Chapter 4: Daniel's Cuisine
"Sebastian Richter, it's a pleasure to meet you, Huber." The young man sitting in the innermost part introduced himself with a serious face, a very pure Germanic man, who seemed to be very serious, unsmiling, and serious about everything.
"Hello, Huber, I'm Robin Koch," said the last young man, introducing himself.
"Well, Richter and Robin, it's a pleasure to meet you." These people are probably their comrades-in-arms in the next few years, and joining the army for the first time has brought a very special experience, and everyone is getting to know each other. While everyone was talking, the car was moving, and it seemed that everyone was together, and the next place to go was where the troops they would serve in the future were located.
"Where are we going?" Licorice asked curiously.
"Don't you know? Why should we, the recruits who meet the requirements, come to the capital to assemble, you know, there are not many troops stationed in the capital, and even fewer can train recruits. Robin Koch asked, looking at Licorice in surprise.
"But the notice doesn't say anything about this?" Licorice thinks it's weird, is this common sense? Why don't I know anything, I feel so stupid.
"The Great German Infantry Regiment, formerly known as the Capital Garrison Regiment, was renamed the Großdeutsche Infantry Regiment by order of the Führer himself on April 12, and the first commander was von Stockhouse, and the requirements were that the height must be more than 1.75 meters, no criminal record and a good level of education." Vincent Klein lightly stated what he knew.
"The Great German Infantry Regiment? Greater Germany? This name seems familiar. Licorice was inexplicably familiar with the name, and carefully remembered where she had heard it.
"I can't tell, you big man knows a lot." Robin Koch looked at Vincent Klein with an inexplicable look on his face and asked strangely with a curious tone:
"It's normal to know the number of the troops, but how can you be so clear?"
"Vincent is a standard military kid, and it's normal for him to know something that isn't classified." Henry Orff jumped out at this time and said everything Vincent Klein wanted to say, and Klein could only nod silently, indicating that he was right.
"No wonder, so are you?" Robin Koch suddenly realized that Henry Orff came with Vincent Klein, so Henry Orff's family background is self-evident.
"That's right." Henry Orff nodded in acknowledgement. No one was surprised that two children of the family came to join the army, only a feeling that it was as it should be.
"Klein, it's said that war is about to start, is that true?" Daniel Miller suddenly asked what the civilians had been speculating about, no fear of war, only nervousness and excitement.
"Yes, it's not a secret, it's just that I don't know exactly when." Vincent Klein gave Daniel's question a clear answer.
"We're going to train now in the Großdeutsche Infantry Regiment stationed in the capital, isn't it very likely that we'll miss this war?" Daniel Miller asked.
"Miller, as a recruit, you must first be well-trained, and then you can participate in actual combat, otherwise what is the difference between going to die and going to die, not to mention that the time when the war began is not certain, and the duration of the war is unknown, everything is still unknown." Sebastian Richter spoke to Daniel Miller in a very serious tone. Richter wanted Daniel to realize that war was not as simple as he thought, and that as a recruit, it was right to do what he had to do first.
"Okay, you're right, we should train first." Daniel Miller admitted his mistakes, there are absolutely no fools who can come here, and those who are not good have long been screened out.
"I suggest you shut up and get some rest, otherwise you'll be choking for a while." Just when the others were about to say something more, Henry Orff suddenly interjected, this tone, it feels very skillful, it is definitely experience. Everyone shut up, and there was an eerie silence in the back of the truck.
"There's always a sense of foreboding." Licorice felt uneasy and had to follow Orff's advice first. I closed my eyes and wanted to take a good rest, but the trucks of this era were not as smooth as those of later generations, and it felt particularly bumpy, and after taking the train for so long before, Licorice, who had never experienced these things, felt that he was about to fall apart.
"Huber, take it easy, you're in a terrible state right now." Perhaps seeing the current state of licorice, Henry Orff suddenly taught licorice how to relax his body in this situation, how to make his own negative impact smaller, how to save physical strength, etc., under Orff's guidance, licorice finally felt much better.
"Squeak~~~Z~~~" Licorice came to his senses in a violent shaking.
