89 Under the sand
Beneath the Sahara Desert, there are rumors of a mysterious ancient city that have been around for a long time.
There were rivers and oases that were transformed into barren land of yellow sand from about the third millennium BC. Archaeologists have found nearly 30,000 ancient petroglyphs in this desert.
Despite this, most people believe that even the ancient cities that once appeared in this desert must have long since been eroded and desertified.
When the guys from the Conqueror camp discovered a large building hidden under the yellow sand, they immediately began to excavate, apparently for a reason:
-- The buildings that have survived in such a climatic condition are undoubtedly not ordinary ancient buildings, but must have been built with special materials or by some special means.
And in such a building, it is likely that there are lost artifacts from ancient times, or "black technology" similar to the legendary civilization of Atlantis!
"So, is this the entrance?"
The scorching sun hung high in the clear blue sky, Zhang Luo raised his hand to wipe the sweat beads from under his bandana, and then looked at several excavators parked in the sand not far away, and the large drilling rig commonly used to drill oil wells, the large circular hole with a diameter of ten meters and an unfathomable depth.
"The guys from the new Ambrera company still drive excavators?"
As he spoke, he stepped forward and looked at the white-shelled excavators, which were prominently marked with parasol-shaped signs.
"It's a very useful skill." The half-demon next to him also walked over and kicked the corpse of a member of the New Ambrera on the ground, which was almost buried in the yellow sand.
Zhang Luo knew that this cleaned up camp was discovered by others when they were cleaning the battlefield after he passed out yesterday and was sent back to the barracks.
As SCP-682 does not like to return to the claustrophobic space underground, the monster did not participate in the expedition, and was replaced by Frankenstein, the leader of the Strange Tales Society.
"How are we going to go down?" The royal sister in an earthy yellow robe walked to the big cave, took a cautious step forward, and looked down at the deep darkness below.
Beneath this sandy field, it is not ordinary quicksand, but an unusually solid rock shell.
It seems that the guys at the New Ambrera Company have dug up the shell, but they haven't had time to erect the ladder yet.
For Frankenstein, though, this kind of thing is obviously trivial:
"Sit on this."
The petite girl who was still wearing the black combat uniform that stood out in the desert casually opened the space door and dragged out a disc-shaped aircraft with a silver shell.
"I'll ...... Is this a UFO? Zhang Luo stared at what Frankenstein had just dragged out, even if he had visited the arsenal of the Strange Tales Research Society, this was the first time he had seen this kind of flying machine.
ββThere is no doubt that if this thing is photographed by a reporter, it will immediately become the focus of the world's attention, just like the "Roswell UFO crash" back then!
"Built in imitation of an alien spaceship." Frankenstein said as he pressed the button of the silver remote control in his hand, and the top of the saucer, shaped like the shell of an inverted bowl, began to slowly open.
The four of them climbed onto the shell of the flying saucer and entered the aircraft in turn, which could easily cause misunderstanding.
The space inside the saucer is much larger than it looks from the outside. As with the interior of a flying saucer in many old-fashioned sci-fi movies, almost all of the set-ups here are pure white, making it extra bright.
"......" Zhang Luo frowned slightly.
He had always disliked a pure white room, and in his opinion, a "white and flawless" room often hid terrifying secrets.
After confirming that all four of them were seated in the flying saucer, Frankenstein pressed the red switch on the control panel beside him, and the shell on the top of the flying saucer began to slowly close, and at the same time, the ornate machine began to levitate silently.
"How does this fly?" The flat-headed man asked curiously. This half-demon, who is not a member of the Strange Tales Research Society, is obviously the first time he has seen such a flying machine.
"Jet, whisper." Frankenstein is still a treasure trove of words.
Even a mad scientist of her level has not mastered anti-gravity flight technology. Despite its advanced appearance, this flying saucer can only fly in the atmosphere and cannot break the constraints of gravity.
As the flying saucer continued to descend in the desert cavern, Frankenstein turned on the observation light, and the display in front of him suddenly turned into a transparent material similar to glass, and he could see the scene outside:
In the direct light of several white lights, you can see the rapidly superimposed rock formations, and if there is a city underneath, it is obvious that it could not have been built by humans, but ......
"Hundreds of millions of years ago, the building was built by an ancient lost civilization, right?" Hazel whispered.
"Possibly." Frankenstein nodded in approval.
What could it be that the buildings hidden beneath these rock formations, which are only a few hundreds of millions of years old, can still be preserved after an unbelievably long time?
When the flying saucer finally landed on the rock formation at the bottom of the cave, the hatch at the top had just opened, and Zhang Luo was the first to jump out, using the searchlight on the outer shell of the flying saucer to take in the scene in front of him.
Below the rock formation is not magma, but a large cavity.
Because of the hole from above, there is still a lot of sand in the place where the UFO lands, but on the inside, it is a very solid stone "road".
The rock beneath his feet was clearly polished, and the path that looked like it had been made led straight into the deep darkness within. Since the light of the searchlight does not reach that far, it is impossible to see what is at the end of the road.
ββ¦β¦β
Facing this mysterious "dungeon", Zhang Luo and Frankenstein glanced at each other, and they both saw some expectation in each other's expressions.
For lovers of dangerous quirks and inquisitive mad scientists, this is a great place to be!
"Shall we go?" The half-demon next to him kept moving his body joints, looking impatient.
"Let's go." The petite teenage scientist nodded.
However, they had only taken two steps when they saw Zhang Luo stop in front of the stone wall on the right.
"I think you should come and see this ......," Zhang Luo's voice revealed a hint of solemnity.
The three of them walked over quickly, only to see a corpse turned into white bones, leaning against the smooth and cold rock wall. ALTHOUGH HE HAD BEEN DEAD FOR MANY YEARS, HIS OLD SHIRT, HIS COWBOY HAT CROOKED ON HIS HEAD, THE LEATHER WHIP THAT FELL BESIDE HIM, AND A RUSTY COLT SINGLE-ACTION-ARMY LEFT. The pistol, or the identity of this person was revealed.
"Oh my God...... Is this Indiana Jones' body......" Hassiner let out a voice of consternation.
"I don't know, I hope it's just an imitator." Zhang Luo said as he picked up a brown notebook next to the skeleton.
Turning the first page, he began to read the contents of his notes by the light of the portable lamp on his wrist.
