Chapter 12 There is no need to hide

There are always people who like to label the rough sea as gentle, thinking that it is a sacred place full of beauty and nature. I'm one of them, and even after seeing his violent side, I always think it's her wayward little temper. But the old captain didn't seem to think so, and every day of the voyage was a new adventure for him. He enjoyed conquering the sea, the thrill of navigating through storms and showers...

Before I knew it, we had been at sea for almost another month, and I could always think of those people and the stories that happened to them. This had never been done before on the original voyage. I don't know if Cher and Dr. Lowe have influenced me too much, or if my emotional nerves have become sensitive. The old captain also noticed that I spent less time singing to the sea, but more and more time I was stunned in a daze. In his words, puberty has arrived, and I laugh and say that I am long past the age of puberty, but he says that the maturity of men is only a matter of days, or it happens in an instant.

Am I really mature? I thought to myself, when did that happen? Or when I was blocking the falling porcelain for Cher, or when I was helping Dr. Loh gain trust...

But looking at the old captain's vicissitudes of life, I guess that maybe that's what is called maturity, or maybe life is not mature, and we become more mature and rational every day. But will we one day also lose the original innocence? I sighed, turned my head to look at the old captain leaning against the side of the cabin, and took the pocket watch he had brought with me. I've always felt that there was no dial in that watch, and unless it was a mechanical watch of excellent quality, it wouldn't have followed us for so long.

The old captain put his watch in his jacket pocket, took the lame reading glasses, picked up the yellowed map, and looked at it carefully. I knew that he was so serious that he should have chosen a place to go ashore, so I hurried over. I don't know when I was full of anticipation and enthusiasm for going ashore, and the old captain didn't say anything, but watched silently with me. I asked him where he was going next, and he pointed to a small island near us, and I smiled and nodded.

In fact, he had never been to those places, and he did not know what those islands were, but he judged from ordinary experience that the climate and environment were suitable for human habitation. I have the impression that we rarely come across an uninhabited island, and if we do, I will build a simple little house with the old captain, stay for a few days, and dig some vegetables during the day in case we need them.

In the evening I sat on the bow of the boat and watched the moon quietly, taking notes on the speed and direction of the wind, so that I could figure out how long it would be before we reached the pre-selected island. I hummed softly, and the old captain came out and put his clothes over me, and when he saw that I didn't hold a guitar, he sat down beside me.

"Look at the sparkling ripples reflected on the water, how beautiful." The old captain's thick hair and beard were combed back by the sea breeze, and I looked down at the vast sea covered with moonlight, and the lighthouses in the distance reflected the white moonlight, weaving golden and shining ripples on the sea.

"I'm kind of missing those people." I looked down at the vast sea and whispered.

"Son, it's time for you to settle down." The old captain's deep eyes stared into the distance, and his words were full of seriousness.

"And what do you do?" I looked at the old captain's old face and asked in a low voice.

"This is my home, and I'm going to die here." The old captain said in a deep voice.

I didn't answer him, I knew I would stay with him until he left, but I wouldn't make a promise easily, after all, it's not up to me to decide whether I can see the sun tomorrow or not.

The boat sailed smoothly on the gentle breeze on the endless sea, and within a few days we were on the selected island. Before I got off the boat, the smell of camellia came to my face, and the whole island seemed to be full of camellias, white, pink, and yellow, depicting the whole island like a fairyland.

This island must be inhabited, otherwise camellia wouldn't be all over the island. I got off the boat with the old captain and found ourselves in the fragrant camellia forest, the tranquil fragrance that always surrounded us and carried us to the depths of the island.

The old captain was still cautious, and I laughed in my heart that if he was really a primitive tribe, who would have such leisure and elegance to plant camellias on the island. But I slowly followed the old captain, enjoying the scent of camellia that was so refreshing.

The topography of the island is not complicated, we go around a few hills, through a forest of green pines and cypresses, and climb a hill to reveal the village. Even though the village is in the mountains, I feel like I'm in a big city. The small houses with unique charm are red bricks and green tiles, lined up in the middle of the vast fields, tall telephone poles are erected in the streets and alleys, and the neon lights dot the archways. Quietly flowing small canals are scattered between the buildings.

I had never seen such an island before, and I even wondered if the old captain had read the wrong map. I've only heard of these furnishings from other people's mouths, because I and the old captain rarely go to the islands around the city, so I have the impression that Dr. Lowe's living environment is relatively normal, and even if Cher's village is very good, compared to what we see now, they are not worth mentioning.

The old captain seemed to be interested in the village as well, and at first I thought he would shake his head in frustration as he thought it was a big city. In any case, the thought of being able to sleep well at night made my heart happy, and I folded my hands and thanked God for giving me such a good environment. But just after thanking me, I was worried, would such a comfortable environment make me reluctant to leave again, and whether I would meet someone like Xue'er and Dr. Luo that I couldn't forget, thinking about it and sighing again. Alas, when did I become sentimental, I looked at the old captain next to me, and perhaps he was the kind of man he really needed at sea, who could throw all his troubles and obstacles into the middle of the sea.

We descended the mountain, accompanied by the aroma of camellias, to the entrance of the village. I couldn't help but get nervous, as if something amazing was about to happen. I cautiously followed the old captain, treading the winding gravel path and wading through a clear ditch. I was just about to ask the old captain how long it would take to arrive, but when I looked up, I bumped into a girl.
