Chapter 33: The Enemies of the Hell Squad
Pandora is an extremely dangerous planet, so life here has become extremely difficult, and as the only stronghold of mankind, the Gates of Hell have many functions, crowding is an important feature here, and the staff has to work in many semi-open areas, but now, if someone observes carefully, he will realize that some changes are taking place in this base, some are obvious and some are just the opposite, but they have the same characteristics, Almost all of them are related to the newcomers of the two teams: the famous political commissar Guo Bo and his men have been given a completely enclosed exclusive area in the hangar. The research team led by Dr. Su was also given an independent laboratory that was off-limits to others.
Dr. Augustine, who made the decision, claimed that Dr. Su's team needed to complete a very important special experiment that required strict secrecy, and out of respect for her scholarship and leadership, the scientists who had to endure the suddenly more crowded work area did not protest much, but if someone entered Dr. Su's exclusive area or obtained video images inside, then a large-scale protest was inevitable.
Dr. Su's research team did not conduct any studies. The neatly arranged equipment, tables and chairs were set aside, and the entire team was doing things that had nothing to do with the study: meditation, handstands, punches into the air, a pointy-eared woman with a katana fighting a fierce battle with a woman with a short sword and a round shield, a few apparently bored guys on the side, busy shouting and cheering, and a black panther who knows where it came from chasing a leather ball all over the room.
Aaron. When Su walked into the laboratory, he saw a circus-like scene.
The paladin's face immediately fell. He slammed the door of the laboratory and scolded sternly, "What are you doing? Worried that people at this base don't know we're not researchers? β
The members of the Sapphire Squad all stopped, the two women put away their weapons, and the figure of the black panther quickly disappeared.
"Nick, bring me back." Sue called.
The panther reappeared, and then became a young black man with nothing on him. The person next to him hurriedly threw over a robe.
Sue glared at him angrily. "I've said it many times, don't be shaped."
The black man lowered his head, avoiding his gaze, and whispered, "Aaron, I'm a druidβ"
Sue interrupted him impatiently. "Yes, you're a druid, but remember, we're in a semi-military base, not a nature reserve, a beast that broke in? Every guard who sees you will shoot at you. And where did Pandora get the Black Panther? β
"But I can't be an animal on this planet."
"That will only make you die faster!" Sue raised her voice, "Hell, Nick, have you become intellect like a beast too?" β
"It's racism, Aaron." The blacks shouted in protest.
Sue's voice continued to rise: "Don't give me this set, it won't work-"
"Aaron!" The pointy-eared woman called out to him, and almost at the same time, the woman who had just fought with her pulled the black man aside, interrupting the argument between the two.
"We'll pay attention to it later." The pointy-eared woman continued, directing the conversation away, "You followed Dr. Augustin to see Severidge, and what happened?" β
That's what the others were concerned about, and they all gathered around, except for the black man, who pricked up his ears.
Sue's expression became even more ugly, and he sighed heavily: "It's bad." β
"How bad is it?"
"The Hell Squad is there too."
"You had a conflict with them?"
"No, but they pretty much controlled Severidge."
"Is that the psyker?" The members of the Sapphire Squad also remembered the captain of their enemy and began to discuss, "How strong is he?" β
Aaron gestured to them to be quiet. "It's not just the psyker." He told them, "There's also a computer-savvy guy in Hellsquad who forged a directive from the RDA's top management to convince Severidge that they were the RDA's counter-insurgency experts here, and that they had the authority to take over the base with Quaritch in the event of a very emergency." So the current situation is that although Severidge is still the director here, he can neither nor dare to interfere too much in the actions of the Hell Squad, and we can't expect him to play any role. β
There was another buzz. Even the most stupid people can realize that their enemies are already in an advantageous position at this base.
"What about Dr. Augustine?" The pointy-eared woman asked with concern, "And the Avatar plan?" β
"Dr. Augustin has a few days left to continue with Project Avatar, and the captain of the Hell Squad has promised not to leave the base in the meantime." After a pause, the paladin added, "I think it's a conspiracy. β
"He may need time to modify and debug weapons." The team member who had practiced one-handed handstand before picked up on his words, "I got some information, Quaritch sent four attack planes and three mechs along with a large pile of weapons and ammunition to the private room he had prepared for the Hell team. β
"There were exactly seven of them." Another member of the team said.
