202 After the storm
When black clouds spread over the top of the mountain, rolling to occupy a large view of the sky, Ivan was trudging through the mountainside of Luoshan with the rest of his soldiers. Behind them, a large number of Neglo Republic soldiers dressed in blue were closely pursuing them. From time to time, sporadic gunshots rang out, and the soldiers in charge of the palace were using their last bullets to buy time for Ivan and the other soldiers.
"Fuck these guys!"
Ivan cursed as he walked, the long trunk of the tree in his hand was much shorter because of his use, but even so, he still needed this rough cane to help him navigate the rugged mountain forest. His steam pack had been thrown away, and the food bag he was carrying hung deflated behind his back, swinging with his movements.
"Brigade commander, did you say that the chairman went back?"
Ivan was followed by a young warrior, Brett Warren. He was joined by Gastens after Elena raised the anti-flag. Because of his intelligence and talent for shooting, he was included in the production brigade and followed Gastens to launch an attack on the army of the Negru Republic, and miraculously escaped all the way unscathed, staying by Ivan's side.
"Definitely going back," Ivan looked up at the sky, judging the time, "it won't be long before the trail is crossed, and as long as the leader returns to Elena, there will definitely be a way to repel the enemy." β
Although I don't know what way the leader can defeat the enemy in such a desperate situation. But Ivan has always had strong faith in Gastens. He looked back behind him, and the gray-clad warriors were scattered in the woods, bowing their heads and hurrying away. The evening sun shone through the sparse trees, gilding them with a faint dull gold.
"That's good, then our sacrifice will not be in vain."
Brett Warren seemed to believe Ivan's answer, and a relieved smile appeared on his face. Ivan scolded him and emphasized it again.
"Who said we were going to die! Run well, run faster than the enemy, and we will see the victory of the revolution! β
Brett Warren looked at Ivan, smiled, and didn't speak. Ivan was a little inexplicably unhappy by his laughter, and just wanted to scold a few more words, but found that the sky suddenly darkened. He looked up, only to find that dark clouds were sweeping across the sky, like arrogant cavalry, driving the dusk of the daylight out of his territory.
"What's that?"
Brett noticed Ivan's gaze and the change in the sky, he looked up at the sky and muttered to himself, but he didn't know what it was. Ivan rubbed his eyes and whispered.
"It can't be the boss, right?"
Ivan, who was guessing at random, naturally didn't know that he had guessed the truth, he retracted his gaze and urged the warriors behind him, "Hurry up, it's better for us to get rid of the enemy when it's dark!" β
The warriors, who had been somewhat concerned about the abnormal changes in the sky, heard Ivan's words and suddenly realized that the black cloud seemed to be beneficial for them to get rid of the track. They took a tired step and continued on their way, and before they had gone a few steps, they heard the roar of thunder from the other side of the mountain.
"Thunder?"
Brett frowned and thought, "Is this the rhythm of heavy rain?" β
"It's a good thing that it's raining heavily!" , Ivan is still the same caliber, "It's raining, the mountain roads are muddy, and it's even more difficult for the enemy to catch up with us!" β
"Brigadier, I find you very optimistic! What's in our favor? β
Brett had already summed up Ivan's train of thought, smiling and teasing. But just as he was about to say a few more words, countless white lightning bolts fell from the sky and enveloped the entire Luoshan Mountain Range. And a few seconds later, a huge thunderclap came down from the sky, one after another, shaking the heart and lungs.
Everyone was silent, and in the face of this huge and majestic force, everyone rose in awe. They subconsciously crouched or lay on their stomachs, for fear of being struck by the jungle-like white lightning, but they found that the electric dragons seemed to be conscious, avoiding their companions and pounced on the blue-clad enemies behind them.
The men didn't even scream, they lost their breath in the lightning. Ivan slowly straightened up, looked at the countless scorched black pillars behind him that had been struck by lightning, and swallowed.
In the blink of an eye, the white lightning jungle had disappeared, but the black clouds in the sky were still rolling. And the enemy who had been chasing after Ivan and them was no longer silent.
And farther away, as far as the eye can see on the mountainside of Luoshan, the blue soldiers who were still all over the mountains have disappeared without a trace, and only the scattered black dots are still proving their existence.
