Chapter 8: The Bronze Coffin is Born

The archaeological community across the country was shocked!

Not long ago, the Sichuan Institute of Archaeology excavated an ancient tomb of cave burial culture in a mountain range called Ghost Face Ridge deep in the Qinba Mountains. Due to some special reasons, this ancient tomb has not been fully excavated, so it cannot be determined. However, the archaeological team brought out a giant bronze coffin about 2.4 meters high, 2.5 meters wide and 3.8 meters long from this tomb, which really shocked everyone.

Anyone who understands archaeology knows that there were no bronze coffins in Chinese history, at least so far no such coffins have been found. Similarly, there is only the Da Bo Na copper coffin unearthed in Dali, Yunnan in 1964, but even the Da Bo Na copper coffin is just a copper coffin with a wooden coffin, as for the bronze coffin, it is really unheard of.

Of course, the reason why the ancients did not use bronze coffins was not because they could not afford to use them, but because they could not use them and did not dare to use them. Feng Shui believes that metal coffins will conduct earth qi and easily gather evil, and it is easy to attract evil spirits to make the tomb owner uneasy to die, and it will also cause corpse transformation and descendants, and may even breed great evil things.

Therefore, even the emperor would not use a metal coffin, and even if someone really used a copper coffin, there would inevitably be a wooden coffin or a stone coffin on the outside to isolate the earth's qi from being introduced into the coffin. This is similar to the bronze coffin of Dabo, but what is the effect, it is estimated that only the descendants of the one lying in the copper coffin can answer, after all, there is only this one known copper coffin. In short, the ancients generally believed that the bronze coffin was very evil and suitable for closing the big evil, but it was never suitable for making funeral utensils. Unless, you want to turn yourself into a murderous thing.

So when the news of the birth of this bronze coffin came out, the sensation caused can be imagined. After all, this is the first bronze coffin unearthed in Chinese history, and it is a milestone of great significance.

As soon as the news broke, archaeologists from all over the country rushed to Sichuan to witness this historic scene. But when they really saw this bronze coffin with their own eyes, they couldn't help but be amazed. This bronze coffin has been placed in the cold, damp underground cave for at least a thousand years, but there is no trace of corrosion outside the bronze coffin, and even a piece of patina has not grown.

On the other hand, after nearly half a month of careful preparation, the Sichuan Institute of Archaeology finally ushered in a glorious scene that is about to go down in history under the witness of experts from all walks of life, such as the Palace Museum, the provincial cultural relics protection centers, and the provincial cultural relics and archaeological research institutes.

Because the entire bronze coffin is poured in one piece, the seal can not be found, so it can only be cut. However, cutting is also a door technical work, and it is necessary to open the coffin perfectly without damaging any objects inside, which is not something that ordinary people can do. It is precisely because of such great difficulty that the Institute of Archaeology spent half a month to prepare carefully.

Fortunately, the cutting work went very smoothly, and it took more than seven hours to finally open the huge coffin lid with fear. The archaeologists waiting outside also craned their necks, either through the camera screen or through the thick glass, as if they wished they could take the place.

But when the bronze coffin was cut, everyone was dumbfounded, and there was still a layer of stone coffin inside the bronze coffin.

What the hell is this? Copper outer coffin, stone inner coffin, these experts have never heard of such a strange collocation after a lifetime of testing. If these two orders are reversed, it will be reasonable to turn them into stone coffins and copper coffins. But the fact is so weird, with bronze as the outer coffin, and stone as the inner coffin, what does the tomb owner want to do? Are you really planning to imprison the world's greatest murderer?

Fortunately, the composition of these "stones" was quickly analyzed, and the results were also relieved by many experts. It turned out that the stone coffin was not cut out of real stone, but a layer of rammed earth coffin. Rammed earth, also known as triple earth, was very common in ancient times, just like the cement often used in today's construction industry, rammed earth was also often used in ancient buildings. Rammed earth is used as a coffin, and when it dries up, its hardness is even harder than that of ordinary stones. If you add some glutinous rice juice, tung oil and the like, you can strengthen the hardness even more.

It is only made of rammed earth that the coffin appeared in the Song and Yuan dynasties, but although the age of this ancient tomb has not yet been determined, it can be judged from the decoration on the outside of the bronze coffin, and its age must be much earlier than that of the Song Dynasty. Unexpectedly, long before the Song Dynasty, there were people using rammed earth coffins, and this discovery is also of great significance to domestic archaeology, which makes many experts as excited as a child.

Although rammed earth coffins are also troublesome, it is much easier to open them than bronze coffins. After some fearful cutting operations, the rammed earth coffin was finally opened, revealing the true face of the inner coffin.

Before this, many people had speculated that it was a bronze outer coffin and a rammed earth inner coffin, and the innermost coffin might not be as simple as a wooden coffin. Unexpectedly, after the rammed earth coffin was opened, this fact was confirmed, and the inner coffin inside was actually a sarcophagus.

This is a real sarcophagus, the whole is cut and polished with bluestone. The surface of the sarcophagus is carved with a large number of complex patterns, and the strange patterns seem to be some kind of writing, but they are not oracle bone inscriptions, and they are different from any kind of writing known in China. Many experts wonder if this could be some kind of script older than the oracle bone inscription. Of course, this is just speculation, archaeology is supposed to be bold guesses and careful verification, and the real results will have to wait for the future to be slowly studied. In the end, these are really just meaningless patterns.

The work of opening the coffin continues, but fortunately the bluestone coffin is not as seamless as the bronze and rammed earth coffins, otherwise the technicians really don't know what to do.

When the bluestone sarcophagus opened, it was as if time had stood still in this grid, no breathing could be heard, no exclamations could be heard, and everyone's eyes were staring at the screen or through the glass.

There was only a male corpse lying in the bluestone sarcophagus, and there were no burial objects other than this corpse, not even a piece of clothing and fabric. He was so naked in front of everyone, and after unveiling the veil of mystery, he became an ordinary and ordinary corpse that only existed for research value...... Corpse.

The water of this dried corpse, which I don't know how many boys had existed, had long since evaporated, leaving only a shelf of purple dried skin wrapped in bones. Although the facial features are collapsed, the eyes and nose have become black holes, but the face is still faintly recognizable, and the hands are flat on the sides of the body, looking very calm.

However, what is strange is that there is a blackened thing deep in the place of the eyebrow seal of this dried corpse. It was cast in bronze, it looked like a dagger, but it didn't look like a dagger, it was conical in shape, with blades on all sides, the tip of the cone had sunk into the cavity of the dried corpse, and the top end of the exposed was a smooth cylindrical shape, like a handle for shaking hands.

This mysterious figure, he ...... Murdered?