"Looks like it's time, welcome to the army, rookies! I hope you don't bring too many extraneous things. Henry Orff said in an old-fashioned voice, his voice filled with gloating laughter, and Vincent next to him was already sitting upright and ready to get out of the car.
"Hurry up, hurry up, get out of the car, assemble!" Corporal Achim Wagner's voice rang out outside.
Licorice was sitting at the outermost point, and when he heard Corporal Wagner's voice, he quickly got up, bent over, jumped out of the truck, and waited until everyone had gotten out
Then they spontaneously lined up ten people in each car, a total of five cars, and because of the fact that there were only six people in the licorice car, a total of 46 people, lined up in five rows and stood in front of Corporal Achim Wagner. The corporal stood straight and did not have any intention of issuing the next order, and the recruits, including licorice, could only continue to stand and wait, but after a while, a barrel cart came in the distance, stopped in front of the recruits, and the middle-aged officer sitting in the passenger seat said to all the recruits with a serious face:
"Welcome to the Big German Infantry Regiment, recruits, I'm the deputy commander of the 3rd Battalion of the Big German Infantry Regiment, Major Adrian Schroeder, and now everyone go and grab the suitcases they brought with them, and assemble here."
Hearing this, everyone lined up to claim their belongings, and Licorice already knew what was going to happen next.
"Dear Henry, do you know how far this is from base?" Daniel Miller struggled to place his suitcase on the ground, splashed up a cloud of dust, and asked in a somewhat trembling voice.
"It won't be very far, the Großdeutsche Infantry Regiment was the capital garrison before, although it was stationed on the outskirts of the capital, it required to be able to enter the city quickly, we have just been in the car for so long, and now it should be within ten kilometers of the base." When Henry Orff heard Miller's question, he thought for a moment and calculated the approximate distance before answering.
"Oh! O my God! Dear Daddy, your son is going to be killed by you! Daniel Miller's face turned green when he heard Orff's answer. Vincent Klein walked up to Miller, took the suitcase and weighed it, and said:
"What did you bring with you? So heavy. ”
"Dad told me about his experience in the army, and I thought that when I got to the army, I should first have a good relationship with my teammates, so my dad said to me: bring your mother's ham and sausages, no one can resist their temptation, that's how I fell in love with your mother." Daniel Miller clutched his forehead and repeated his father's words in a deep voice.
"Ham and sausage?" When Licorice heard Daniel's words on the side, she immediately became energetic, walked up to Daniel with a serious face and said:
"Daniel, I think your father is right, we are comrades now, help you lighten your load, isn't it time to eat?" Licorice looked expectant.
"That's right, Daniel, while it's now, it's not yet assembled, hurry up." Robin also came to cheer Daniel on.
"Well, you're right, it seems like that's the truth." Daniel opened the box in confusion, only to see that the boxes were neatly placed with oiled paper bags, without any personal belongings, all of them were food, presumably considering that the army itself would provide all kinds of daily necessities, and it was not good to put food and other things in one box. Daniel took out the oiled paper packets one by one and handed them to several people one by one.
Licorice couldn't wait to open the oil paper packet, which contained six small sausages roasted to a reddish-brown color, and directly picked one up with his hand and stuffed it into his mouth, as he chewed with his teeth, a fragrance stimulated his taste buds, although it was not freshly made, but it was still a rare delicacy, and Licorice couldn't help but squint his eyes.
"Very tasty Nuremberg sausage indeed, thank you for sharing, Daniel." Sebastian Richter took the sausage, tasted it, and said.
"Don't talk nonsense, eat quickly, we're going to gather soon, and don't eat too much!" Vincent Klein said as he ate.
Seeing that the five new friends liked it very much, Daniel Miller also regained his smile.
After a while, the whistle sounded, and everyone quickly stuffed the remaining food in their hands into their mouths, and looked at the remaining food in the box, and the six people here only ate a fifth. Vincent threw the suitcase he was carrying directly in front of Daniel.
"What are you?" Daniel asked curiously.
"You'll just carry my box in a moment." Vincent motioned for the two to change their weights.
"Good!" Daniel didn't hesitate, and directly lifted Vincent's box, he knew his ability very well, if he didn't change, he probably wouldn't even be able to run half the way.
Assembled, lined up, Major Adrian Schroeder glanced at a few people and began to lecture.
