Chapter 1: The Shadow Smuggling Ship (1)

Next Chapter

Bill wakes up from his dream and everything changes.

He leaned against a rotting wooden plank, and the humid and stuffy warehouse was crowded with humans.

Mold is rampant, the dim and narrow space is filled with a fishy smell, and kerosene lamps hang on cracked wooden walls, and the light flickers and flickers.

"I'm still dreaming?"

He was in a trance, feeling stiff and trying to get up and move.

There was a sudden violent shaking, a noise came from overhead, and the frightened man immediately stared nervously upward.

Bill looked up as well, and a drop of water fell from the crack in the splint, hitting the corner of his mouth, salty and astringent, and the cold touch and the flickering oil lamp made him sober and realize that he was on board.

"It's not a dream, I seem to be ......."

"Let go, you little bastard, I found it first, hand it over!"

A hoarse and furious voice suddenly sounded in the cabin, and the man with sunken cheeks grabbed a girl by the hair and slammed her head to the ground, while the girl held a mouse in her hand, and the mouse screamed.

The people around them were indifferent, and seemed to have become accustomed to such things, but when they saw the mouse, the hungry people unconsciously swallowed their saliva and showed manic eyes.

The frenzied man trampled the girl to the ground, snapped her fingers one by one, and finally snatched the breathless rat and drew a dagger from his body to warn the others.

The men bowed their heads silently, and the girl covered her mouth in an effort not to cry.

The man quickly twisted the rat's head, sucked the rat's blood dry without hesitation, peeled the skin and gnawed on the bloody raw meat, and threw the bones on the board of the boat.

The stench and smell of blood were disgusting, and Bill likewise looked down to avoid the mad man's gaze, he was not a savior, and he definitely didn't want to mess with a madman who wouldn't even let go of mice!

The humid and stuffy environment and tension made Bill swallow his saliva unconsciously, and the pain of being cut by a knife faintly came from his throat, he remembered that he was supposed to enjoy his annual leave on the way abroad, why did he appear in the bottom warehouse like a stowaway?

"Why am I here? Who changed me into this tattered clothes? Where is this?"

"Damn, I wasn't kidnapped by pirates!"

Rummaging through the contents of his tattered coat, Bill hopes to find some food and water, or some clues as to why he's here.

He found a few coins issued by an unknown country, a few black metal balls, and a notebook with strange symbols drawn on them from the cloth bag tied to his waist.

Nothing of value.

Continuing to rummage, Bill found an old-fashioned openwork copper pocket watch in his close arms, the pocket watch was broken, but the inside of the pocket watch was clean, and the watch hand stopped at the zero position.

In the dim light, the clean glass reflected a bland but eerie face, and Bill was stunned, finally noticing that his hands were covered in blood, and his skin was unusually white.

Puff! Puff!

His heart began to beat faster, and he staggered to the oil lamp, and a clearer face appeared on the glass cover, long dry brown hair, sunken eye sockets, and tired face and stunned eyes!

Not the one Bill is most familiar with!

"Who are you?"

"It's not my body, I'm in big trouble!"

"Whew-whew-"

Bill bit himself hard, a huge pain came, he gasped for breath and tried to calm down, staggering to the door, he wanted to leave, but the door was locked from the outside.

In a panic, Bill frantically banged on the wooden door, but there was no response.

"Open the door, open the door, you brutes!"

The oppressive bottom warehouse was still deadly silent, no one wasting saliva on his actions, as if he already knew the doomed end, and Bill couldn't get out of here, so he could only lean against the door, just like the group of glazed eyes in front of him.

The sudden change made Bill panic.

Ignorant identities, irascible and crazy men, spaces full of despair, and ships that don't know where to go......

With no food, no fresh water, no items to identify, Bill's situation was far worse than he thought.

The dim warehouse couldn't see the change of time, and after I don't know how long it took, Bill's throat began to smoke, and he couldn't calm down to think about his situation, and even licked the corners of his chapped lips and looked at the gaps between the planks around him.

"No, Bill, you're different from them, stay sane, you can still hold back, don't look at the filthy water rats, it's all going to pass soon, ...... soon."