"Brigadier ......"
Brett's voice trembled, "Could this be the chairman's work too?" β
"Fuck it!"
Ivan cursed, and he didn't know who he was scolding. He raised the cane in his hand and waved, "Give me all back, go see those blue dogs!" β
Having just witnessed the unattainable power of manpower, the warriors did not object to Ivan's order. They themselves were curious about what had happened to the enemies who had been chasing them just now. So, under the leadership of Ivan, their front team became the rear team, and the back team became the front team, and together they found the closest pursuer to them.
It was a team of twelve, and it looked like it was supposed to be a squad, and their corpses were gathered together, and they couldn't make out their true faces. Even the clothes turned into strips of black cloth under the scorching of the electric light, sticking to the blackened and carbonized flesh, and could no longer be separated. If you look closely, you can even smell the smell of barbecue in the air. Ivan reached out and tried to touch a charred torso that was still standing, but he didn't expect that he just touched it lightly, and the torso was smashed into several pieces and fell to the ground.
"That's amazing......"
Ivan muttered to himself that he had only tried one corpse and would not look at any more. He could imagine that the other pursuers should have lost their lives just like this corpse. Elena's crisis, because of this sudden thunderstorm, has become a thing of the past in an instant.
"Brigadier, Chairman, he ......", Brett hesitated, but still asked the question, "I don't know any archmage, do you?" β
"There shouldn't be an archmagus in this world, right?" Ivan was a little unsure, he remembered that Gastens had said at a certain council that the decline of magic meant the change of the times, and that communism, as a social form representing the most advanced productive forces, would eventually triumph in revolution.
However, now it was this supernatural power that saved Elena, which made Ivan's mind a little confused. If the Archmages are still alive, then where will Elena go?
In the time that followed, the whole team became somewhat silent because of Ivan's low mood. The warriors, while rejoicing in the destruction of their enemies and their own survival, began to wonder what had saved Elena. They returned to the trail that separated from Gastens and continued their ascent until they reached the summit of Mount Lo when the black clouds had cleared away, revealing a dark blue sky.
Looking at the Elena Plains from the top of the mountain, the glow of the pyroxene is extraordinarily brilliant. Among them, the most dense is the town of Elena on the banks of the Willow Shade River and near the pier on the west side of the riverbank. Some of those lights are fixed, they should be street lamps or lights, and some are moving, and they should be wind lamps that people hold in their hands. Ivan looked at the light and was silent for a moment before leading the warriors down the mountain.
At the bottom of the mountain, they met the soldiers of the third company of the patrol column. They sent away the Gastens and welcomed Ivan and the remnants of the production brigade and the partisan brigade. The commander of the third company held a pyroxene horse lantern aloft and saw Ivan's face clearly, and dismounted as soon as he turned over.
"Brigadier Ivan! You came back alive!!! β
"Yes," Ivan replied softly, and then asked, "Those lightning bolts in the eveningβ"
"That's the Chairman's magic! The Chairman is the Grand Magister!! You know what? It's unbelievable! He's a Magister! He's the Great Magus! You know, when those clouds were coming through the skyβ"
Carey Warren seemed to be interested in the topic that Ivan was asking, and he was like a balloon or something that suddenly burst after holding it for a long time, and he kept talking about it. Ivan replied briefly, and probably asked about Elena's current condition, and learned that Kerry had received Gastens in the evening, so he said goodbye to him, borrowed him two pyroxene lanterns, and began to march towards Elena with the soldiers.
Perhaps intentionally, or unintentionally, Ivan did not take the fighters to the nearest route. He led his warriors from the foot of Mt. Nakto back to the main road from the Mt. Nakto to Elena, and as expected, he saw the relics of the thunderstorm that had fallen in the afternoon.
Large expanses of the wreckage of the army of the Negro Republic.
To say that it is a wreckage is even a glorification of those carbon-black coke blocks that cannot distinguish the shape from their original appearance. The things were scattered along the road, and everything except the metal steam rifle backpack and gun could be discerned, and everything else had turned into black charred blocks. Ivan led the warriors through these scorched blocks, trying to judge from the wreckage what had happened here earlier.
"It seems that the closer you get to Elena, the more powerful those lightning bolts become."
