643, Mavi Shadow Song

Just as Sylvanas began to take on the elven ghosts of Nazaras Academy, a dark elf in leather armor walked onto the Isle of the Watcher with steady steps.

That's right, she's Mavi Shadowsong!

Back in the time of the War of the Ancients, the High Priestess Digana was mortally wounded while leading other priestesses into battle, and she appointed Tyrande Yufeng to take her place. Much to the disappointment of Mavi Shadowsong, she was an old member of the Order, an experienced high-ranking priestess. Tyrande was a rookie at the time, though he showed an extraordinary talent for medical abilities. However, Tyrande was not as experienced as Mavi. In Mavi's eyes, Tyrande spends too much time meditating on the love and peace of the Moon Goddess.

During the war, Mavi felt that Tyrande was better suited to be a priest than a leader. However, Mavi reluctantly approved of the new high priestess and obeyed her orders.

This is not the only thing that surprised Mavi in the Wars of the Ancients. After the Night Elves finished their fight against the Burning Legion, her younger brother Garrod Shadowsong was unexpectedly promoted. When the Night Elf Rebel Commander Ravencrest was assassinated, Garrod quickly filled the void and knew the tactical plan. To Mavi's surprise, the relieved nobles immediately appointed Garrod as the new commander and obeyed his command.

By the end of the war, Garrod was full of honor. Even Mavi, who had always been critical of him in the past, could not deny his bravery. She was furious when she learned that Illidan Fury had attacked and wounded his brother. At that time, Garrod led a team of scouts patrolling the sacred mountain of Hyjal and discovered that Illidan was creating a second Well of Eternity, and he got into an argument with him. Illidan badly wounded Garrod. After a while, Malfurion arrived and captured his fellow brother, and the battle was over.

Enraged, Mavi takes up her weapon and tries to put the captured Illidan to death, but Tyrande stops her, reminding her that Garrod is still alive. Garrod asked Malfurion Fury to decide what to do with Illidan, and Malfurion imprisoned Illidan.

Although Mavi has always admired Malfurion, she is extremely dissatisfied with his benevolent sentence. She volunteered to guard Illidan, who was overwhelmed by her brother's assault. The vast majority of Night Elves now consider Illidan to be both reckless and powerful. They hadn't forgotten that he had been a servant of Sargeras, and didn't believe that he swore to do so just to gain enough strength to take on the Burning Legion.

Marfurion agrees that the Night Elves should not easily abandon Illidan's idea in the long run, and he asks Mavi to gather the other Elune Sisterhood volunteers. From then on, Mavi and other priestesses began to guard Illidan, and for this purpose Mavi was authorized to establish a new organization, the Caretakers. As the leader of the Order, Mavi was known as the Warden, and she later bestowed the title on a select group of Night Elves—warriors with great combat ability, tracking skills, and tenacity.

One night, Garrod suddenly and mysteriously disappeared. Mavi was surprised and saddened because he didn't say goodbye to her. In his absence, the caretaker became Mavi's sole reliance. Thousands of years passed, and she gradually made the caretaker her home.

Ever since Illidan was first imprisoned, the guards' priority had been to keep an eye on him. Over time, however, their duties expanded to include apprehending, detaining dangerous criminals, or, if necessary, arresting them multiple times.

Occasionally, these new missions require the Keeper to travel across the oceans to track and apprehend criminals.

Shortly before the outbreak of the Third War, Mavi left the stone prison in order to complete a similar mission. When she returned, she found that Illidan had disappeared and many of the guards had been killed. The ensuing investigation came to a terrible conclusion: Tyrande and her sentries attacked the Guards and then let Illidan go. To make matters worse, Illidan transforms into a demon, much to Mavi's concern.

Enraged, Mavi gathered all the remaining guards who could muster and began tracking down Illidan. They traced their way through the Ashenvale Forest, across the ocean, to the Broken Isles, and finally met him at the Tomb of Sargeras. By this time, Illidan had already obtained a powerful artifact: the Eye of Sargeras.

Illidan had not forgotten his long imprisonment, but instead of learning any lessons, Illidan began to resent Mavi for guarding him. He used the power of the Eye of Sargeras to cause the tomb to collapse, allowing the sea to flood in and encircle the Keepers. The guards were killed, but Mavi was the only one who survived, vowing revenge for the death of her sisters. With this surprise attack, Illidan killed all of Mavi's sisters. Mavi returned to the camp covered in pain and sent a messenger to find Malfurion, informing him that Illidan had escaped with dangerous magic.

In the books, Malfurion Fury and Tyrande quickly arrive in the Broken Isles to help Mavi defeat Illidan's Naga forces, but Illidan escapes to Lordaeron. Although Mavi is grateful for the rescue, she blames Tyrande for letting Illidan go, killing all the guards.

As Malfurion communicates with the land, he discovers his brother's whereabouts, and Mavi and Tyrande continue their search for Illidan, where they encounter Kael'thas Sunstrider, the prince of the Blood Elves. The prince is leading his subjects to safety. Mavi and Tyrande agreed to accompany him and protect them from the Scourge Legion. In return, the prince and the blood elves will assist them in finding Illidan's whereabouts.

The Scourge ambushed them at the Arivas River. Confident that the moon god would protect her, Tyrande stands on the bridge and casts her magic on the undead to protect the blood elves from evacuating. But the bridge suddenly collapsed, and Tyrande fell into the river and disappeared without a trace.

Mavi didn't want to waste precious time looking for Tyrande, as Illidan was still at large. So, with the help of the Blood Elves, Mavi continued her search for Illidan. Eventually, they meet Malfurion.

