Chapter 30: Artificial Islands
Heung-woo and Mia frolic in the sea and chase each other. Suddenly, Xingyu stopped, treading water with his feet on the water, floating on the sea, looking into the distance.
Miya knew that there was a situation behind her when she saw Xingyu like this, and Miya, who had just come out of the shadow of the murderer, flashed the figure of the murderer in her heart, and immediately turned around and looked behind in fright.
Both of them could see something floating in the distance near the sea level, but they were floating in the sea with limited vision and could not see what it was.
Heungwoo and Mia immediately climbed onto the inflatable boat and stood to look at what looked like a square. Miya asked Xingyu suspiciously: "What is that?" It's like an ice bucket, but you can see it from so far away, I'm afraid it's dozens of times larger than an ice bucket. Xingyu replied uncertainly: "It seems that it may be a small container three meters long." Xingyu was also puzzled, and then said: "This kind of container is rarely used in sea transportation. Usually, 12-meter-long containers are used for sea transportation, and six-meter-long containers are rarely used. "The container they saw was too small, which is why Xingyu was unsure when he first saw it.
As the container slowly drifted in their direction, Xingyu was sure that it was the container that was drifting. And not just one, not far behind that container, there were two same small containers.
Soon after, Xingyu and Miya saw three small containers followed by six large containers that were twelve meters long.
It seems that a freighter has been shipwrecked, most likely in a tsunami. The storm of the previous day could not have caused the freighter to fall off the container.
While waiting for the container to slowly drift in, Xingyu laid a bold plan in his heart. Xingyu excitedly told Miya his plan: "Wait a minute, let's give up the first and second containers." We tied the lifeboat to the third container and let the third container lead the lifeboat. Then we selected four 12-meter containers and tied them together to form an artificial drifting island. After Xingyu finished speaking, Miya opened her mouth wide and looked at Xingyu with wide eyes in surprise: "Just the two of us are going to build a drifting island?" Xingyu excitedly walked behind Miya and hugged Miya and said, "I am responsible for building the island, and you are responsible for supporting the inflatable boat." Miya squinted and roared when she saw Xingyu hugging herself again: "You seem to be very used to bullying me now!" After Xingyu listened, he hugged Miya more tightly, thinking about the details of the island.
Miya was not annoyed by Xingyu's hug, leaned back against Xingyu, and looked at the container. Heung-woo put all the ropes on the inflatable boat to prepare.
When the container approached the lifeboat, Xingyu jumped into the sea with a fishing knife and waited. Xingyu prepares to tie the lifeboat to the third small container and let the container lead the lifeboat.
The sea is vast, and people are self-centered, and it is easy to have the illusion that other objects are drifting towards them.
Sometimes, however, it's actually drifting to other objects. The container has a large water blockage and a slow drifting speed.
Mia thought it was a container drifting towards them. But Xingyu knew that it was actually a lifeboat drifting towards the container.
Therefore, Xingyu has to tie the lifeboat to the container, otherwise after the artificial island is built, the lifeboat will not know where to drift.
After Xingyu drifted past the first and second containers with the lifeboat, he swam to the third container to tie the rope.
Once the lifeboat is in place, the island-building work can begin. Xingyu and Mia rowed the inflatable boat towards the two twelve-meter containers closest to each other.
Each container has four corner pieces, which have two side holes and one top or bottom hole. The corner pieces are very strong.
Originally, when transporting, the container was fixed with a hook iron threaded into the corner piece. Xingyu first tied a rope to one side of the bottom corner of the two containers, and then tied the two bottom corners together, but the container was floating on the sea surface and it was difficult to tie it tightly.
So Xingyu just tied the two bottom corners together. Then Xingyu swam to the other side and tied the bottom corner pieces on the other side together.
After that, Xingyu climbed onto the top of the container and used a rope to pass through one side of the top corner of the two containers, and the rope was tied into a rope loop.
Then use a short stick to rotate through the rope loop, twist the rope tightly, and the corners on both sides are tightly together.
Then use a rope to tie the corners on both sides. After Xingyu tied one side, he used the same method to tie the top corner piece on the other side.
After that, the bottom corners on both sides of the container are also tied in the same way. However, it is much more difficult to tie the bottom corners, and the bottom corners of the container are immersed in the sea, so Xingyu has to dive down and tie them tightly.
After the corners on all four sides are tied, the two containers are close together. Xingyu was afraid that the rope was not strong, so he tied five layers of rope again, and stuffed the side holes of the corner pieces with ropes before stopping.
The two containers had already been tied together, and the work of adding rope was much easier. Tie two containers together and it seems easy.
But Xingyu was also busy until the evening. After tying it, Xingyu looked at the sky and knew that it was too late to tie the third container.
Xingyu hurriedly tied one end of the two containers with one end of the rope, and then swam to the nearest container to tie the other end of the rope.
Then he pulled another rope and pulled the third small container that had previously pulled the lifeboat. lest the container drift away at night.
Originally, Xingyu wanted to tie four 12-meter containers together, but now think about it. The larger the plane, the more the containers pull against each other with the waves.
And the containers were just tied to each other with ropes, and Xingyu was not sure that the ropes could support the pulling of the four containers.
In fact, the area of the three containers is 72 square meters, which is equivalent to the area of a small house.
For two people, it's enough. So Xingyu decided to tie only three containers, so as not to be unable to withstand the wind and waves.
At this time, Xingyu was almost exhausted. But I saw Mia excitedly looking at the container that had been tied.
Xingyu still helped Mia climb to the top of the box. The roof area of the two containers is 48 square meters, which is larger than the living room of many houses.
After Mia climbed to the top of the box, she ran around excitedly. However, the roofs of the two containers are still not large, and the waves are shaking.
Mia almost fell into the sea several times. But Mia thought it was funny, anyway, there was the sea below, and she was not afraid to fall.
Xingyu let Miya run happily, while he lay down to rest. It's been a busy day, and I'm really tired. Miya was tired of playing, so she sat next to Xingyu and quietly enjoyed the sunset.
That night, the two of them simply slept on the top of the box.
