Chapter 66: The Facade
The little prince's questioning did not make the dark country speechless, he raised his head slightly and said: "You are my first prince, I can't remember clearly, but you must know that my child, the life of the butterfly fairy is far from being as free and comfortable as you think, all people have their own ideas, to govern such a huge kingdom well, it is far from enough to be kind and kind, only through decrees, only punishment, can establish your authority, you will be the same in the future, now it is just a different position, for me, Obey you, I am defeated, and what can the defeated general ask for? After saying that, he lowered his head again and closed his eyes as if there was no one around. The little prince and everyone were stunned there, kill him? This is also an old man, but how can he be left to appease those who sacrifice for freedom and justice.
When everyone was undecided, the uncle said an idea, he said: "Since this dark king is the father of the little prince, if you kill him like this, it will inevitably cause people to think that the little prince is also a person who does not pay attention to feelings, and that result is what we don't want, and if we do nothing like this, then what are we taking this place for, so I suggest that instead of killing the dark king, we should beat him as a commoner, and see that his position has changed, is he still the dark man?" ”
Everyone unanimously agreed with the uncle's opinion, so the dark king was no longer the master of the butterfly fairy kingdom from this time on, and who would be the leader, the little prince said, should all the butterfly immortals choose every year, so that he is the real king in their minds.
So we cleaned up the scene again and put some of the things that should be publicized in the most prominent places. The little prince announced that early the next morning, there would be a general election, so that the real leader could be elected from the votes of each butterfly fairy.
It's lively now, those who do ballots, those who choose places, those who are in twos and threes, everyone is waiting for this moment to come.
The next day's meeting went well, and everyone chose the little prince to be the king, because everyone elected him, so the little prince was also the one to do. So this butterfly fairy world has three consecutive days of celebration, my uncle and I have a good time here for three days, are a little happy, until the evening of the fourth day, when we see a touch of red on the horizon, we thought, we should go back, just by the time the butterfly fairy door opened, my uncle and I decided to return to real life.
The people of the Butterfly Fairy Kingdom sent us far away, and the little prince sent us on foot, and said that the marriage contract with the little cousin had been withdrawn, and a more departmental and relaxed environment was being studied, so this time the care was not very good, and asked us to come next time, we must have a good time for a few days.
We are full of promises, and say goodbye to everyone one by one, especially the little prince, these days of getting along, really make me reluctant. It's a feeling of long-term absence, like the feeling we felt when we graduated.
As the sun set, my uncle and I walked all the way down this beautiful scenery until we came to the foot of the black flower, only to find that the door of the butterfly fairy was about to close at this time, and the two of us hurriedly entered the exit of the butterfly fairy kingdom, that is, the entrance to the garden of my uncle and grandfather's house.
It was the fifth day, and no one knew where we were going, except for the eldest grandfather who had been waiting in the courtyard, and he could see that we had successfully completed our mission, because there were smiles on everyone's faces.
We told all about the adventures of entering the Butterfly Valley, and we also officially informed the eldest uncle and grandfather that the marriage contract between the little cousin and the prince of the butterfly fairy had also been dissolved. At this moment, the eldest uncle and grandfather were very happy, and quickly called the housekeeper to go shopping, and he wanted to toast with each of us.
This idea was supported by each and every one of us, not to mention, we all got along really well together.
The next day, some media found out about my whereabouts, and at that time, they were not called paparazzi, but entertainment reporters, and they wanted to interview us, but we were the people who went to the newspaper, and under the arrangement of my uncle and grandfather, we went to the New Territories.
The New Territories is one of the three major divisions of Hong Kong. On 9 June 1898, the British Government and the Qing Government signed the "Treaty on the Extension of the Boundary of Hong Kong" in Beijing, according to which the British forcibly leased from China the land in Xin'an County, Guangdong Province, from the north of the Kowloon Boundary Line to the south of the Shenzhen River, together with 233 nearby islands, for a period of 99 years until 1997. Since the newly leased land did not have a unified name, the British called this land "New Territories" (that is, "new territories"), and the Chinese name "New Territories" can refer to "new concessions". The boundary line separating the leased land (New Territories) and the ceded land (Kowloon) was later developed into Boundary Street. The New Territories is located in the northern part of the Hong Kong region. The largest part of Hong Kong, together with the nearby small islands, covers an area of 975.1 square kilometres, accounting for about 92% of Hong Kong's area. It is bounded by the Shenzhen River in the north and Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, from Dapeng Bay in the east, Shenzhen Bay in the west, and Yandun Mountain in the south. Lion Rock, Flying Goose Mountain and Kowloon are connected. It covers an area of 740.60 square kilometres, accounting for about 69.2% of Hong Kong's total area, ranking first among the four districts in Hong Kong. This hilly place in the New Territories is the highest terrain in the region, with the Great Smoky Mountains at 957 meters above sea level as the highest peak. The mountains are continuous, and the farmland is suitable for many plants to grow. The New Territories used to be dominated by agricultural production, but due to the economic development of Hong Kong, many new towns have emerged in the New Territories. Kwun Tong and Tsuen Wan, which were reclaimed from the sea, are two of Hong Kong's larger industrial satellite towns. The public housing estates in Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin, as well as the construction and development of new towns such as Tai Po, Sheung Shui, Tuen Mun, Fanling and Yuen Long, are rapidly changing the face of the New Territories. What was once a rural area is now full of high-rise buildings, and has gradually turned into a new and lively industrial town. Located in the northwest, Kwai Chung Container Terminal, Hong Kong's maritime centre, opened in 1972 and has rapidly expanded into a world-renowned container terminal. Famous places include Lantau Island, Sha Tin Racecourse, Penfold Park, and Sai Kung Peninsula.
