolda.
"Mr. Ain, excuse me, are you leaving here?"
Isolda asked, smiling.
Mo Tie was a little strange, he didn't tell anyone about his itinerary, how could Isolda know?
"Because the pick-up time agreed between you and Forging Mo is tomorrow morning, you have all received the bounties at the bounty mission. I'm guessing maybe you'll get out of here tomorrow. β
Isolda's voice was full of wisdom.
It's a bit strange that the bounty is only known to both sides of the mission, right?
"That's right, Mr. Ain, I issued all the tasks to rid the orcs, and I also invested in the blacksmith shop in the blacksmith. Not only that, but the winery in town is also my share, and I know about you filling your backpack with Black Thorn Mead. β
No wonder! There is obviously no Black Thorn Mead for sale in this area, but the winery suddenly openly sold Black Thorn this morning.