"So there are four members of the Hell squad who know how to fly attack planes? That's too bad. With two examples, the rest of the team began to babble again, "We can't deal with air targets." β
"Then let the Ne'vi deal with them."
"Neither can the Na'vi, without the herd sent by Eva, they will only be slaughtered by the security forces."
"The herd will do too."
"Unless you can get the herd to go to war early. Don't forget, not only do we have to deal with Hell Squad and Quaritch, but we also have to protect Jack. β
"That's right, Jack is our biggest trouble, whether it's his body or his avatar, just an attack plane can kill him."
"So what do you think should be done?"
"I don't know ......"
"Enough!" Su shouted, quieting everyone down again, "These questions can be left to worry about later, and now we should worry about ourselves." Hell Squad has been supported by Quarridge, and Severidge has been pushed aside again, and it will become very dangerous if we continue to stay at this base. β
"They can't attack us yet, and it's ten hours before the Lord God's ban on engagement expires." "If Jaime guesses correctly, they're busy modifying and tuning their weapons, I think we have a chance to get ahead of them......"
"We don't have a chance, Joanna." The paladin shook his head pessimistically and reminded: "The Hell Squad doesn't have to do it themselves, they can let Quaritch keep an eye on us and find an excuse to restrict our activity area, as long as we make the slightest move, or show our own feet, we will have to fight the guards of the entire base." β
That's the main reason for his frustration: as soon as someone breaks in and sees what's going on in the lab, Sapphire Squad has to choose between killing him or fighting a large number of guards, none of which he wants to see.
"Besides," he sighed inwardly, "there is a psyker there, who will be aware of us as soon as we come near." β
"I doubt he's really that powerful." Suanna retorted, "We entered here at the same time as them, which means that even if they are stronger than us, they don't have a clear advantage. And we have two newcomers, which will lower the overall rating of the squad. β
"I agree." The woman she was fighting agreed, "A psyker, a computer whiz, and four veterans who know how to fly attack planes, where did they get the bonus points?" β
"None of this is a problem, ladies." The paladin said his opinion without reservation, "The strengthening of the Hell Squad is undoubtedly more inclined to the use of modern military equipment, and there is no need to strengthen special bloodlines and skills, and in this world, their enhancement is very advantageous, weapons are readily available, and the power is huge, but we use up many bonus points just by strengthening special bloodlines and skills, plus weapons, the originally small gap is magnified, or we are the side with the advantage, but we just happen to encounter a bad world." β
"This should be the case when the Lord God chooses the warring teams and the battlefield world." Joanna was still not convinced.
Someone was convinced, thoughβthe team member named James was the first. "To be honest, none of us know how the Lord God chooses the warring teams and the battlefield world."
And then there are the blacks. "And we're not alone, the Na'vi and Eva are our allies. The forces of nature are far more powerful than a couple of attack aircraft. β
"But we haven't established contact with our allies yet."
"So we have to connect with the Na'vi as soon as possible." "Even if we can't do that, we'll evacuate the base immediately." Act now, before the people of Quaritch stare at us, or it will be too late. β
"How?" Joanna asked.
The question stumped the Paladinβhe had just thought about the dangerous situation of the Sapphire Squad, and had not yet had time to think about how to get out of it.
And evacuating the base is no easy feat: to defend against Na'vi and wildlife, Hell's Gate has a double fence and a large number of sensors, some of which are connected to automatic weapons, plus automatic machine guns installed on high places, so that Na'vi and wildlife can't break in, and neither can the people of the base.
Su knew very well that he would not be able to find a way in a short period of time.
But everyone was waiting for an answer, and all he could tell them was the truth: "I need a little time to think about it." β
Although a little disappointed, the members of the Sapphire Squad accepted it.
"We'll use that time to prepare." Joanna said.
It seems that this is the only way to go. Su thought about it, and her mood became extremely heavy.
