Chapter 35: Miss Pitty Pat
"What's going on?" Peter, the old black man, frowned and asked, "Although Miss Pitty was not in a good mood when I came out because she was not able to pick up the eldest lady of the O'Hara family in person, there is no reason for me to lose such a temper. β
"That's right, Steward Peter." The obese, yellow-skinned woman took over, "About half an hour ago, two Yankee officers came to see Miss Pitty, and those two were very rude and almost got into a fight with Dr. Meade outside, but it was Miss who stepped in to stop the two Yankee officers. Then they went into the house and talked to the young lady, and after a while Miss Pitty was furious, and drove the two officers away, and then Miss Pitty kept losing her temper and throwing things, and we went in and were kicked out by the young lady. β
"Marina, didn't you do anything?" Peter, the old negro, was unkind to the fat yellow-skinned woman, "You're going to let Miss Pitty sulk there alone?" β
"Steward Peter, I really don't know how to make Miss Pitty happy." Instead of getting angry, Marinari looked down and said, "The Meades have come to see it, too, but they were both scolded by Miss Pitty. I think you're the only one in this house. β
The old black man snorted, although he still looked disdainful on the surface, Xue Yuan could see that Marinari's compliment made him very useful.
"Dr. Meade didn't tell me anything." Peter, the old black man, looked unhappy, "I usually pretend to be a god, and I am touted as a source of strength and wisdom for the Atlantans, but now I can't even handle a few Northerners, if I were here......"
"This old fellow's city is unexpectedly shallow." Xue Yuan pondered, "Such a black man with a straight intestine can also be reused in this racist environment?" β
Peter, the old black man, chattered and complained, but had no intention of moving a step into the room.
"Let me go in and see Pity, maybe I can persuade her." Scarlett interrupted Peter, the old black man, with her mouth, "I believe it would be better for me to persuade her." β
"It's good that Miss Pitty has always wanted to see you." The old black man Peter borrowed the donkey from the slope with relief, Xue Yuan could see that the old black man didn't want to face the angry Miss Pitty in the house at all, "I think I should prepare the room, Marina Li, you can take someone to prepare today's dinner, remember to be hearty." As for you-"
Peter, the old black man, looked at Xue Yuan, and seemed to want to support him in some work. However, Scarlett stopped him in time: "Uncle Peter, my butler has to follow me." β
"That'sβ"
"Damn the Yankees!" There was another crunch in the room, and it was clear that Miss Pitty had smashed something again. Peter, the old black man, did not dare to say anything more, but walked away with Marinari and the other two black women.
"Come in with me, and let Peaty fall like this, my uncle's collection will be gone." Scarlett stepped forward and opened the door, "Pity, I'm here, you open the door." β
"Scarlett? Is that you? The door creaked open, and a stout young girl gave Scarlett a warm hug. Thank goodness you're here. Oh dear, you don't know I'm going to be driven crazy all this time! β
This is obviously Miss Peaty that Scarlett is talking about, she is not a pretty girl, and she looks even more mediocre compared to a beauty like Scarlett: she has a fat figure and a pair of small feet that are not commensurate with her weight, and Xue Yuan is very skeptical that these two little feet can support her weight. Her cheeks were red, her hair was silver, and her smiling eyes gave her a very intimate feeling, as if the angry scolding that had come from the room before was just an illusion.
"What's the point of asking you to come to Atlanta to stay with me and guard that desolate swamp?" Pitty said cheerfully, "You have an indigenous servant too?" Or is it a housekeeper? It's so unusual, I thought it was a miracle like Marina's. β
Xue Yuan finally confirmed that the chubby, yellow-skinned woman Marinari was a native of the New World, no wonder the woman smiled at herself from the beginning, and her feelings were also about herself as an indigenous.
"Pitty, he's not indigenous." Scarlett said helplessly, "Forget it, Pitty Pat are you really going to keep us standing at the door?" β
"Oh my God! Look at meβ" Pitty sighed, holding his forehead, "Come in!" I must have been confused by the gangsters. β
The room was lavishly furnished, but what caught Xue Yuan's eye the most was the luxuriously Renaissance-like giant fireplace wall, covered with shards of Far Eastern-style porcelain, and the fireplace was obviously combined with the decoration of the entire wall, with Palladio-style wood decorations on top, and a light marble moulding frame framing the brick fireplace, all of which were placed in a Duzer-style panel. The fireplace was also equipped with a copper barbecue rack, and next to it was a shelf displaying blue and white porcelain, which was already empty, but Xue Yuan knew the fate of those porcelain pieces when he saw the broken porcelain pieces scattered all over the ground.
"What's the problem with those Northerners, dear Pitty?" Scarlett found a chair and sat down casually, "It's not a small thing to make you so angry. β
"Those who deserve to go to Hell!" Pitty scolded, "The idiots told me that they had been attacked in the city by a giant wolf the size of Sharma, killing and wounding more than 50 people, because their bullets couldn't hurt the giant wolf at all, so they suspected that it was an evil creature summoned by a witch's spell." β
"So what?" Scarlett asked.
"They threatened that either I would give a list of hidden witches in Atlanta, or I would find out the wolf." Pitty yelled, "Those, the garbage, the maggots in the gutter, the illiterate, don't they know that this is obviously an ancient and dangerous creature?" β