The topography of the New Territories is basically high in the south and low in the north, high in the middle, and low in the east and west coasts. In the middle, Tai Mo Shan (957 meters) is the apex, and there are also Needle Hill and Grass Hill; In the south, Ma'anshan (703 meters) is the apex, and there are Fei'e Mountain and Lion Mountain; To the northeast, there is the Eight Immortals Ridge (701 m). The western and northernmost lowlands of Hong Kong are the most extensive lowlands in Hong Kong, with Ching Valley Land, Yuen Long Plain, Shek Kong Plain and Upper Plateau. The ground height of the coastal areas of Tai Po Hai and Chi Mun Strait in the east is about 150-200 meters, the lowlands are distributed in the narrow coastal areas and narrow valleys of Sha Tin and Tai Po, the ground height of the entire Sai Kung Peninsula and Tin Ha Shan Peninsula is about 200 meters, and the outlying islands in the eastern New Territories are only 100 meters.
In the history of British lend-lease, takeover and rule of the New Territories, James Stewart Lockhart, then Auxiliary Secretary of the British Government of Hong Kong, played a particularly important role. Locke professed to be a Confucian "benevolent and righteous man" and opposed the racism of the colonizers. However, he was the first to be commissioned by the British government to investigate the New Territories and put forward a series of colonial claims; It was he who deliberately breached the contract and occupied Kowloon City; It was he who, in the negotiations on the demarcation of the northern land boundary of the New Territories, defaulted and occupied most of China's territory; It was he who took an active part in the suppression of the armed resistance of the residents of the New Territories. This fully exposes Locke's colonialist nature. Throughout the process of the British forcibly leasing and taking over the New Territories, the local residents of the New Territories waged an arduous and bitter armed struggle against the British colonists. Because Locke played a crucial role in the British seizure of the New Territories, the suppression of the Chinese residents in the New Territories, and the formulation of the British colonial policy in the New Territories, Locke himself disguised himself as a friend of China and the residents of the New Territories.
The early inhabitants of the New Territories were mostly engaged in rice farming. Rice production is produced twice a year, with the busiest days of the year being when the soil is turned, transplanted and harvested. In addition, they also grow fruits and vegetables and raise livestock. The harvest is mainly for personal use, and the surplus is sold in the market. Some of the residents in the coastal areas make a living from fishing, while others combine fishing and farming. Other operations include oyster planting, salt production and pearl diving. In the early New Territories, industries such as lime, ceramic utensils, bricks and tiles, soy sauce preserved fruits, incense powder, fishing boats, etc., were generally small-scale handicraft production. As for commercial activities, they are concentrated in a few bazaars, including Yuen Long Old Market, Tai Po Market, Tai Wo Town, Shek Wu Market, etc. However, as it often takes several hours to walk to the market in the market, there are also people who carry goods into the village to sell, or provide daily services such as cutting hair and repairing farm tools for the villagers. It's a bit like the situation on our continent. Most of the early residents, regardless of their trade, lived a hard-working and simple life, and the village weddings and festivals added some color to their ordinary days.
Due to its geographical, historical and transportation conditions, the New Territories used to be an agricultural production area in Hong Kong. By the mid-50s, the Hong Kong government had developed the New Territories in view of the rapid population growth, industrial land congestion, traffic congestion, and the deterioration of the environment of production and living spaces in Hong Kong and Kowloon. the construction of new towns such as Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin and Tseung Kwan O, and the modernisation of Tai Po, Sheung Shui, Fanling and Yuen Long old polder towns; The opening of the two Lion Rock tunnels, the opening of the Tuen Mun Expressway and the completion of the double-track electrified railway connecting the New Territories have greatly changed the appearance of the New Territories. Today, the New Territories remain an important agricultural production area for Hong Kong, and have become a key area for Hong Kong's industrial development and the development of new districts, as well as an emerging base for Hong Kong's maritime industry. The New Territories is full of mountains, woodlands and bays, and has a long history, so there is no shortage of cultural relics and tourist attractions. Hin Yuen College, Dong Pu Tok and Chuk Lam Monastery in Tsuen Wan, Castle Peak Monastery, Miao Fa Temple and Ching Chung Temple in Tuen Mun, Ji Hing Wai and Tang Clan Ancestral Hall in Yuen Long, Man Shek Tong in Sheung Shui, Tao Fung Shan and Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin, the natural woodland of Tai Po and Clear Water Bay in Sai Kung are all desirable places for tourists. The famous Chinese University of Hong Kong and the new University of Science and Technology are also located in the district.
This place we came to is a small town in the north of the New Territories, if you want to travel here, you will not come here, because it is not prosperous, but it has some fairy wind and bones. This was my first feeling when my uncle and I came here.
The characteristics of this landlord make us feel a little intimate. When my uncle asked me to send us here, we thought he knew the family, but from the driver's mouth, we learned that it was just a country hotel that my uncle and grandfather had found for us after paying the money.
We got out of the car, and the building that greeted us suddenly made it impossible for us to tell where it was, because the shape of this courtyard is too much like a courtyard house in Beijing, and the façade of this hotel is even more vulgar.
The shape of this façade is like this, the stone dare in front of the door has a unique shape, like a hill blocking the front of this façade, and the stone lions on both sides hold the gate majestically. On this door, the words "Yunlin Academy" are written in large vermilion letters.
