Chapter 606: A Deal with the Devil
The heat is really unbearable.
That was the first thought that popped into Raven's mind as he opened his eyes leisurely. Her head was still a little swollen, and she struggled to remember for a moment before she remembered that she had given her life to block an omega ray from Darkseid for Eric. At first, she thought that she might die and go to hell, but remembering that even the souls of those killed by Omega would perish, she immediately refuted this suspicion.
Could it be that I'm still alive?
She struggled to sit up, only to find herself lying in a translucent magical shroud, surrounded by a world of utter heat. The sight of billowing lava rolling beneath her feet, pillars of fire leaping like dragons from the red-hot rocks, made her wonder if she was in hell again.
"Are you awake?"
A muddy, domineering voice sounded from behind her, almost startling her. Raven turned around and saw two pairs of yellow eyes looking at him through the transparent cover. It was a giant demon 100 meters tall, with creepy horns and fangs baring from the corners of its mouth. As far as she knew, no one seemed to look so obnoxious except for her hateful father.
"Well, father, you're still alive, that's a ...... Frustrating. Raven touched his slightly hot forehead and said, "So, are you here to take advantage of the fire?" I guess I must have used too much force against Darkseid to bring you into this world, right? β
The Lord of the Three Palaces snorted disdainfully and said, "Although I swear that one day I will go back to Earth to find you and take revenge on your little boyfriend on Earth, I also don't like that domineering new god. And although you are very annoying, you are my daughter no matter what, and your life belongs to me, and I will not allow anyone to dare to kill my daughter without my consent. β
Raven was stunned for a moment, and then said, "Well, although your words are as annoying as ever, they sound ...... You saved me? β
Sannomiya glanced at his tiny daughter with his four eyes, and only snorted, which counted as acquiescence.
"Well, just this once, thank you, father."
Sannomiya's eyelids moved, as if he was not used to his daughter to thank him so sincerely, and after snorting, he said, "Don't thank you, I didn't do this for you." And that won't change anything - you're still an important pawn in my invasion of this dimension, and one day I'll make you pay for what happened last time! β
Raven didn't seem to take his threat to heart at all, and asked anxiously, "What about Eric?" After I'm gone...... How is he? β
"The boy? Die early! Sannomiya seemed very unhappy that his demonstration had been ignored, and with a wave of his hand, a projection-like image appeared in front of the two of them, just in time to release the scene of Eric bursting out to attack Darkseid with all his might after Raven disappeared, and was finally engulfed by the omega rays.
Raven's body shook the moment he saw this picture, but he calmed down very quickly and said, "No, you're lying, he's still alive, right?" β
"Why are you so sure?"
"Because you said you would one day take revenge on the two of us." "That means you know he's alive, right?" β
Sannomiya laughed, "You make me appreciate you more, daughter." Maybe when that day comes, I'll be in a good mood and maybe I'll give you another chance to join my team. You're right, he's still alive. β
"Where?"
"Don't worry, daughter, although he is alive, he is in terrible condition."
Sannomiya said, and with a flip of his palm, the picture of the magic projection suddenly changed, turning into a pale blue space. The whole space is quite abstract, and the picture is vague and hazy, like a light veil constantly being swept by the breeze through the layers, and only a vague figure can be seen floating unconsciously in this blue space.
"That's ...... Eric? Raven asked, "But where is that?" β
Sannomiya said, "It's a dimension that even I haven't touched, or a mezzanine between dimensionsβto be exact. From the first time I saw him, I realized that this kid's soul is very special. The omega effect of the new god on Earth (referring to Darkseid) was supposed to wipe him out along with his soul, but it didn't seem to work very well for him. β
"Will Eric be okay then?"
Sannomiya glanced at his anxious daughter and snorted, "It's okay? After a slap in the face of omegas, do you want to be okay? Even I don't dare to say that I'll be completely fine. But he is still a fortune teller, his consciousness and life are in a half-dead state, and his soul is on the verge of dissipating, but there is still one last link left in this world to hold his soul together. β
Raven was stunned: "That's what you mean...... Me? β
Sannomiya glanced at her and said, "Otherwise, what other high-level life like my daughter would share her soul with a mortal?" β
He still looked displeased when he said this, and seemed to be quite angry at Raven's move to share the "High Souls" he had bestowed on the mortals of the human world.
Raven didn't care, just closed his eyes and focused on trying to sense the last remaining connection between her and Eric, but after a long time, he only frowned, and said, "No, his presence is too weak for me to even sense him." β
She gritted her teeth and hesitated for a while, before she finally decided to ask Sannomiya for help: "Can you help me bring him back?" β
Sannomiya snorted, "Do you think I have any reason to do that?" β
"If you help me, I can promise you anything." Raven said, "That includes coming back to you and being the vanguard of your attacks on other dimensions. β
Hearing her assurances without hesitation, Sannomiya did not show the slightest joy, but said rather unhappily: "Is this your determination?" Are you willing to give this to this level for this humanity? β
After snorting, Sannomiya said, "That's a pity, his soul and existence are on the verge of disappearing, wandering outside the dimension, even I can't bring him back." β
Raven froze, as if he couldn't accept this fact for a moment. She stood there dumbfounded, looking at Eric's figure in the magical projection, and involuntarily stretched out her hand to the vague shadow, but it seemed to be separated by the end of the world.
Is there really nothing that can be done?
No, it's not time to give up yet, and there's a last resort.
"Father," Raven whispered suddenly, "if I could lock down the location of the dimension where Eric is...... Can you send me there? β
"How, what do you want to ......"
"If I can be there in person, maybe I can hold his soul and bring him back into the world."
Sannomiya frowned, stared at her for a long time, and said, "But it's a dimensional gap that even I haven't touched, and that space may destroy your physical body or even cause unimaginable damage, or you won't even be able to get back from there." β
"It doesn't matter." Raven insisted, "If I can't bring him back, then I won't find any other motivation to live." When you can't find anyone to take revenge, you'll be very lonely, right? β
Sannomiya sighed heavily: "Why do I have such a stupid daughter in Sannomiya?" Well, if you really decide, it's up to you. But remember, you all owe me a great favor after this time, and sooner or later, you will pay it back. β
Revan nodded slightly, then shifted his gaze back to Eric in the image, muttering, "Wait, Eric, I'll be ...... soon I'll pick you up. β
