Chapter XXXIII
Ambrera North American Headquarters, Long Island, Brooklyn, New York
The 112-metre-tall Ambrera Tower was built in 1986 and served as Ambrera's world headquarters from its inception until 2010. But in 2010, when Ambrera's Paris headquarters was built, Ambrera's headquarters moved to the World Health Building (a very ironic name) in the heart of Paris. Since then, there has been no high-level meeting at headquarters in New York. But today is clearly different.
On the 44th floor of the building, a depressing meeting was taking place in a large conference room.
"Based on what we have learned from satellite reconnaissance and ground perimeter observations, as well as what we know about the T virus, the Public Health Council believes that this incident has come to an end and that the virus concentration has fallen below the transmission limit." A woman in brown office clothes said as she stood in front of a large screen.
"Is this the unanimous opinion of the Public Health Council?" The woman sitting at one end of the conference table, dressed in an all-white suit with blue eyes, asked. When he asked, his tone was cold.
"Madam Vice-President, although it is not the opinion of the Board of Directors, most of the Directors believe that the accident has been adequately handled." The woman who was making the report replied cautiously.
The vice chairman in her mouth didn't say anything, sneered and then wrote something in the notebook.
The vice chairman's performance overwhelmed the rest of the room, and everyone looked at Ozwell Spencer, the chairman of Ambrera's board of directors, who had remained silent until now.
Spencer didn't seem to notice anything unusual, still looking down at the report in his hand. After a while, he said, "What? Is the report finished? β
"Yes! Chairman! The woman who made the report nodded and said.
Putting down the report in his hand, Spencer looked up at the vice chairman directly across from him. It just so happened that the vice chairman was also looking at him at this time, the difference was that Spencer was not kind and vice chairman was smiling.
"Now that you're done with your report, go back to your seat." Looking away from the vice-chairman, Spencer said to the woman.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this accident is a huge warning for us! We should take good care of the high-risk items in the scientific research institutions! We want to ... As the woman returned to her seat, Spencer began, but the door suddenly opened in the middle of the conversation.
Spencer looked towards the door, and it was his student Wesker walking in. Wesker walked up to Spencer without any hesitation, lowered his head and whispered in his ear, "Teacher, we just got the news from the White House that Morgan Lansdale has been appointed chairman of the newly formed federal bio-chemical counter-terrorism committee. This organization will be working with the Department of Health to verify all of our branches in the United States! β
Spencer looked at his student in disbelief. Ambrera is a defense enterprise, and if it is to be investigated, the military will also investigate, how can it be that what committee and the Ministry of Health will verify it?! He thought.
Without giving him more time to think, Wesker continued. "General Ivy Isana has asked to speak to you soon!"
"You go back and reply to General Isana. I'll call her back in the afternoon to explain all this, now you go out first, we're having a high-level meeting! After thinking for a moment, Spencer said to Wesker. Wesker nodded and left.
"Everyone. I have bad news for you. Spencer paused and looked at the other people's expressions. Everyone else had a curious expression, but only the faint smile of the vice chairman was so piercing. "A newly formed commission and the Department of Health will conduct inspections of our institutions in the United States."
After that, the conference room began to be noisy, and everyone thought it was incredible. He coughed twice and waited until the room was quiet again. Spencer continued.
"Although, we all know that Oba doesn't like Ambrera President Ma. But unexpectedly, with less than three months left in his term, he still cast a shadow on us. β
"Your Excellency, I cannot agree with you. Oba President Ma has always supported Ambrera, and don't forget that if it weren't for Oba President Ma urging, we wouldn't be able to enter Asia's largest market. After Spencer finished speaking, the vice chairman retorted directly.
If the vice chairman's sneer just now only made the others feel a little nervous, now the conversation between the two made the blood of the others seem to freeze, and no one dares to say a word and make a move.
"Ms. Rockefeller, don't forget that you are the Vice Chairman of Ambrera's Board of Directors. His Excellency the President's actions are clearly detrimental to the interests of the company! Spencer said after staring at the vice chairman for a long time.
"Mr. Spencer! I'm the opposite of what you think. The vice chair said.
"Then please give your opinion." Spencer made a gesture of please.
"I think the company is moving down the wrong path. We devote a lot of resources to the research and development of biological weapons, but these ... Forehead... Flashy weapons did not bring us a corresponding profit! Glancing around, she continued, "We should turn our attention back to pharmaceutical and medical device production, which are obviously more profitable. β
"You should be aware that Ambrera's rapid expansion is being carried out with the support of the military, right?" Spencer asked.
"Now we don't need to expand! And I don't think even if we're not developing biological weapons for the military, the military can't do anything to us. The Vice-Chair said affirmatively.
"Ha, ha, ha," Spencer smiled slightly.
"It's a pity that you're not the patriarch of the Rockefeller family. You are just the Rockefeller family's representative on the Ambrera Board of Directors. Spencer said, "Why don't we have a general meeting of the board of directors and everyone votes?" β
βγγγβ The vice-chair fell silent because she knew that the board would not pass by abandoning the proposal to develop a biological weapon.
"Ma'am, it's 8:27 a.m. If you don't set off, you won't be able to make it to the World Pharma Congress in Paris. Looking at his watch, Spencer said softly.
Looking at his watch, the vice chairman tidied up his things without saying a word, and then left the conference room directly.
"Ladies and gentlemen, that's all for today's meeting. After you go back, you must cooperate with the government agency to verify it. After the vice chairman left, Spencer said to the crowd. One by one, the crowd left, and after the last man left, Wesker walked in.
"Teacher, I saw that the vice chairman just walked out with an unkind face." Wesker looked at his teacher and whispered.
βson of bitchοΌβ Spencer scolded, and Wesker had barely seen his teacher explode, "What kind of thing is she?!" It's just that he has such a high position by virtue of the Rockefeller bloodline! Ambrera is my brainchild! She dared to point fingers! β
"Teacher, otherwise... We? As he spoke, Wesker made a killing motion.
"Nope! No way! We can't go head-on with the Rockefellers! Spencer said.
"But we can do that... After thinking for a moment, Spencer saidγγγγγγ
