Chapter 3: Determination (10)

The Poria Shrine Maiden spoke. Her voice was not loud, but it was clear and firm: "Nasas, please stand up." I want to thank you on behalf of the Immortal and the inhabitants of the Isle of Tears for the perfect execution of his orders to save unarmed women, children, and women from slaughter. I want to thank you as Long Ran's wife and as Sha Luo's mother, who risked your life to join them, and would rather lose an eye than know their safety. Finally, I would like to apologize to you on behalf of my daughter, Saraka. Your strength is much higher than hers, and she attacks you without saying anything, and not only do you not fight back, but you also take a punch from her. Please consider her grief at the moment and forgive her for her reckless behavior. ”

Nasas stood up from the steps, bowed deeply to the Poria Shrine Maiden, and then turned to face Saraga, "Miss Kari, your father is a revered leader. It would be my glory to die with him. But the gods let me live, probably because I could do something else. ”

Saraga tilted his head to the side and didn't look at him, nor did he speak. She couldn't apologize at this point.

Then Nasas said to Camilla, "Lord of the Thousand Eyes, the road to the Bloodthirsty Forest has been cleared, and the carriages and horses for the soldiers are ready to set out. ”

Akari and her mother walked back to the bodies of her father and brother. The two held hands tightly and kept the faces of their loved ones firmly in their hearts. Akari untied the dagger from his brother's waist, and his mother put away his father's rippling sword on the ground.

It's time to say goodbye.

On the way to the Bloodthirsty Forest, Sha Luo Hunt and his mother walked on either side of the carriage, holding the bodies of Long Ran and Sha Luo Raid to avoid the shaking caused by the bumps, as if they did not want to disturb the sleep of their loved ones.

Along the way, Sharojo discovers that despite the great changes that have just been undertaken, the inhabitants of God of War Island are not complaining or weeping, and they are all concentrating on the work at hand. There were quite a few people coming and going on the road, but it was clear that the crowd was in a certain order. The men leading the horses bowed their heads to make way for the convoy carrying the dead soldiers, and their horses carried large baskets containing weapons and armor collected from the battlefield. There were children sitting on the side of the road, with rags and whetstones at their feet, wiping the blood off their weapons and sharpening them again. Near the open area of the Weeping Castle were a few blacksmith shops, with the sound of hammers pounding and bellows beating, and stacks of freshly beaten horseshoes and bundles of new arrows lay out in the doorways.

With the two attacks from the Shadow Land, God of War Island is the front line, and it seems that everyone has already begun to prepare for the next attack.

Sha Luo also secretly clenched his fists.

The convoy walked past the Weeping Castle. This is the castle where the Windblade family, who guard the Isle of Wars, live.

Legend has it that a hundred years ago, during the battle of the Shadow Land, Thousand Eyes City fell, and the soldiers of God of War Island, who were waiting for reinforcements from the four islands, struggled to support in this castle for nearly a month. When reinforcements arrived, the soldiers in the fort did not open the gates. It turned out that they had piled the bodies of their dead comrades behind the gate to block the city gate, and there were so many of them that it would take a long time to remove them.

The legend of this Weeping Fort was told to Sha Luo Hunt by his father, who escaped from the disaster of the Hades family on Poseidon Island and came to the Isle of War, where his father's childhood was spent.

It's a magnificent stone building, and compared to the beautiful White Light Castle on Yakushin Island, the architects of Crying Fort apparently never considered whether anyone would think that the fortress was not aesthetically pleasing enough. Its grey walls were tall and wide, and beneath them was a wide, deep moat, the bottom of which was filled with sharpened wooden thorns of a man's height, over which those entering the castle had to pass over the parapets. There are many tall towers on top of the castle, and no matter what it is, if you want to get close to the castle, you will inevitably be discovered by the sentinels on the tower.

Sara looked up at the pointed towers high above the castle. His father once told Saraka that when he was a child, he used to stand on the tower on a clear day and look out to the west, and he could see the curved Great Wall of Light on the top of the Sighing Mountain in the distance, shining golden in the sun, and white clouds moving slowly on it.

Sharokari looked west. The sky is gray, the sun is invisible, the mountain of sighs is a dark and undulating outline, and the glorious Great Wall is invisible and difficult to see. She couldn't imagine how her father, who was still a teenager, could have watched the glorious Great Wall from the castle above her head more than twenty years ago, and expressed his amazement with shouts.

Because at this moment, her father's body was shaking in the carriage at her hand.

The convoy stopped at the edge of the bloodthirsty forest. This forest, along with the Weeping Fort to the east, guards the land gate behind it that leads to the interior of Isle of War.

The coachmen unloaded the wagons and led the horses back in line. They also had to go back to the Champ de Mars to bring the next batch of corpses.

By the wooden bridge leading to the Bloodthirsty Forest, stood a group of warriors in armor. They walked to the wooden cart laden with corpses, pulled it away, and lined up in a longitudinal convoy in front of the bridge. A tall sergeant stepped forward and reminded Sara and Poria to stand back.

Akari pulled her mother back and stopped about twenty paces from the bridge.

Under the bridge ahead, two soldiers worked together to push a wooden cart full of corpses onto the bridge, and the other two soldiers behind stood five paces away, each holding a long wooden stick with a wide thick wooden board inlaid at the top. The wooden bridge leading to the interior of the Bloodthirsty Forest was a downward slope, and the carts on the bridge rolled forward under the thrust, the wheels rattling against the wooden bridge.

Sara held his breath and listened.

Suddenly, the rattling sound disappeared without warning. It was the car that was going down the slope and had reached the end of the bridge and fell.

After two heartbeats, a rumbling sound came from the forest. At first it seemed like a looming thunder, but in an instant, the rumbling became louder and louder, as if thousands of horses were coming from the depths of the forest.

That's the Bloodthirsty Forest awakening!