Malfurion's love for Tyrande for thousands of years is well known. As intelligent as he was, Mavi had never doubted, she knew that telling him the truth would only be a waste of time. Instead of hunting down Illidan, he's the danger to the whole world.

Mavi then told Malfurion that Tyrande had been killed by the Scourge. She blames Illidan for killing Tyrande. To Mavi's relief, the thirst for revenge reinvigorates the grieving Malfurion, just like Mavi herself. Illidan was to pay the blood debt he had bought.

Soon, Mavi, Malfurion, and Blood Elves besieged Illidan. He and Naga are using the Eye of Sargeras to cast magic, a spell that can tear an entire planet in half. When his magic was interrupted, Illidan began his protests and defenses of his innocence, but Mavi did not listen. She sentenced him to death on the spot and prepared to carry him out immediately.

Unfortunately, Tyrande's fate suddenly had a glimmer of hope at that moment. When Kyle reveals the truth, Illidan slyly offers that he can help rescue Tyrande. Malfurion could not refuse the help of Naga and their evil master, and he took all his worries and anger out on Mavi instead of Illidan. He summoned Rootbeard from underground, tied her tightly, and went with Illidan to find Tyrande.

Mavi escaped from the tightly entangled plants and gathered the last remaining warriors, which took long enough for Illidan to rescue Tyrande. When she arrived, she witnessed Malfurion and Tyrande bidding Illidan farewell.

They want to let him go!

He is an innocent demon who spreads depravity and madness among the beasts of the forest, and nearly brings Azeroth to the brink of no return. Garrod gave Malfurion the responsibility for disposing of Illidan, but he spared the demon because he had saved Tyrande's life.

It was clear that Malfurion felt that Illidan had paid the blood debt he had had, but Mavi disagreed. The Keepers are gone, betrayed by their own leaders. If the leaders were not willing to pay for their blood, then, in the name of the moon god, Mavi was determined to do it herself.

So, when Illidan slammed open a portal and stepped in, Mavi and her warriors followed without hesitation. Because she knew that Illidan was very reluctant to take his life and would never risk it.

No forgiveness, no compromise!

Emerging from the portal, Mavi and her warriors find themselves on a shattered planet in the Outlands. They soon discovered that Illidan was the only one in the Outlands, and that he had left the Naga servants behind in Azeroth. Outnumbered, Illidan discovers that his own evil forces are powerless against cold weapons, and he is easily arrested.

Everything goes too smoothly when Mavi is attacked just as she returns to her base with a caged demon. Naga arrives in the Outlands, bringing with them new allies: the same Blood Elves that Mavi once helped fight against the Scourge Legion. Mavi and the warriors confronted Naga and their rebellious Blood Elf allies, but the new coalition was too numerous and they were defeated. Naga and the Blood Elves recapture Illidan and set him free.

Illidan and his allies had little contact with Azeroth.

His brief reappearance in Azeroth and his defeat by Arceth Minechel are well known, but Mavi's ultimate fate is unknown. Since tracking Illidan to the Outlands, she and her companions have never been seen in Azeroth. Given her obsessive hatred for Illidan, his presence was clearly a bad omen for her. Perhaps she is dead, dead on her path to revenge.

However, soon after, Mavi Shadowsong was found in a prison in the Outlands, where she had been captured by Illidan and his allies while hunting for Illidan in the Outlands, and was thus imprisoned in a secret prison outside the Dark Temple, guarded by a group of good-natured Greytongue Oaths. Later, the Blood Elves left Illidan because Illidan couldn't satisfy their thirst for magic, and Illidan transferred Naga away from his side, giving Mavi a chance to fight back.

Eventually, Mavi and Akama joined forces to defeat Illidan and kill him, and after fulfilling her long-cherished wish for revenge, Mavi left alone in the shadows of the temple.

And the Illidares sent by Illidan collided directly with Mavi, who defeated Illidan, after retrieving the Keystone from Marton and returning to Azeroth. As a result, when the Illidares were about to go on a killing spree to avenge their "master", they forgot that Mavi was the one who could go head-to-head with Illidan, and how could they be her opponents with just the newborn Illidare?

As a result, all of them were defeated and imprisoned in the Watchman's Cave.

This is the place where the watchmen used to hold the powerful prisoners, and the newly added guards have turned this place into a steel fortress. There are countless enchantments and traps inside, and even the caretaker himself, if it is not for his familiar area, he may be attacked by the trap or even die.

And there are a lot of powerful demons imprisoned in it.

For example, the Inquisitor Torrum, perhaps the most mysterious and terrifying of all the evil creatures in the service of the Burning Legion is the hooded Inquisitor. Montolum will be unleashed after the Burning Legion's first wave of attacks on the Watcher's Cave. In the future, he wanders through the halls of the caverns, his sharp gaze searching the shadows for vital secrets. Even the other demons shy away from him.

Glazer, like many of his own demons, is capable of converging his gaze into a powerful weapon against his enemies. The Warden found that reflecting the magic emitted by the creature back to itself would weaken it. They took advantage of this to trap this demon and keep it in a prison made of mirrors. But with the next invasion of the Burning Legion, it may not be long since they could hold it in.

Then there's Ashgorm, one of Ragnaros' lieutenants who set fire to the forests of Kalimdor before the watchers manage to imprison him. The Watchers were unable to completely eliminate Ashgorm, so they locked him in an ice prison. Unfortunately, the future invasion of the Burning Legion has weakened the frozen Ashgorm's countermeasures for years, and he will be able to break free from the ice again, causing major problems for anyone who wants to imprison him again.

But these things are not going to happen yet, and Mavi Shadowsong walks up to the Watcher's Island, sees the gate of the Watcher's Cave in the distance, and walks forward. As she walked, she looked at one of her men, a Night Elf named Kodana.
