Chapter 569: Smuggling
Early morning.
Most of the city's people were still asleep, and almost as soon as the first rays of sunlight pierced through the curtains and hit his face, Eric opened his heavy eyelids.
The tip of the nose is filled with a faint fragrance, which is from the sleeping beauty who is still asleep next to her. Raven lay on his side, his white body curled up in the futon, his head unconsciously nestled in his arms. Eric sat up, and when he saw her lovely appearance, his heart moved slightly, and he leaned over her cheek and kissed her gently. Raven still hadn't woken up, but he moaned indistinctly, smiling sweetly.
Eric's mind fluttered for a moment, and he couldn't help himself. He shook his head, shook off his thoughts, got out of bed as quietly as he could, got dressed and left the bedroom.
He couldn't remember how the night had unfolded. Raven came to the watchtower yesterday evening, the two of them had a bite to eat, found an old movie to watch in the evening, and finally ...... Well, in the end he couldn't remember a little, but it seemed wonderful.
Eric came to the washroom and stood in front of the mirror on the sink. Through the mirror, he saw a young man with unkempt hair and listlessness, which he thought was even a little funny.
Today is the tenth day after being hit by an omega ray, and the situation seems to have worsened than the previous nine days. Eric doesn't know how many days he has left, but every good moment he has with Raven now seems to have turned into torture. He could feel the girl's dedication to him and her love, but he couldn't take responsibility for her, because he couldn't tell how long it would be before he had to leave.
He wasn't afraid of death per se, but the thought of Raven tormented him.
I don't know how long I stood in front of the sink, maybe an hour—maybe just a few minutes, until Raven walked in silently. Draped in a wide nightgown, she stood quietly in the doorway, not making a sound.
He never mentioned Omega to Raven, but no matter how much he tried to pretend nothing happened in front of her, he couldn't hide his deterioration. Raven undoubtedly found something, but as long as he didn't say anything about her, he didn't ask, and it had always been.
Eric took a deep breath, turned around, and smiled, "Good morning, didn't you wake me up?" ”
Raven smiled and shook his head, "No, I just woke up." ”
Eric walked to the window, looked at the golden light shining from the other side of the blue planet, and said, "Today looks like another good day." ”
He removed his toothbrush and toothpaste from the sink, and was unscrewing the toothpaste cap when his hand shook involuntarily and the whole toothpaste slipped off his fingertips.
Eric's heart jumped, but he saw that the falling toothpaste did not fall to the ground, but was eerily fixed in the air by a cloud of purple light.
Raven stepped forward and took the toothpaste and toothbrush, patiently smeared it for him, filled it with a glass of water, attentive as if a young mother was taking care of an innocent child, and then tilted his head and said, "I can help you." ”
Eric's face flushed slightly, and he hurriedly took it from her hand, and said, "Ahaha, I just thought about things just now, and my hand slipped for a while...... I'm fine, haha. "Imagine Raven brushing his teeth...... The scene is so beautiful.
Raven stepped aside, stopped talking, and began to wash himself. But even if neither of them said it, their hearts were like mirrors - with Eric's current reflex nerves, how could there be such a thing as "distraction and hand slipping"? This is a sign that the erosion of the Omega effect has brought his body to the limit.
The atmosphere grew subtly heavy, and the two didn't speak again for a while, until Eric's Justice League liaison rang.
Eric pulled out his liaison, glanced at the screen, snorted with a foamy mouth, and said indistinctly, "These guys are really busy, and they actually call me to go for such a trivial matter." ”
"What's the matter?" Raven asked.
"A slightly larger international smuggling syndicate." Eric was completely unmotivated, and said, "It's neither an alien invasion nor the end of the world, so it doesn't sound like my thing." ”
After a pause, he turned to say, "But it's true that you don't have much to do if you stay here all the time, so you might as well go around." Do you have time to hang out with me after breakfast? ”
Raven nodded, "Hmm." ”
So the two of them quickly settled breakfast, and then headed straight for the mission.
According to the mission instructions issued by the Alliance, this is just a raid against a smuggling syndicate. Batman has clues about one of their bases in Brazil, and there is evidence that a shipment of important goods was shipped out of Gotham to Brazil, but it is still unknown what the exact cargo is.
Normally, this kind of task is not Eric's turn, but the rest of the alliance is really busy these days, and he is the only one who is still idle, so he has to do it.
According to the mission instructions, the two found the stronghold in Brazil without much effort. To tell the truth, this is really not difficult, the so-called smuggling gang has armed a coastal warehouse to the teeth, and there are gangsters with guns everywhere outside, just like they are afraid that people will not know that they have ghosts here.
The raid process was also uneventful, and there was really nothing to say. The rough idea was that the two of them landed with a swagger, and the gangsters panicked and showed off their guns to pour fire, not to mention two more grenades or something, but to Eric it was only a tickle at best. Raven raised his arms and commanded several empty containers to fly up on their own, smashing heavily into the crowd of gangsters, and the gangsters immediately became honest and expressed their willingness to disarm and surrender.
From the landing of the two to the surrender of the last gangster, the whole process took only three to five minutes. If you compare this to a game, the difficulty level is definitely super easy.
"Alright, let's see what good stuff you've all stolen from Gotham."
Eric said, using the green light from the simulated green light ring to transform into a huge palm, holding a cargo box in front of him, and then the green light changed into the shape of a hydraulic shears, and the lock was cut open with a "click".
The cargo door creaked open, and Eric and Raven stepped inside. With the movement of his fingers, Raven lifted a layer of cloth covering the goods out of thin air, revealing several rows of neatly stacked metal boxes.
Eric frowned and read the label on the box: "'Wayne Technology'? Good guys, these guys look like they've stolen some pretty good stuff. ”
