Chapter 39: The Devil
Haas and El's journey was not smooth, and as they got closer to the demons, their aura grew heavier and heavier, and they saw many other demon hunters along the way. But every time they got closer, they found their equipment scattered and discarded on the side of the road, and there were even black stained traces of blood.
On the first day, when El and Haas were tracking down the demon, they encountered only the dead bodies of animals, and they could also see the traces and marks left by other demon hunters on the road.
On the third day, some of the witcher's scattered equipment appeared in front of the two of them. Clearly, the witchers had met a demon who was having a plan and were engaged with him. But the witchers are at a disadvantage, the witchers are all people who regard weapons as their lives, and no matter how bad the witchers are, they will not throw away the ones they eat at will.
Neither Elnor nor Haas found any trace of the witchers for the next week, and could only deduce from the marks they left behind that they were not dead, despite the critical situation. But the marks they left behind were getting more and more blurred, and the marks left in the camp showed that the demon's strength was beyond their range.
As they reached the U.S.-Mexico border, when El and Haas arrived, a small U.S. military base on the U.S.-Mexico border was slaughtered, and dozens of corpses of American GIs and witchers lay on the ground.
"It's been less than a day, and we're late." Haas angrily pounded his fist against the wall.
"Please bury their bodies, they are all heroes!" El saw the secret text left by the witcher, which Elgang had just consulted with Haas in the past few days. This is not a classified matter, only those who have had even a little contact with the demon hunting community know about it.
"They left in such a hurry that they didn't even bury the bodies of their companions. They're in big trouble!" El began to drag the corpses with his hands, and although they didn't know each other, they had fought for the world.
But just as Elle had dragged a dry corpse, a small ugly monster pounced on him from the shadows. Before El could do anything, Haas shot and killed the ugly fellow.
Looking at the corpse of the little monster that was still twitching, Haas and El knew that the situation might be worse than they thought. If it weren't for the urgency of the matter, it would be absolutely impossible for these witchers to leave these little demons behind. It's even possible that the surviving demon hunters have been deceived by the other side, and that the demon is leading them to their deaths.
"There's no time to bury them, let's go, wait for the next group to come." Haas was ready to leave, the dead were more important than the living.
"I'm afraid there's no next batch, but I guess the demon should start summoning his men. The other witchers should have encountered the Sniper as well. El carved the runes of "Kenaz" out of thin air, and the scorching flames burned the dead bodies but did not burn the clothes of the dead. The winds of the empty spirit piled up the ashes in separate balls, and the clothes of the deceased were draped over them as the final signs.
"Let's go, hopefully it's not too late."
Haas glanced at El with appreciation, and then it was time for the battle.
After crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, there was a vast wasteland, and Haas's wolf sense of smell told him clearly. "It's close, that guy isn't far away."
Every once in a while, however, El and Haas would see the remains of dead witchers, and Haas, knowing that these witchers were people who put life and death on the line, begged El to bury them. Cremation was the witcher's way of preventing the desecration of his corpse, and El used the flames to send the nameless warriors on their last journey, and Haas's senses for El became much better, and the two began to talk happily.
But when he reached a valley, Haas's face changed dramatically. "Quick! Fast! Someone is in front. The smell of blood was strong. ”
When El and Haas arrived, hundreds of bad demons were besieging a small group of witchers. The Bad Demon is one of the lower demons of Hell, their bodies withered like dehydrated corpses, the parts above their eyes that seem to have been neatly cut off by a hacksaw, and their bare bodies are disgusting white slime.
"There is fire in my hands, and its form is a sword, and its duty is condemned!" El summoned a huge sword of fire and swept away many evil demons, but everyone's faces were not happy.
It turned out that many of the demons died after the baptism of flames, but the remaining demons absorbed the power of the dead demons and became stronger. Although it belongs to the low-level demons, because of this ability, the inferior demons can become the soldiers of the Hell Legion, although they are only cannon fodder.
"And fire is exactly the attribute of these guys." Haas reminded El with an ugly look on his face when he saw the group of witchers.
These El are a little embarrassed, but the mistakes they have made have to be solved by themselves, El eyes flashed coldly, the power of the small universe drummed, and a cold air swept over everyone.
"Ice Ring!" El's whole body emitted a powerful freezing gas, and it emitted in a ring with El's as the center. All the bad demons that were touched by the freezing air were frozen into ice cubes. Then, El smashed them one by one.
"Thank you for your help!" The leader of the group of witchers was a white man in his fifties, and they had almost run out of weapons, with only a few crossbows and some cold weapons left.
"No thanks. You've been chasing that demon, how is it doing? "As a veteran witcher, Haas has a lot easier to communicate with them.
"No, we haven't seen the demon all this time. But we know that it is definitely a demon of lord level or even more powerful, and it is only recently that we have discovered that the place where this demon passes has blurred the boundary between hell and earth, otherwise we would have left here to report to the others................." The white man told Haas what he knew, and in return Haas gave him enough ammunition.
"We're in big trouble, and we can't leave this time if we want to." Haas said to El when he returned.
"A huge demonic aura has begun to envelop the land that the demon has walked on, and that demon has indeed obtained a holy weapon, otherwise the angels would have descended to the earth to investigate." Elle has been educated by Horrigan and knows a lot about the relationship between heaven and hell.
"Then let's kill that guy, killing a lord-level demon can make me brag for a lifetime. What the Winchester brothers can do, I can do too. Haas's gaze burned, and a great ambition filled his chest.
"But the main thing is to catch the demon. If I'm not mistaken, based on the trajectory of the demon's journey, he must have passed through Los Angeles. El pulled out the map and looked at a heavy spot.
