Chapter 403: Joining the Justice League
"What the hell have you been up to lately, Luther?" Someone in the darkness asked, "We've all heard about each other, and you've rejected all requests for cooperation lately, and you've stopped some of your long-term equipment supply...... You know that's a breach of contract, right? β
Luthor snorted, seemingly in acknowledgement.
"What the hell are you thinking?" Someone else said, "You're smart, you're a very intelligent personβwe all know that." But let's be honest, you don't look like a smart person lately. β
Luther laughed.
"Really? I'm sorry about that. He said nonchalantly and insincerely.
"We're here that we think you'd better explain." This time it was a diminutive man sitting in the middle, who sounded like an old man from his old voice.
Although the old man was small in stature, he seemed to be the best bully in the whole room, but in fact no one dared to underestimate him. Because this little old man is the representative sent by Hydra, one of the largest secret organizations in the world, and every word he says here represents their organization, and no one will want to provoke them for no reason.
"As it happens, I have a question that I want you to explain," Luthor asked lightly, "You have eyeliner in the Aegis, is that right?" β
The old man of Hydra laughed dryly, "Who knows? Even if there is, why do you think I'm telling you about this S.H.I.E.L.D. chief? β
This meeting was immediately very interesting - the Hydra cadre and the S.H.I.E.L.D. director sat face-to-face at a table, and asked each other directly if they had planted spies under their hands, which may be the first time in the years of Aegis and Hydra's open and secret fight.
"What the hell are you thinking, Luther?" Someone else asked, "You don't really think of yourself as an Aegis, do you?" Are you really planning to change careers and work for the government from now on? β
"I think that's the case." The old man of Hydra said coldly, "Yesterday the Avengers attacked one of our highest-security strongholds without warning, Nick Fury has rarely discovered our stronghold for so many years in power, and we lost such a stronghold not long after you took office. Would you believe me if I were to say I didn't know anything about it? β
"Eighty percent of them don't believe." Luther said in a calm tone.
The old man was so angry by his attitude that he could barely speak, so he stood up and shouted, "Lex Luthor, do you really think that we Hydra are afraid of you?" β
"Calm down." Someone reminded, "Forgot the rules? Private grievances are resolved by themselves, the 'center' is watching at all times, and any armed conflict is not allowed when attending the meeting. β
The old man of Hydra stood there for a long time, and finally sat back without saying a word. It seems that even for Hydra, the existence known as the "Nexus" is equally awe-inspiring.
Luthor chuckled again, and spoke again: "Look at you, each of you already has so much power in your hands, but you are still pursuing it endlessly. What a sad life, destined to end meaninglessly, is simply the most typical embodiment of pathetic human beings. β
The faces of everyone present changed suddenly, and one of them asked directly, "Do you know what you're talking about, Luther?" β
"Yes."
Answering faintly, Lex Luthor stood up and swaggered to the door, leaving the dimly lit room.
Justice League, Watchtower.
It seems that while everyone thought Eric was dead, he still had access to the watchtower. When Eric returns to the watchtower again, it is the Flash who is on duty. One can imagine how pleasantly surprised he was when he saw Eric appear.
"Eric?" The Flash flickered in front of Eric like a ghost, and asked in surprise, "Is it really you?" β
Eric smiled, "It's like a fake." β
"But...... How so? Where did you go after that day? β
"That's a long story, I'm going to another world for a spin." "But it doesn't matter, what matters is that I'm back." β
"Well, that's great. I need to call everyone ......"
As he spoke, The Flash had already flashed back to the console and started the operation, ready to notify the other members of the Justice League.
"Ah, remember to ask me by the way," Eric stepped forward and added, "Justice League...... Are there any more slots? β
The Tower's teleportation device is indeed quite convenient, and verified members of the Justice League can be locked by this teleportation system in most locations on Earth, and can be teleported back to the Tower at any time. In just over twenty minutes, all members of the Justice League were teleported back to the watchtower from their respective cities.
Everyone rightfully expressed surprise that Eric was still alive and welcomed him back, with the exception of Batman. I don't know if it's because he was the way he is, and although he seems surprised, he is very indifferent to Eric's return.
When Eric offered to officially join the Justice League, everyone else welcomed it. This does sound reasonable, after all, Eric is not what he used to be now, since the final battle with Amozhuo, his identity has been revealed, he has been published in newspaper headlines and magazines, and he is considered a celebrity. Under such circumstances, it is no longer possible for him to continue to live like an ordinary person, and his decision to join the Justice League seems to be a logical decision.
Most of the people welcomed it, but it was Batman.
"I'm against it." He said coldly.
Superman frowned and asked, "Why?" β
"I don't trust him." Batman said succinctly.
"What's wrong with you?" Green Lantern asked, "We reserved a place for him when we first formed it, and you didn't say anything against it at the time. β
"Because I still trusted him then." Batman said, meeting Eric's eyes for a moment and asking, "What happened to you?" β
"Nothing." Eric met his gaze without fear and said lightly, "I am who I am." β
The two kept staring at each other for a few seconds, and the atmosphere gradually became a little awkward, until Superman stopped between the two.
"The minority obeys the majority, we have five votes here, you can reserve your opinion, Batman." Superhuman, "After all, even you can't always be right." β
Batman frowned, turned his back and walked away, leaving one last word.
"But I do most of the time."
