Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Hungry Bodhisattva
Fortunately, there is a temple near our home, which is also an ancient temple of a bit of an age, and it is said that Tang Xuanzang studied here before he was selected. The pen "Fun" Pavilion www.biquge.info Benshan teacher said well, I am worried that no one will teach, and a sticky bean bag will fall from the sky! My dad took me to the temple, planning to ask the local monks and lay people to see how the Buddha and Bodhisattva made offerings.
After arriving at the temple, I happened to catch up with the laymen volunteering inside, and my father respectfully stepped forward to ask for advice, but no one could have imagined that this consultation almost caused a fight between those laymen.
Some lay people told my father that they should use incense burners, melons and fruits to make offerings to the Buddha, and do regular morning and evening classes every day. Some laymen quoted the famous words in the "Diamond Sutra": All appearances are false, and having a Buddha in your heart is an offering to the Buddha, so why do you need to pay attention to any rituals?
Originally, this was something that my father asked them for, but they themselves began to argue with each other because of their differences, and then the more they talked, the more they talked, and the argument developed into a quarrel, and finally they almost started to fight. In the end, it was a monk in the monastery who intervened, and he said to the laypeople: "How did this teachings, which were originally used to seek purity, become a source of anger and hatred? ”
Later, my father asked the monk how to make offerings to the Buddha. The monk said to my father, who was full of mysteries: "How to give love and how to offer." ”
His uncle, is it true that all religious practitioners have this problem of being deceitful?
After returning home, my dad comprehensively considered their opinions and summed up a set of methods that were in line with my family's family conditions: first, in order to save resources, and deeply fit the mystical Buddhist principle that emptiness is color and color is emptiness, I decided not to incense or offer fruit. Before doing push-ups every day, I was asked to recite three times in my heart to this picture: I want to be healthy, I want to be strong, I want all kinds of diseases to stay away from my body! Then, the most bizarre thing is that I want to do push-ups in front of this Buddhist painting, according to my father, doing push-ups in front of the three immortals, will absorb the essence of the sun and the moon more efficiently, and achieve the purpose of strengthening the body higher, faster and stronger. After doing it, bow three times to the Buddha painting, which is considered to be a thanksgiving.
This is the Lee's worship of Buddhism that achieves the highest efficacy at the lowest cost, which is almost child's play.
No matter how speechless I am, I have to listen to my father.
After dinner in the evening, I had my first ceremony, and after a few moments of vague wincing glances at the portrait, I got to the ground and began to do push-ups. After I had done twenty of them with my teeth bared and panting, I slowly stood up and looked at the Buddha painting, as if I saw the Amitabha Buddha in the middle and seemed to squint and smile at me. I was so frightened that my heart pounded and I almost fell back.
Hearing my screaming, my dad rushed to my house and asked me what was wrong.
I said that I seemed to see the Buddha laughing at me, and my father yelled, "What nonsense! Bow well, do you hear? ”
Is it a psychological effect? Maybe yes.
It can be said that in order to make up for my body as soon as possible, my family has invested a lot of money. This Monday is beef flatbread again. When we went home for dinner at noon, our family ate meat and drank soup in the living room, and the light of the three holy Buddhas of the West hung in the back room was shining, and there was not even a bowl of water! Even my mother couldn't look at it, and she asked, "We have a Buddha at home, and we eat meat in our mouths, isn't this a bit too much?" ”
My dad said, "It's okay, haven't you heard from others, wine and meat have passed through the intestines, and the Buddha has left it in his heart!" As long as you have a Buddha in your heart! There is a Buddha in your heart, it doesn't matter what you eat in your mouth! ”
A good wine and meat have passed through the intestines, and the Buddha has left it in his heart! To be honest, I really don't want to say that about my dad, but that's the way it is! This is a typical petty citizen mentality, wanting to get benefits, but not willing to pay the price, and then making up all kinds of reasons to excuse themselves.
The first three days of the week went on as normal, and the recipes were fantastic! Stewed pork ribs on Tuesday and chicken stew on Wednesday, I enjoyed eating it, and at the same time, doing push-ups on the Buddha statue three times a day also went well, and now I can reach the level of doing 20 or 10 standards, which can be said to be a big improvement.
On Wednesday night, something strange happened.
I tried my best to do twenty push-ups, panting, I felt that the blood was a little out of my head, in this state, I didn't understand the Buddha statue three heads, when I just finished the third knock, the head was raised, the ears seemed to suddenly hear a woman's voice: "You eat meat and chicken, old lady, I drank the northwest wind here for three days!" ”
I looked around and there was no one else in the room but me.
A chill ran from my heart to the outside.
I'll go, where does this sound come from? I hurriedly ran to the outhouse and asked my mother, did you just speak? She said no. Then I asked if there was a similar line on the TV, and I got a negative answer. So, I told them about the strange sound I had just heard, but my mother didn't believe it, saying that I must have had auditory hallucinations. But, after all, my dad is a person who has experienced, when I was four years old when I entered Liu Jianguo, I once heard a deep sigh, and it turned out later that sigh was not groundless. My dad speculated that maybe the Buddha and Bodhisattva appeared and asked for something to eat.
After some deliberation, they agreed that the theory of color and emptiness would not work, and that things had to be supplied.
My dad took out the round table from the small room downstairs and cleaned it and placed it in front of the wall with the Buddha paintings, while my mom picked a few apples and put them on the plate, respectfully serving them. After doing all this, I finally put my heart down.
Before going to bed, my dad said that this Buddha and Bodhisattva are really very spiritual, and since they can ask for something to eat, they will definitely be able to help our family! Then he told me that I should tell him any strange noises again.
I turned off the light and lay on the bed, tossing and turning and unable to fall asleep, with thousands of thoughts floating in my head. Just ask, how could the Buddha and Bodhisattva use such a white vernacular as "old lady"?
I turned my head to look at the Buddha painting, only to see the faint moonlight poured on it, the faces of the three Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were hazy and hazy by the darkness, and after my brain supplement, it was a little hideous, and then I thought back to the strange thing that had just happened, I went, this big night was really a little scary.
You must have had the experience of an ordinary human face being illuminated by a faint light in the dark, which will give off a ghostly feeling, just like many people turn off the lights and shine a flashlight on their face and make a grimace. I felt that way at the time.