Brett whispered his judgment before picking up a steam rifle on the ground. Judging by the type of gun, it should be the Welsh II of the Neglo Republic. He tried to pull the trigger, only to find that the trigger had melted into the gun and was unusable. Throwing down the iron lump, Brett took two quick steps to catch up with Ivan.
"Brigadier, you don't seem to be happy?"
"It's fine."
Ivan's answer was simple, and he looked ahead. There were voices and pyroxene lights swaying there, and it was supposed to be Elena's people. Ivan and the warriors walked in and found that these were Elena's peasants, many of whom were still carrying large bags on their backs, and it seemed that they were people who had fled into the mountains and then came down again.
"Brother, what are you doing?"
Ivan stepped forward to talk and march forward with the peasants.
"Oh, comrade, I really didn't expect the chairman to be the Great Magister, so that no one would dare to mess with us Ailena. We also heard from your comrades that we had won the war before we went down the mountain. Your comrades said to let everyone go home, and tomorrow the chairman will have an official notice to tell us. We're coming down, where are you from, comrade? β
Although many of the peasants did not join the Communist Party, they still called these fighters comrades. Ivan chatted with them and walked as they gradually departed from both sides of the road, returning to their respective homes, and finally came to the west side of the river with his own party. Here, they saw more corpses, which were even piled up into a hill of one-man height, black, like black tombstones.
"Brigadier Ivan !!"
When I got here, someone knew Ivan. Many warriors are walking around these black wreckage, rummaging for relics and cleaning up the battlefield. They placed a large number of pyroxene lights on the battlefield to provide ample light for the cleaning work.
Ivan looked at the warriors gathered around him, looked at the Glory rifles on their backs, and knew that they should be fighters of the militia unit. He chatted with the warriors for a few words, and finally asked his own question.
"Is this the Chairman's magic?"
"Hmmm! I didn't expect the chairman to be the Grand Magus! That's amazing! A minute ago we thought we were dead, the enemy was going to attack Elena, we resisted desperately, many of our brothers died, but we couldn't beat them. But behind us is the chairman, that is, the people of Elena, we can't withdraw or run, we all thought of ourselves as dead people at that time, I didn't expect the chairman to have such a powerful magic, it's amazing! β
"Oh, oh, that lightning bolt came down in front of me, and it shattered the enemy in front of me at once. But I don't have anything to do with myself, the chairman is really powerful, and now they dare to bully us Ailena! β
The warriors clearly had a strong desire to confide in Gastens as an archmagister. Ivan smiled reluctantly and chatted with them for a long time before being rescued by Sink Warren.
"Brother, it's good that you're alive!"
The meeting was a big hug, Ivan didn't say anything, and Zink didn't say anything. The two big men hugged each other tightly, hammering each other's backs hard, and then letting go, still holding each other's arms.
"Let's go, I'll take you to meet your lord, he must be happy to know that you're back."
My lord?
Ivan was keenly aware that Zink no longer cared about Gastens as the leader. That title was the customary name of their group of veteran warriors who had followed Gastens all the way, but for some reason, it disappeared from Zinke's words.
"I didn't think I'd be alive."
Ivan sighed softly, said goodbye to the soldiers around him, and arranged for the soldiers who came back with him to eat and rest with Zink, before saying goodbye to them and walking with Zink to the factory. Along the way, the whole of Elena was filled with a kind of extreme frenzy and excitement, and people gathered in the streets, talking, chatting, celebrating, and seemed to have no sleepiness at all.
"Is that really magic?"
Ivan asked in a low voice, still a little unconvinced.
"Well, forbidden spells, thundercloud storms. The boss said that he could only put it this once, and he couldn't use it in the future. But people don't believe ......."
Zink turned to Ivan and asked him.
"What do you think? Will the boss hide another hand? β
"I ......"
Ivan looked ahead at Chaoyang Square, which was lit up with all the lights. Soldiers, workers and peasants gathered in the square and seemed to be in revelry. Their laughter and screams can be heard here.
"I don't know ...... either"
Ivan withdrew his gaze and looked at the ground. The tamped hardened dirt road was under his feet, and there was a quiet silence. It seems that no matter what happens, it is just a small wave in a long time.
Insignificant.
