Chapter 18 Fragile Biogun Larvae
At the landing spacecraft lab, members of the YXRJH team sit in front of the console. Inside the heavy glass wall, a dexterous robotic hand placed a brown bio-gun egg onto the bench. The egg was the size of an ostrich egg, covered in layers of scales.
"Let's get started." In the three-dimensional display screen, Professor Cheng said.
"Okay, let's take a look at it from the outside, the surface image." Liu Yiting operated the computer.
The optical instrument begins to perform a 360-degree scan of the egg. The holographic 3D display immediately displays an image of the surface of the organism's gun egg. The scales are layered on top of each other. The tip of the egg has a circle of small red dots.
"Closer, closer. Stop. The top of the egg is enlarged.
"This should be a biosensor." Han Wei said.
"Test the breath we just collected." Liu Yiting said.
The manipulator turned, and a metal tubular instrument was aimed at the egg.
"Liu Yiting's exhaled gas sample, Han Wei's exhaled gas sample... (Computer sounds)
Gas samples are ejected one by one. The eggs of the bio-gun did not react in the slightest. As Liu Yiting expected. Since the basic amino acids of humans are different from those of life on the planet Gaia, humans are not in their evolutionary chain, and the eggs of the biogun cannot recognize the information of humans.
Liu Yiting turned her head to Li Jin beside her and said, "You haven't collected a gas sample yet." ”
"I'm human, just like you." Li Jin shrugged his shoulders and said half-jokingly. Everyone laughed.
"There's no information about us in its (bio-egg) repository. It doesn't recognize us, it doesn't react in any way. Li Jin said.
"X-rays." The manipulator turned again.
The image shows the inside of the biogun egg. The larvae are coiled inside the egg shell like a snake. From time to time, it will tremble slightly.
"Remove the upper shell of the biogun egg." Liu Yiting operated.
The laser scalpel on the manipulator makes a circular cut on the upper end of the biological gun egg, and after removing the cut part, the situation inside the biological gun egg is displayed on the display screen. The larvae are coiled in the egg shell, like slimy worms, and they appear very young and weak.
"Zoom in, zoom in, stop."
Everyone stared at the magnified image, and suddenly the alarm light on the console started flashing.
"What's wrong?" Liu Yiting began to operate the computer and wanted to know what was wrong.
"Alarm, experimental samples are losing their activity." (Computer sounds)
"What? The larvae begin to lose their biological activity. ”
"It's too fragile." Han Wei said: "Biogun larvae will gradually lose their biological activity after only 20 minutes of exposure to the air. It is so fragile that it is simply impossible to obtain viable tissue and genetically modify it. This means that it is impossible for a bio-gun to be genetically modified and parasitized into a human body. The worry in Liu Yiting's heart finally dissipated like fog.
"Keep collecting samples, keep researching, no matter how much time and effort it takes, we're going to do what we can, layer by layer, to uncover the biological mechanics of the biogun so that we can finally get it. Complete. Professor Cheng cut off the communication in frustration.
"Remove the biogun larvae from their egg shells. Perform layered dissection and tissue sectioning. Liu Yiting is still operating.
The manipulator clips the biogun larvae out of the egg shell. It was soft, sticky, and dripping with yellow slime, and it drooped straight down, completely dead.