Perhaps even Bill himself didn't realize that his heart was already expecting filthy water rats to burrow into this warehouse full of hungry wolves, and it wasn't just Bill who was staring at the rat holes.

"Squeak, squeak, squeak..... Squeak squeak!"

The poor water rat had just emerged from a dark corner and had not even seen what the beast that had caught it looked like.

The toothless man had been staring at the hole for a long time, his eyes bloodshot, and he opened his mouth to bite the mouse's head, and the poor water rat writhed in pain.

But it quickly escaped the man's foul-smelling mouth, because someone else had already pinned the man to the ground and beat him wildly.

The man with the dagger rushed up again, his mouth opened fiercely, there were still blood marks left on his gums, he needed food, he wanted to live!

The mottled and rusty knife stabbed into the scuffling man was as simple as cutting through a blank piece of paper, the bleeding man was wailing, the man who was pressed to the ground was wailing, someone was biting at his flesh!

In the dimly lit enclosed space, the swaying ships drew more people into chaos, the hungry and thirsty human lost the last shackles, the muddy water and dirty blood splattered on Bill's face, he was almost unable to restrain his inner madness, someone had already grabbed his blood-stained arm and bit it!

"No, get out of here, get out of the way, you scum!

"Who's going to save me!"

Bang!

The slumping hull of the ship overturned the scuffling crowd over the ground, the weightless humans hitting the wall like cargo, and Bill shook off the bite of his mouth with all his might, and stomped his feet on the hideous face.

He gripped the wooden doorknob firmly, and the oil lamp fell to the ground with a crack, leaving only the occasional flash of light from the cracks in the planks overhead.

The shaking didn't stop, and the unleashed people rolled back and forth with a few wooden boxes, and the noise grew louder and louder overhead, and Bill even heard howling winds and deafening thunder!

The latches rattled, the warehouse began to seep water, and the desperate people in their eyes began to pound against the plank walls in the darkness, trying to escape from the warehouse that would sooner or later be flooded.

Syllable!

Bill slammed out of the warehouse door and slammed into a pile of wooden crates, the latch broken by the massive shaking and the weight of an adult, and he quickly climbed the ladder to escape the ankle-length bottom of the ship, ignoring the pain.

When he stood on the deck, there was nothing but an ocean of darkness in front of him.

A muffled thunder resounded in the sky under the dense dark clouds, the raging wind swept the huge waves, and the raging waves destroyed the broken smuggling boats, and the crew could no longer care about the group of people who had escaped from the warehouse, and they braved the wind to try to put the ropes on their bodies and the fence.

The bearded crew had never been in this situation before, only the captain still held the rudder, roaring and directing the crew to put the sails away, a once-in-a-century storm was coming, and his eyes were full of Bill's familiar despair!

Darkness engulfs the world, torrential rain and lightning come as expected, and Bill, who is drenched in heavy rain, clings to the mast.

He saw who the crying woman was asking for help, the tied crew was swept to the bottom of the sea, the captain who commanded the smuggling ship was smashed in the head by the cargo, and the man with sunken cheeks also threw away the dagger in his hand and knelt on the ground to pray.

For some reason, Bill saw the powerlessness of small human beings in the face of disaster, and suddenly had a feeling of staying out of the situation, and his heart calmed down.

Looking at the windproof lights on the ship going out one by one, the entire smuggling ship falling into darkness, and the huge whirlpool ahead, he remembered a sentence:

'When you stare into the darkness, the darkness is staring at you......

Then Bill could no longer hear the cries, and the smuggling ship was swept into a giant whirlpool, and he slowly descended from the cold and dark ocean floor, his lungs filled with cold seawater, and his consciousness slowly dissipated.

"Are you going to die.......

Bill sighed softly and closed his eyes, as several black metal balls floated out of the cloth bag around his waist and descended with the shipwreck and him.

When Bill touched the bottom of the sea, a layer of sand rose from the calm and silent bottom of the sea, and a black metal ball fell quietly and landed in Bill's mouth.

A glow of black lightning burst out of Bill's mouth, and the metal balls scattered around it all activated.

The strange lightning gradually weaved into a black dark web, and began to spread under his body, and a subtle thud sounded, and a strange black hole suddenly appeared on the cold and dead seabed.

Bill falls into the abyss, and everything is calm again......
