At last we came to the bottom of the gentle slope, and it was really the same as I had seen earlier, except for a dark hole three or four meters wide, in which there was no light, and there was no bottom, except that the rope we were pulling stretched perpendicularly.

The monkey roared into the pit, but there was no echo at all, and I guess it was sucked away by the large amount of sand that had been hoarded inside.
